Wouldn't mind this pick up. I'd get him for the sole fact that he was part of one of the more entertaining plays last year.
Is this guy mobile enough to play guard in our offense? Does this mean John Jerry is moving to right tackle? There are a lot of moving pieces right now on this O-line with Moore visiting, Jerry's potential move and Eric Winston. It sure would be nice to have Moore starting at right guard, Winston at right tackle and Jerry as the primary back up at guard and maybe right tackle with Garner in the mix. Depth should not be a foreign concept. One injury on the offensive line should not hurt us as bad as it had in the past.
Yup, we need some bodies man..were thinking about Jon Martin and John Jerry starting..what, Jon Martin should be competing for a position this year, yeah this year imo, no business playing him last year, he needs to show that he knows how to train like a professional before I give the kid a starting gig, that would be my fault if I was the GM and I had to play that guy last year, miss evaluation because not only was he not ready from a strength perspective, he just wasnt ready period, and because the depth was bad, he was thrust into starting, needed more depth there last year and didn't have it....John Jerry, who knows what that dude is eating right now..we cannot depend on these two guys, we need players..we need competition..freakin line is a mess.
He is apparently confusing Moore with Matt Slauson and his cheap shot that knocked Cushing out for the season.
Moore was the Houdini who came out of nowhere to cause the otherwise sure-handed Sanchez to butt fumble. Maybe he is referring to that particular cheap shot.
My bad it was Matt Slauson, taking out Cushing just looked it up on You Tube. Not Brandon Moore, he had nothing to do with it.
Got to love Jeff Ireland's approach to this offseason... Well, if I can't draft players well, I might as well replace my own picks, with other GM's who's have actually performed! All joking aside... I think if we could upgrade that slob Jerry in any way, I'm all for it.
Yes. He's been a zone blocking guard for pretty much his entire career and looked good doing it last year. When Sparano[insert two-minute hate] was hired the idea was the Jets would switch to more of a man-blocking oriented scheme, which hurt Moore earlier in the season for a variety of reasons. The only reason I'd think for saying Moore lacked mobility was because his pulling is a bit awkward. Which is fine, pulling and even outside zone blocking aren't the same thing, it isn't unheard of for guys to be good at one and suck at the other. Moore very much falls under that category. About mid-season the Jets switched back, and it's funny how apparent it is in the PFF rankings. He's -3.5 the first 7 games, and the next 9 are all strong positive with a grade of +24.8. It's like night and day.
What I wonder is whether Moore and Winston are an either/or proposition. Certainly would be nice to have both. Will naturally depend on the contracts, including whatever CB we may acquire. Suddenly the OL would look quite formidable.
Guys, we've been saying that since Wanny's days here. But, this year, as each year in the past, has it's reasons for need of OL...this year, we still need OL...Even if they sign Winston, an upgrade at G or T wouldn't be a bad move.. It's obviously too early to give up on Martin at either spot. I think they grab Winston with the thought that at the worst, if Martin isn't the LT they'd like him to be, we can make it thru this season and reload next offseason at that spot... Guess they are really in a stare down with Winston...good bet Winston will be a one-year wonder (see Dustin Keller) for us based on the time it's taking to get the deal done.
He started his visit on Wednesday and finishes his visit today with Ireland flying back in to Miami to meet him. I have a feeling we will hear something tonight if not tomorrow. Hopefully we can get both these guys. That would solidify the line outside of LT.
What I'd really like to see in terms of blocking scheme is them pick up some sort of non-linemen, especially in terms of someone who can be in the backfield for blitz pick-up. Ahmad Bradshaw coincidentally might be the best in the league just sayin'
YaThink? I'm with you on that. And, if Martin has any real improvement on the left side, with Incognito in place, that could be one of the best OLs the Dolphins have had in decades. I mean, we've been facing OL problems since Wanny had to move Mark Dixon to LT, and we have always had a week spot or two for the last decade. I'd love to have a line nearly settled, let alone SETTLED going into the preseason for a change. Tell Your Dad 'Hi' for me!
I made a similar point in the Winston thread. In one of the links there the reporter noted the Dolphins still have $14 M in cap space; and they have another $7 M coming June 1 due to the recent cuts (but that will be wiped out by the draft). With good manipulation I think they could sign both Moore and Winston (and, indeed, the right side, as you note, would be strong) - and still have good money left over for a DE or CB.
Brandon Moore is such a major upgrade over John Jerry it is hard not to get excited. Do we sign him? Cowboys have interest as well....
Martin - Incognito - Pouncey - Moore - Winston I kind of like the look of that if I am honest. I'd do it. Blow our load on the line to finish free agency. Draft corners with two of our first 4 picks, hope one of them pans out quickly.
Not hearing anything out of Dolphin-land except for the Spitler signing. Come On!!! .... I would really like a deal done with both of these guys. It would free up so much of the draft for us. And, we've got the money.
Soooooo .... I'm assuming Moore is still not at the Dolphins facility? Wonder where the Dolphin reporters are? All busy watching the NCAAT? Evidently. And Harvard pulls the stunning upset! (But, really, tough draw for New Mexico - Harvard is better than a 14, imo).
Jets have already signed Colon and I think he plays the Right side. Their other Guard Slauson blows and is also a FA and the Jets have shown zerior interest in re signing him. As of right now, the Jets have one legit guard, Colon. We stand a good chance to sign Moore for one year and we need him because John Jerry is not a good NFL guard. I think the team knows that or they would not have brought in Moore. Pay Winston, get Moore for the right side and if MARTIN improves this year, this could be one kick assss offensive line guys.
