From all I've read the 360 and PS3 are pretty much even in graphics. The PS3 has more potential now that developers are getting accustomed to programming for the PS3. MGS4 is regarded by most to be the best looking game ever in terms of pure graphics but Gears of War 2 appears to be on that level as well. So graphics wise I would call it a tie with the PS3 having more potential that may or may not ever be reached (so a tie). BTW EA is just plain lazy when programming for the PS3 and that's why there is no 1080p support (its like Valve and the PS3).

As for 720p and 1080i most people can't tell a difference when gaming and I know I can't. Also 1080p can't really be noticed unless you have like a 50" screen otherwise its pretty much a mute point.

They say that with Gears 2, they pretty much reached the limit for what the 360 can do.

Thanks Stitches for pointing out my failures at English. :wink2:

Seriously thought thanks as I can use that knowledge now and not appear to be an idiot as much.

Well, my PS3 packed it in. It won't recognize any software that I insert in the machine. I tried 6 different games, a half dozen DVD's, a few Blu-Rays and some CD's....nothing. I did the software update, I did a reformat...I did it all and...nothing.

The best part is my g/f has no idea where the ****ing receipt is. She bought it at Eb though and they have a "receipt finder" system that will get me a copy of the receipt when I call them with the serial number tomorrow. Sony said it shouldnot take longer then 2 weeks to get me a new one.

Pain in the *** but electronic equipment is not perfect.

Yah I've noticed an interesting problem with mine. It wouldn't turn on the other day..wiggled the cord in the back and voila.

Loose freaking plug...that doesn't bode well. What is it...1 year warranty via Sony?

Do you mean the power cable or the HDMI cable? If it's the HDMI cable, that's a common issue with handshaking and it's not covered by your warranty inasmuch as it's not a defect.

For the first time in my life I have something good to say about EB Games.

As I mentioned above I had no receipt to get my PS3 serviced. Well, I called EB, gave them my serial number and they emailed me a copy 10 minutes later. I was then able to call Sony. Told them the issue on a Friday and I had my "coffin" Monday. The repair depot was 10 minutes from my house so I skipped the "free shipping" and just dropped it off. I dropped it off Tuesday after work and they called me Wednesday afternoon. I was able to pick it up Thursday....not too shabby IMO.

    Yep.

Thing is 360 graphics card > PS3 graphics card

    BUT

    PS3 cell processor > 360 3 core processor

Both systems have their respective trade offs.

Some things will look better on one system, while other things will look better on the other.

Here's a good example article: Xbox 360 Versus PlayStation 3 Graphics Comparison: Round 3 - Features at GameSpot

i have both systems and i can say, the 360 gets the majority of my attention. I have a 42 inch Toshiba LCD capable of 1080p. The ps3 IMO defineately looks better when going game for game, it just seems clearer and the colors are more real, but thats about it. Games tend to play better on the 360 and teh online is far superior. I pretty much use the ps3 for blue ray (and it also replaced my dvd player) and also as a music keg. i took all of my mp3s (around 12,000) and backed them up on my external hard drive and copied them to my ps3. whenever i want tunes i just turn it on and set it to random and let it go. also, i like the 360 dashboard better then the ps3 XMB. i just think the 360 is more user friendly, easier to navigate and the playability is better, the ps3 just looks better IMO.

    My 2 cents.

Not sure how an identical game can play better on the 360 over the ps3 (in most instances).

But, I would hope the online on the 360 is far superior since you pay like $50/yr to be able to use it. Considering the PSN is free, I'd say it's pretty darn good. I also like that free-ad ons are automatically added to ps3 games (burnout paradise for example), while if I had it for 360, I would have to go search for the new download (bikes are the new download by the way) in the marketplace.

a perfect example is madden 08. madden 08 runs 60fps on 360 and 30fps on PS3. There is a big difference when you double the frame rate.

That is because EA is lazy when it comes to the PS3.

That is why I said in most instances. How many other multi-platform games are like that?
