some possible Miami draft picks for 2011: 1st pick: Jake Locker, QB, Washington Height: 6-2. Weight: 228. Projected 40 Time: 4.59. or if we deal for a veteran QB Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama - Height: 5-10. Weight: 215. Projected 40 Time: 4.44. Second pick goes to Denver in exchange for Marshall 3rd pick: Kristofer O'Dowd, Center, USC Height: 6-4. Weight: 303. Projected 40 Time: 5.07. or Stefen Wisniewski, Center/Guard, Penn State Height: 6-3. Weight: 298. Projected 40 Time: 5.13. 4th pick: Will Rackley, Guard, Lehigh Height: 6-4. Weight: 310. Projected 40 Time: 5.27. or Marcus Cannon, Guard/Tackle, TCU Height: 6-6. Weight: 350. Projected 40 Time: 5.34. 5th pick: George Bryan, TE, N.C. State Height: 6-5. Weight: 265. Projected 40 Time: 4.77. or Zach Pianalto, TE, North Carolina Height: 6-4. Weight: 250. Projected 40 Time: 4.85. if we forgo the QB with our first pick: 1) Matt Leinart – (Unrestricted) 2006 first-round pick. started 17 games in four seasons as Kurt Warner’s backup, spent a year sitting on the Houston bench... Matt has a 70.8 career QB rating & has to be chomping @ the bit to get a new start. 2) Carson Palmer – has a 86.9 career passer rating, completed more than 60 percent of his passes for the sixth time in his eight year career & is demanding to be traded to another team or he will retire. 3) Kyle Orton- is unofficially on the trading block, and could be had for (future) second-round pick?
To high for Rackley though Bro. And Palmer is not going anywhere, MikeyboyBrown can be massively pigheaded in these situations going so far as to turn down 2 #1's from DC for Chad Johnson.
I've had my eye on Cannon since the '09 season. No way I pick ANY player from USC before the 4th round, though. Not until the stink of Pete Carroll is off the program.
I see our priorities in 2011 @ QB & Offensive Line. if they can fix the two, we are currently carrying a RB Stable & Receiving Corp capable of winning games. our dominant defense will continue to improve over time. it all begins in the trenches & you don't go to the SuperBowl without the Franchise QB.
I would like to see a Dolphins Team in 2011 that puts pressure on opponents and creates advantages for itself instead of handing opponents opportunities and squandering advantages as we saw in 2010. Put it this way: "Oh, the offense screwed up, go out and fix it Defense" "oh, the ST allowed another TD on a return, go out and overcome it offense" "Oh, the Qb threw the ball directly to the Defender..and he dropped it" Clean that up and we make the playoffs at least. Oh, and Ireland shouldn't overreact and ignore the remaining needs on the Defense or Special Teams in the Draft.
1) Rackley is one of the top sleeper prospects in the country. he's currently projected to go 4-6, that would be about right if they like what they see. 2) very difficult to play a season with an unhappy starting QB, so unhappy he's threatening to retire if he's not traded.
Here is what I meant: ST punts and downs the ball inside the 10 yd line, Defense stuffs the opponents offense, forcing a punt, good return to their side of the 50, 7 plays later=TD That sequence of events is common for good teams, for us it rarely happened in 2010. That is winning football.
we still are missing that 1 special player on D to get us to that 'stuffing/styfling' D you (and I) want Padre .....
Edds could be that guy next season. I see him as as our SOLB but he could play inside with Dansby and be good in either role, IMO.
the defense is young & developing @ warp speed, might have just the person you're looking for on the roster as we post. this will be & has to be essentially an offensive draft & free agency if we are to compete in 2011
@ 6'6" & 350 pounds, Cannon has been the most physically dominant player on the TCU offensive line. he is a beast & a handful to contend with on the playing field
