Switch to algae, people don't eat that. One guy here found a way to produce high quality biofuel from olive pits. If my economics are correct that should lower the price of olives.
Yeah I saw a science channel show about a factory that converts most of its waste into algae then uses that for biofuel. Clearly algae and other biomass is the future of biofuel rather than corn, and research and production should focus on that. However, the main reason food prices are rising could be attributed to higher fuel prices. Its become very expensive to ship large quantities of food around the country due to the high cost of fuel (diesel). My trucker brother in law said it costs like $800 to fill up a standard tractor trailer. Corn price is affecting the food prices though, especially dairy related. But there are almost always more than one reason for a problem.
I've got to call Bull**** on the premise that "Biofuels lead to starvation" The "fact" of the matter is, there will be less corn planted this year then last year, the Market for grain is being constricted on the production side of the ledger: http://www.wisebread.com/less-corn-planted-despite-ethanol I had pinned hopes of Biofuels on the idea that increased prices would spur farmers, be they Archer Daniels Midland or a local farmer, to plant more Corn, it has not happened, the Market did not work. So INOW, either Ethanol production is not keeping up with demand, or supplies are being tightened to raise prices. http://seekingalpha.com/article/70664-farmers-wise-corn-planting-decision-when-less-is-more
time to get those lithium batteries up to par. If I was able in investing money at the moment, I'd put it into companies researching that
