This could get very, very interesting. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/03/11/source-free-agency-could-start-at-midnight/
Huh? Is this a ruling the judge has to make one way or another or is it just something he "could" do whenever he feels like?
The courts don't run football, laws and statutes do. There should be no reason a player not under contract not be allowed to sign a contract.
Pretty much the way I see it is since the union descertified then football goes on the way it has, under the old CBA until firther notice(ruling from courts). So like Desides said, Judges run football now, due to pending lawsuits and labor standards in place.
Uh… Stringer, a player who’s already under contract can’t sign a second one. But the Mayan calendar IS true. It exists. It’s a real thing. People just misinterpret the beginning of a new calendar cycle with the “end” of the calendar. It’s like saying the contemporary Gregorian calendar predicts the end of the world on December 31 of every year.
But if the players "decertified" then aren't all contracts null and void? I mean, I'm sure part of their contract had stipulations regarding the CBA? Am I wrong? For example, if I sign a contract with my hospital, and then I lose my medical license, my contract is no longer any good and they can fire me.
