I'm looking at my giant(for a video game) hard-drive, and see 15 freakin GB taken up!!! DMC4 4.5 gigs, HEavenly Swords 2 gigs, Uncharted, 1.21 gigowatts...GREAT SCOTT! Im gonna be out of space at this rate in no time. Can I erase this crap? I have a seperate "Saved Data Utility" which I believe stores the save points and what not. But will that all get erased and messed up if I erase the Game Data Utility? I mean Jeez, PS3. Uncharted and DMC4 alone would've taken up my entire 360. what teh hell should i doo?
I do not own a PS3, so take my information as such. I believe those are just the files the PS3 installs when you first play the game to help with the disc access times. You should be able to delete the game data utility and keep the save game utility. When you put the game in again, it will probably need to install that stuff again. ** I DO NOT OWN A PS3 AND DID NOT RESEARCH THIS ON ANY SITES, IT'S JUST MY OPINION BASED ON MY PROGRAMMING KNOWLEDGE. TAKE EVERYTHING SAID AT YOUR OWN RISK **
Damn bro that sucks... OK IF you dont get an answer here before you run out of patience I can suggest you do the following very boring way to find out... 1. Pick one of those games your willing to take the risk on 2. Delete the file (at that point I believe deleting the GAME data will not delete your Saves but rather just the files needed to run the game...so it'd better be a game you dont plan on playing for awhile unless you are willing to sit through the install again) 3. Reinstall the game 4. See if when you start the game if your given the option to load your saves 5. Load it to make sure there's no conflicts Obviously, if your saves are not there then they were deleted in Step 2 so DO NOT do that again unless your willing to lose it all because your not going to play that game anymore or just not for a long time and dont mind restarting. I'll say the same disclaimer that Chris said...
The best thing to do would be to get a HUMONGOUS(120 GB or more) hd on the cheap. PS3 takes standard laptop hd's and it doesn't void your warranty. It's also really easy to do. I wouldn't even bother messing with it...just think of it like an oversized ps2 mem. card.
You can erase it, just hit triangle and pull up the options and you'll get the option to delete. The only effect it will have is that you'll have to reinstall that stuff if you play again. I do it all the time with games I've rented.
thanks for the help guys...it worked fine on madden. now i just have to figure out if i want to return DMC4...as that stupid game takes 25 minutes to load the data. and i was wrong, uncharted didnt have any data.
everything in moderation my friend........... plus ill probably play a little bit get bored stop, then start the cycle again.... what is wwc?
