1)using Taylor as a LS frees up a spot. Lex can be the RB/FB in reserve. if the team is committed to the run , they'll have to have a full stable 2) w/ 4 of the six upgrading Secial teams & the spread offense I can see it. four wide & a slot is five we have six. 2)I like Denny but Taylor can get the job done. don't see the need for two long snappers
Really? Taylor can be a long snapper? I wasn't aware of that... pretty surprised.. As for 5 rb's... I dont see that happening. I can't see us keeping 2 fb's on the 53 man roster. I just dont see the point in it. seems like a wasted roster spot.
Wilford cannot block well enough 23rd, he is looking like he has a foot on a banana peel. Haynos can block, to me the real Te battle is DMart vs Nalbone, and Nablone is dropping passes constantly.
you might be right. remember Martin is a converted WR to TE w/ the same problems when it come s to blocking. depends on what kind of camp Wilford has & the status of Martin. he is a veteran &well schooled in the critical reception. the way I see it it's up to him to step up &play ball or go find something else to do with the rest of his life. I think he's got a serious shot @ making the team @ TE. we shall see.
Jason Taylor has not been a regular long snapper since the 1997 Senior Bowl. There is no way he is going to be our long snapper other than as an emergency fill in.
Chris Clemons and Andrew Gardner will both make the roster, barring injury. We'll keep 4 safeties and 5 corners. J.D. Folsom won't make the roster. He is PS material at best. William Kershaw will be the 4th ILB. He is currently 2nd team over Folsom. If we keep 6 WRs it will be a major surprise in that it has been yrs since we ever kept 6 Wrs at the final cutdown.
I don't know if your list is set up like a depth chart, but if it is, I'll be surprised and disappointed (not to mention concerned as hell) if Green begins the season as a starter. The guy's been complete garbage so far. If one of the rookies can't beat him for a starting role it's gonna be a long season for the secondary.
read through the posts up until now on the thread. just made an educated, however opinionated guess as to how the final 53 might look I am no pundit & have no inside information: pure speculation & personal design issues: 1) Taylor has experience, however limited, @ Long Snapper. he can do the job. if you want to maintain Denny, you have to give up an extra man somewhere, probably from the RB or WR Stable. because Camarillo is coming off a serious injury & the Special Teams element I would prefer to lose a RB. the only man that could be spared would be Hilliard. with a run-first offense, I am inclined to (use/experiment in training camp) with Jason Taylor. if he can do the job, it eliminates a spot on the roster, if not cut Hilliard. 2)agree ILB can be a problem this year. Folsom hasn't had a great camp up until now, but unless we use an SLB, moving him to the middle, I don't know who else could be carried to add depth. Martin & Kershaw are less than inspiring camp cannon fodder, at least Folsom has some intangibles like size, aggressiveness & intelligence that may be developed during the season. SLB to ILB: Roth, Walden & George might work but really is a stretch, considering two of these guys have already been converted from DE to OLB.
Derek Smith, one of our reserve inside linebackers last season is still available. He's a veteran, to my knowledge he still wants to play this year. I would believe we'd go after him should the need arise and the young guys aren't getting it done at that spot.
Sounds good. I would not be surprised if Jason Allen got cut.....he has been given so many chances and he still seems to get beat pretty regularly and has hands of stone. I would probably keep Chris Clemons as a dback over J. Allen, even though he is more of a Safety then a Corner.
