A few weeks ago I was involved in an accident. I was in the intersection and a person making a left turn tboned my 2004 Mercury Mountaineer on the drivers slide. I ended up flipping over. Somehow I ended up back upright. I only ended up with scratches (and a totaled car). The paramedics, looking at my car, were flabbergasted as to how I ended up with only a few scratches. I feel that the only reason I am here right now was because I was wearing my seatbelt. Needless to say, I am thankful every day I am here.

The only benefit of what happened was this:

Finally got the vehicle I always wanted.

Hey man, glad you are ok!

When I was younger, a seatbelt saved my life too, and my friends. Was going through an intersection and following another car. As soon as the car infront of me passed through the intersection, all I saw was a car making a left coming right for me. I had no time to react, and my skid marks were less than 5 feet. He hit me in the corner and spun a bit, but I had come to a complete stop, like hitting a wall. Walked away with only minor and non permanent injuries. The other driver was a young driver who probably just got his license not too long before the accident. The road behind me was empty, so I guess my small CRX was hidden behind the first car that passed through the intersection from his perspective and he thought all was clear.

Guess where we were going? To watch football at a bar....bugger clocked me on a Sunday!

Glad you're ok 1184. My first and only real accident...I was 18 years old...January 1984...going to Saint Augustine Fl...I was enrolled in the Law Enforcement Academy at the old St Augustine Technical Institute. I was driving...get this...an old AMC Pacer...the old "bubble cars".

Anyhow, I was heading up Atlantic Blvd towards the Intercoastal Waterway....left hand lane. A truck in the right hand lane apparently didn't see me and started to change lanes. I honked my horn and hit the breaks. Well, those breaks locked up and I went over the curb height barrier separating the eastbound from the westbound lanes. sliding along the top of this barrier, there was nothing I could do. I screamed at the top of my lung, held on for dear life and ***BAM*** I hit a brand new Mercedes head on...a mother with a baby in the back seat in a car seat.

The ambulance came and put all of us in the same ambulance. I remember looking over at the mother holding her baby. Crying, I kept apologizing over and over again. The thing that save ALL of us...seatbelts. I had never been a big seatbelt wearer until just before that accident, but I swear by them now.

God Bless 1184 and be careful out there!

One thing I notice is that I haven't heard a single current or former Avalanche owner say a bad thing about this truck. Everyone loves it. I feel the same so far.

I agree wear a seatbelt I have been in 3 major accidents in my life. First one was when i was 8 broke every bone in my face, I was very lucky. I hit a deer on interstate at 70mph total my car I was lucky with my seatbelt. Also just about 1 and half years back was in a car that rolled at 80mph (I wasnt driver but wasn't paying attention to speed either was texting in back seat.). I wasn't wearing seat belt which was very dumb but it was a special case and I was lucky I didn't I would of broke my back as front and back end was pushed in severely. I walked out with a bruise, but my buddies gf didn't make it. Accidents are horrible things to be in and despite my luck in the last one by not wearing one you should always wear one. I am glad your ok.

To say the least I never go without one now.
