I understand what you're saying, I think. I'm not saying my idea is the right way to go or not. I have no clue if it'll work. Obviously I have no idea about Tanny's make-up other than what I've read about him. All I can do is gather all the information I can and come up with an opinion on way or the other. What do you want the team to do with Tannehill? You say you don't know the best course of action, but what is your gut saying?
Honestly? Whatever Sherm and Philbin decide. I know that sounds like a cop out, but again, based on my view there's no way to know without knowing Tanny. I think Sherm knows him pretty good at this point. I mean, look at Tanny's history. He got to the 8th pick....having waited to start in college. There is no info out there for us to glean what's best for Tanny's development. i don't think what happened with any other QB qualifies, because all QB's are unique. I will say I agree with Raf when he says there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of failed QBs who wait.
I don't think he would have overcame his problems upstairs...we will never know. I'm not against keeping RT on the bench until he is ready, BUT if he is the best QB on the roster in a month starting him will be just fine. Unless your a head case like Couch n Leaf etc. then you will learn from your mistakes not dwell on them. Rather it's better he sit or not long term is a matter of opinion, I trust he will be a good QB no matter what.
And that's fine too. Like I said, I agree that there is no concrete right answer. I was just throwing an opinion out there based on some of the circumstances surrounding this situation.
Couch had no business starting that rookie year none. That team would have been beat by the team Penn State will have left. You cannot judge what Couch could have become. He was destroyed mentally and physically. Whether to start a rookie has many factors including the team surrounding him, the coaching and his ability to mentally handle adversity. I believe Garrard starts, butr like other said if Philbin and Sherman think mentally Tanne is ready then start him. but you dont rush him and force him in before he is ready
