I love the city of Miami. I'd love to live down there if I could. At times it does seem like ESPN or some other media has a bias against the Dolphins so I understand why Floridians would say the same about the Heat.

Brother this stance is completely hypocritical. Lebron fulfilled his contract and was an upstanding citizen the entire time in Cleavland. He held one press conference to announce his decision. Big deal.

Favre Held green bay HOSTAGE for atleast 3 seasons holding presser after presser to announce he is thinking of retiring. Held another to announce his retirement. Hell he even had the commissioner get involved. That's something that has never happened before or since.

Held another to announce he's comming back and expected Green bay to just give him his job back. Each season he holds the NFL and the Media hostage awaiting his decision. It's gotten to the point where he fills 80% of the off season conversations. Don't tell me he isn't aware of this and couldn't handle this 100% better.

He knows if he's coming back. He knows his intentions even if they are as simple as "I want to play this year and if Healthy I will". Give me a Lebron one hour press conference over this Favre mascaraed any day.

Sorry, but I don't find this one bit admirable anymore than I would have if Bird, Magic and Jordan had teamed up - something by the way Jordan said he would never have done - to easily win championships.

I mean it just didn't go to a team that would ensure he would be a winner, but instead to one now that could ensure a dynasty. Yeah, don't color me impressed.

Oh, I agree. It's my dream to move to Miami someday, and I'm aware as many other dolphans are of the spin that we get when compared to the Jests, and Patriots.

I do not however understand how that translates into the "the rest of the country is blind haters" mentality going on here. The intensity of defending LBJ, and the over the top attacks on any detractors who think he pulled a dick move is just downright creepy.

I can see disagreeing with whether what he did was uncool or not, but this blanket hate for anyone who questions the way that the great LBJ did things is just off the hook.

That's a pretty easy thing for Jordan to say when he was still on his first contract when the bulls got him Pippen. By pointless I mean meaningless.

You're not even mentioning the lack of income tax, and the broadening of his "Lebron brand" in a more lucrative endorsement market. Taking less money my ***.

I guess we're at that point in the discussion where we can agree to disagree. We aren't really even disagreeing though so I don't know what to call it.

NONE of those guys had to go anywhere.

THEY PLAYED WITH HALL OF FAMERS ALREADY. Jordan played with TWO Hall of famers, Magic played with TWO, Bird played with THREE.

Lebron is going to play with ONE. Impressed yet?

So colored me not too impressed with the pronouncements of the three wise men.

I'd like to know how many Heat fans hated LBJ before he became a member of the team. It's easy to support him now that he's one of them. I'd be doing the same thing probably :pointlol:

LOL. MIAMI a "more lucrative endorsement market"? LOL! That would be New York and Chicago.

If he wanted MORE money he would have gone to New York. (Their whole presentation was about making him 500 million in endorsements) If he wanted to broaden his brand, he would have gone to New York. If he wanted all of the above, plus be the "man", he would have gone to Chicago.

Instead he went to the smallest market of the three and took 17 Million less to do it.

    "Taking less money my ***".

and you wonder why we think you are hating?

    "Hated"?

Heat fans liked their guy over Cleveland's guy. it was a rivalry.

    We now have them both.

It pisses alot of people off now.

Their similarities are striking....right down to their early visit and defeat in a championship round.

except that Lebron James never Held out or demanded a trade.

I went from not caring about basketball to hating it it a single afternoon. The blind love for LBJ really got under my skin TBH. I hate ignorance and people discarding others views. No one here is questioning his talent, or whether the HEAT should have gotten him...only the piss poor way that be left. Yet those people have been called small minded, followers, and stupid.

Yet for all the talking today there is one single fact that remains....at the end of the day, there has been only ONE SINGLE player in US history that felt compelled to devoting an entire hour of prime time television to announce where he was choosing to play during the upcoming season....ONE. And that move obviously rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

I don't really see much to debate...some people don't like what he did...others have no problem with it...and others call people haters. We can keep going in circles, but on things for certain...we'll be watching an hour long special about LBJ 20 years from now...and we'll be fed lines from Dwayne Wade and other players about how misunderstood James was...and blah blah blah....this unfortunately will continue.

