The best pizzas I've eaten where from little holes in the wall The best pizza placethat I've been to in South Florida is a mom and pop store called "Italian Tomato Pizza, oddly enough its ran by a Columbian couple.(its on 133rd Ave and 42nd St for those of you who live down here)
You're just not looking at from the proper perspective. Here I'll help you: - Taco Bell is the best Mexican food you'll ever have. - The Jets are the best football team ever. - You're funnier than Seth. See, how perspective changes things? Stoopid.
Should change the name of this to just 'The Pizza Thread'. I've got some friends who argue over Chicago deep dish or NY style everytime we order one during football season. Local mom & pop pizza places are the way to go. We only go with 'The Hut' or 'The John' if the wait is too long, which can happen on Sunday afternoons in the fall.
Chicago style pizza is only one spot above major delivery chains. If you eat prefer chain or chicago style pizza, you should just go root for the Raiders. I'm not saying that because Raider fans suck at pizza, I'm saying that because Raider fans suck at life, and you'll have someone who understands you.
Hell Yeah! I was thinking the same thing as I was reading this thread and then I came across this post. I agree wholeheartedly. Fast food pizza is garbage.
Chicago style pizza is okay but nothing beats a good slice of NY style with pepperoni and extra cheese.
In Chicago, NY style is offensive, and vice versa. Growing up in Florida and surrounded by pizza places run by people from someplace else, I've tried, and enjoy, both.
This happens to be laden with fact. Most of my family are Raiders fans. And it is true that they suck much moreso than normal people.
living in New York my whole life and then going to vegas for college, i have to agree completely with this statement. Pizza in vegas is terrible compared to New York, same with bagels...
I have had pizza in New York. Overrated doesn't even begin to describe it. I get so sick of everyone claiming their pizza to be the best. For the most part, it is all pretty close together. I do agree that chain pizzas typically are no bueno, but I disagree that New York pizza wins hands down. I would put a couple of California pizza places up against anyone.
some more of my perspective: me - Oh look fin-d posted, no way will it be completely over the top and unnecessarily long after all its about pizza. fin-d - rawr rawr rawr i love pizza rawr rawr rawr im like a ninja turtle without all that ninjutsu baggage rawr rawr me - well so far not too ba... fin-d - rawr rawr i crap on other pizzas because they might as well make it from baby corpses rawr me - oh no captain over the top intensity strikes again!!!
I've had pizza in San Francisco, Pleasanton, and a couple of other places. I'd rather take a dump on a piece of sandpaper and eat that. Where did you have pizza in NY? Obviously not at one of the better places, because Cali pizza shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as NY.
Wow, I assume you ate at Gay 90's in Pleasanton? Pretty cool of you to mention P-Town. I spent many of my teenage nights terrorizing that town (it neighbors my hometown of Dublin.) Blondie's Pizza is great. You can find them in Berkeley, San Francisco and others. North Shore Pizza is also superb. If you go inland, Aladino's is pretty damn good. But the biggest bang for your buck is Pyzano's Pizza in Castro Valley. The owner is a world champion pizza maker. He happens to hold numerous Guiness Book of World Records and, oh yeah, his pizza is great. I'm not saying that New York pizza is bad. Quite the opposite. But after years and years of people bragging about it and lamenting west coast pizza. I felt that I must be missing out on life for having never tried it. I go to New York, eat a few slices, and while good (it really is hard to screw up pizza, it may be the perfect food), I didn't **** in my pants or have an epiphany or anything of that nature. You would think the way you New Yorkers carry on about it, that it would better than heroin. And I can tell you from personal experience, Heroin > N.Y. Pizza. Also, because I love Pagan so much, I will now go learn C Minor on my guitar so that one day, I can play one of his songs on Guitar Hero 14: Livesay's Revenge.
I honestly have to ask; what makes NY pizza so great? I had Pizza while in New York, and I thought it was pretty good. With no dis-respect, it didn't pale out all other pizza's as being bad though. In fact, truth of the matter is I have had NY Pizza, and contrary to suggestion, Non- NY Pizza still tastes pretty damn good As for chain Pizza's and "the Hut" in particular, I have had good Pizza from some, and not so good Pizza from some. Each is independently owned and operated. I think that makes a differance EDIT: Sam and I have same rant at same time B O T E brother
I can't talk bad about Pizza Hut for it was my uncle that made millions with them. He retired as vice-prez and for his going away gift, they gave him 10 huts. We was with them from day 1 My uncle paid my way to Mexico for the 1986 World Cup (soccer) and he also brought me out here to Colorado to see the Dolphins play the Broncos in 1999 and I got to go to the John Elway party the Saturday before the game. I was the only one in the building that was wearing a Dolphins tee shirt under my tux. Plus after the talk, the Eagles put on a concert for us It was a very, very private party with a lot of the old timers there.
I watched the 1999-2004 Dolphins seasons in Aladino's. Only games I missed were ones I saw live. it is pretty solid pizza but I'm sure some of the best NY ones would probably flat out own it.
The Hut...right...someone let the marketing department talk them into making a mistake, why lose your brand for a shortened name that has to be rebranded? For me, they'd be better served having extra pepperoni rather then changing the name of the place. And it's not the pizza quality that kills me about the chain places, it's the crap they try to foist off as Stromboli or whatever, that stuff is pure garbage..
