As armed as the Cowboys are to move up in the first round of the draft, Dallas' two first-round picks are not enough. Based on the 2008 NFL draft point chart that teams use as a guideline for draft trades, the Cowboys 22nd overall pick is worth 780 points and their 28th pick is worth 660 points, giving Dallas 1,440 points. It's a lot. But it's not enough, not to get into the top five picks of the draft to take a player such as Arkansas running back Darren McFadden. To get into the top five, Dallas would have to consider throwing in its second-round pick, the 61st overall pick, which is worth 292 points. I hope our FO isn't going strictly by the "point" system. If Dallas offers its two first rounders and a player or maybe a 2nd rounder from next year, I'd make the trade.
The draft value chart seems very outdated to me. The higher picks aren't worth as much anymore because of how much money those picks command these days compared to what they did when it was originally created.
Good Point, I seriously hope they come up with a rookie cap per say and then we can get back to the fun of watching trades on draft day. With the money involved it is killing the trade odds of the top picks. Besides why is someone who has not taken a snap in the NFL making more than guys who are stars and have been sweating their guts out for years?
see now this is a good question, I just don't get why the vets don't revolt. The draftees aren't in the union yet why isn't it a slam dunk?
