not sure what Coyle is thinking or any draftnik for that matter that has us taking a defensive lineman....Its negligent on their part to suggest..

I have to agree ... our needs are HB, interior OL, and QB. But this draft is going to be Defense heavy at the top of round 1 ... its all going to depend on if any of the top 2-3 QBs shake loose. If we don't trade up or down ... I get the feeling we're stuck with picking Ingram or BPA on defense .. so that may be Coyle's rational

Maybe Deej, but maybe Crowder is waived and Misi moves to ILB and the #15 goes to a OLB who is a more natural passrusher.

But not Jordan, how about Aldon Smith?

With this Staff, nothing would surprise me, like Roth to Sam, Starks to NT, Clemmons to FS as a starter two Strong Safeties in Bell and Wilson etc.

Though TBH, inquiring about Roth would make more sense, but that won't happen.

If Jeff Ireland takes yet another defensive front seven player in the first three rounds of the draft, I would support firing him.

That unit is well-stocked with draft picks and youth. The only question mark there is Channing Crowder, and there’s no need to use basically a first round pick just to replace Crowder, which is what you’re proposing.

Quarterback is by far and away the biggest need on this team.

Disagree, we have no secondary passrusher, it is Wake and some other schlubs, the Defense is far from complete.

I hear folks say, and its nice to imagine, Misi playing inside that is, but I cant dream like that until I hear some concrete proof...

Aldon is an outside project Pod...very raw, very huge,I mean when his body fills out hes gonna be 270..

There are very few scenarios where I go defense with that 1st pick, and like that thread I wrote, Von Miller is the only guy that I would do that for.. Its either QB, Mark Ingram, or trade down, recoup the 2nd, and select 2 offensive players with your first 2 picks.

Heres where I stand at this point Pod..

First of all, iam gonna do everything humanly possible to get back that 2nd, and I may hurt some feeling doing so..

1} Mark Ingram

2} Colin Kapaernik.

3} Greg Little..

4} Stanly Havili..

5} Colin Mccarthy..

6}Tyrod Taylor..

I know Iam going to have to change my mock up some once the draft gets closer and people realize Tyrod Taylor is one of the most talented football players in it.

Misi did not do that badly Pads, especially for a rook. Not to mention 1 star and "some schlubs" worked fine for GB. Not every team has the luxury of having a Woodly AND Harrison, and if they do, they suffer in other areas like the secondary that got torched all game.

I got the sense that in 2010 we did not blitz as often as Nolan's D did in Denver, suspect Sparano had much to do with that perception.

Look at it this way, we had Wake with 14 sacks, our #2 guy was Misi with 4.5 and he went 4 games without a sack, clearly we have to improve in that area Tx

The Dolphins had few options aside from Brandon Marshall and struggled against teams with top corners that could eliminate him. Jones has great hands and will open up many lanes for Marshall and the running game.

Not really sure I agree with this ... they pretty much sold Bess short with that statement IMO

I think Jones would be a great addition.

How does that undersell Bess? He's referencing the fact that Hartline is inadequate as a #2, our depth at WR at #4 & #5 is atrocious, and Fasano & Bess aren't vertical threats. Combined, none of this is beneficial for Marshall or our ground game. His assessment is dead accurate. He said "few options". He didn't say "zero options", and he didn't call Bess out, so I'm not sure of the problem.

Your assertion that he is referencing Hartline as inadequate as a #2 is just as fallible as my opinion on him selling Bess short ... based on your criteria. Might want to rethink your logic on that one :yes:

As for my original statement,

My opinion wasn't that he said there was no or few options ... it was based on him as meaning there was few options because of our lack of talent outside of Marshall ... which was purely an assumption on my part but also the reason I prefaced it with "I am not really sure" I agree ... I probably should have followed it up with why I felt that way but I really didn't think anyone would have an issue with it in the first place :smackhead:

Actually one of the players I'd really not prefer at #15,

Yea if we pick Houston especially with Aldon Smith on the board, I'll go nuts.

Defensively I really only see maybe 4 players that might pique our interest. Peterson and Von Miller who will almost certainly be gone, Prince Amukamara who likely will be gone, and Aldon Smith as kind of a wild card. Bit raw, but athletically he is gifted.

I don't really see how we can justify any other defensive player in the first round with the extreme needs we have on offense.

You can definitely justify especially if you don't think any offensive player is worth the 15th pick unless its a DL. We don't have much depth behind Misi and Wake and Aldon Smith has the potential to be that DeMarcus Ware type of pass rusher we could use.
