pretty cool when our re-draft has a guy we picked up a round later in addition to someone else at the original spot

Looks like we are early winners.

What was our draft grade during the draft? AND What would it be after they play the games?

Come on Skeet, you dont think Cam " The Premiere pass rusher in the NFL, relative to snap count" Wake, would garner a 1st rounder with all that naughty tape?.lol hows that for a nickname.

When we were on the clock at #25 I was almost certain that either Rey Rey or Clay Matthews would be our pick.

I'm happy with Vontae but at the time I thought those 2 guys were Parcells types (plus his love for linebackers and all). And both fell to 25 when a lot of people had them going earlier.

Then Clay went right after us at #26 and he has been absolutely awesome in Green Bay. I also thought the Pats would be all over him before they traded down. Boy I'm sure they're regretting it now with their lack of a pass rush. Matthews on their defense would be huge. He was the perfect Vrabel replacement in my eyes back then.

Well I think age is a small factor and Wake has problems v.s. Run. I said pretty early and 2nd which is no direspect. Great nickname but it will take me a while to remember it all

I think Wake would have gone to a team with a base 4-3
defense and utilizing him at a defensive end position who's sole job would be rushing the passer ala Dwight Freeny.

Thus not having to deal with a 3-4 defense
To this day with our players I do not know why we dont run a 4-3 defense

As for the re-do pick it has to be Nicks

If we had do redo it, I'd still go with Vontae, he looks to be the goods...

After cushing and english went, next on my list was Rey M or best corner on the board..

If I didnt just love what Vontae has flashed so far, i would be much more disappointed that we didnt draft Rey.

We could run a 4-3, it wouldn't be impossible. We would have to ask Merling to lose bulk and play the strong side with Taylor on rush downs and perhaps draft another pass rush guy. The interior DT spots would be very strong, but it would not use our strengths at all outside of Wake. Next year Wake will be playing the weak side in all likeliness splitting time with Porter.