Favre has called several press conferences to announce and unannounce his retirement. The unannounce in 2009 was held before a live audience on HBO. Just today the news is playing a quote from Farve's own agent calling him a "drama queen" after Favre called a reporter to announce that he was having ankle surgery.

If LBJ was all about ego as you claim then he would have simple gone to NY. Instead he went to Miami where he would play second fiddle to Wade. A player who is ME ME ME wouldn't do that. What I find funny is that about half of his critics are bashing him for not being competitive enough and being willing to share the spotlight and the other half are accusing him of wanting the spotlight. IMO you have it backwards, Lebron isn't in Favre's ballpark when it comes to calling attention to himself.

And I don't see the TO comparison at all except that you seem to hate both guys. Lebron actually avoided the media throughout the FA process until the show which all went charity. He didn't even have a twitter account like every other athlete until the end. And by all accounts he had to be talked into it. How many statements did you hear from LBJ during FA. I can't think of one other than the show. And IMO the opportunity to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club was a much bigger factor than anything other than maybe not being like Modell. Some want to claim that he used them as a shield but there are clearly two ways to look at it. Anybody who can't see that is clearly being biased. T.O. is the guy who is demanding the ball while LBJ is the guy who is criticized for passing too much. T.O. was the guy bashing his QBs while LBJ didn't even blast the Cavs owner when the guy called him a coward, a quitter and a traitor. T.O. is the guy who does sit ups in his drive way in front of the media while LBJ was almost fined for avoiding the reporters after the Cleveland was eliminated in 2009. IMO all you really have is the 1 hour "show" and are attempting to say that equals or trumps the antics of two players who have sought out media attention for years. And further you are imputing the reasons why he did it. You are making the assumption that he did it for egotistical reasons despite the fact he has little to no history of being that way prior to this.

and NOBODY is defending "the show" or the way he left. But SOME are hell bent on making mount everest about this and that leads me and other observers to clearly see the ulterior motives behind this.

All it takes is a quick trip to any of a dozen NBA team message boards to see the seething hate.

    WHY?

because they are going to get their *** kicked. Nothing more elegant than that.

The constant harping about this by the guardians of Cleveland Dignity are beginning to bore me and others. We are simply seeing it for what it is. Bull****.

I wasn't a Lebron fan before. I never hated him or anything. I saw him as a better athlete but lesser player than Kobe and Wade. I never expected him to go to Miami. I thought he would take the easy way out and stay in Cleveland. He would never win, but he would be the lovable, loyal loser and he would never be criticized beyond the not winning thing. I didn't think he had the guts to back up his "it's all about winning" talk. If it really was about winning then Miami was the obvious choice. But he would have to take less money (even with the tax break he's still leaving $15 - $20 mill on the table), he would take a ton of criticism and the pressure on winning would be ratcheted up exponentially. So I respect him more now for saying it's about winning and having the balls to back that up.

THAT is why I was SHOCKED he picked Miami.

He did the ANTI-DIVA athlete move.

he chose winning over being loved. New York who used to kiss his ***..turned on him, chicago hates his guts, and the rest of the league hates the Heat because they are going to get beat on.

this was one of the most selfless acts in the history of Sports.

I think that's why you are being being biased now. You're letting one event color your entire opinion of a person. IMO doing that will almost always result in an unfair and inaccurate representation of what a person is.

And personally, I don't have any blind love for LBJ. He isn't my favorite player on the team and I doubt he ever will be. But I will defend people when I see an unfair representation. That's why I'm defending him. People are blowing up over a two week period where the guy talked for one hour and are pretending they know everything about why he did it. They are blaming him for the media frenzy that occurred whether he was responsible or not. I see somebody who admits they didn't care about basketball claiming they know exactly what motivates a particular basketball player and I see that as ridiculous.

I thought it was going to be Cleveland as well up until a day or two before. I actually think that the media will turn and start lauding the move as selfless if Miami wins it all. And then the public, sheep that they are, will follow.

But I don't think it's going to be easy. I see the Lakers as being on the same level especially if Bynum is healthy. I think we'll see some epic battles between those two teams as long as Kobe is around. IMO Miami should be favored, but it won't be easy.
