If they don't believe he did it... then in their minds they aren't defending a murderer.

He's repping his gator brother the murderer, or the accomplice..without any compassion for the dead guy and his family..I guess he doesn't have the capacity to separate his emotions for a former teammate and think rationally on what the symbol of support could be interpreted..

I personally think Hernandez that not even worth the time it takes to have a trial type of guilty. But we have laws in this country and Hernandez will get his day in court, till then his family and true friends are completely justified in supporting him.

I've seen them and I agree, they're stupid as hell and so are the people who wear them IMO. I kinda give Pouncey a pass here b/c he knew Hernandez personally and may just be supporting a friend. Nothing wrong with that in my book.

There is a lot wrong with it.

He can support him all he wants. He can send him ****ing care packages in prison for all I care but he CAN NOT waive this flag in public. It's all about optics and the optics look really ****ty.

I bet Philbin has already sat him down.

I think people commonly confuse the application of the concepts, "innocent until proven guilty," and "beyond a reasonable doubt". Their only application is in a court of law where you may be sentenced to incarceration, probation, penalty, other losses of freedom (e.g. loss of the right to vote), or even death. That is where the concepts of "innocent until proven guilty" and "beyond a reasonable doubt" apply, and it's the only place where they apply.

The Pounceys have a right to publicly support their friend. And everyone has a right to think they're idiot a-sholes for doing it.

But think about this. Would anyone here be supporting them, even on technical "innocent until proven guilty" grounds, if the Pounceys wore "Free Dzhokhar" hats? Would anyone defend him? Same deal.

It just shows a lack of sensitivity for the victim and his family, it's really gross man, I'm ashamed that he's a dolphin today, but he's probably too dumb to understand why Im ashamed.

I wouldn't blame it on the booze. Someone had those hats made, which means there was most definitely a sober decision involved somewhere in this, and I would be very surprised if the Pounceys were not involved in that decision.

I dont see much wrong with this at all, he has a right to voice his opinion. He didn't threaten anyone or get violent about the situation, it has no consequences and should not be gathering so much attention

Still gotta hold him down. He's probably guilty, but you can't just get ghost when your boy goes up on some charges. Gotta let him know your thoughts are still with him. "Free <person>" shirts aren't entirely uncommon for supporting someone facing charges. People wear them even when they know their boy is guilty. Not a big deal to me. I see cats with them all the time.

If my friend committed murder or was even an accessory they would cease to be my friend at that point. No friendship or family relationship is worth the life of a human being.

If Hernandez is their "boy" maybe they should reevaluate the people they associate themselves with and do something to change their lives for the better instead of hanging with murderers who don't value the lives of human beings.

Pouncey just gave us a peak into how stupid, or at the very least naive he really is. This is embarrassing to the team and its fans.

Btw these aren't just "some charges". What is wrong with you?! You don't "gotta let him know" anything. He doesn't deserve anything other than life in prison, or even worse. He doesn't deserve any support at all! This type of thinking is ridiculous.

It doesn't make you anything more than an idiot to stand by a (almost assured) murderer.

Some people are loyal to their friends in other ways. If you choose to distance yourself then thats how you get down. There are a lot of people who will respond differently. It's their life and their friends, let them cook. Everybody who doesn't respond to a situation the same way you would isn't an idiot. He's a grown man supporting his former teammate. It has nothing to do with you or the Miami Dolphins.

Which is fine. Do it privately. Have compassion for the victim and the victim's family. To make it a public display is shortsighted and incredibly immature. I'm sure Philbin has already told him as much.
