Anyone see the new vid for this?? http://www.gametrailers.com/player/46388.html?type=flv I was a huge fan of Pikmin, so I actually want this. Bad news: It looks no better than the GC version... Which has got to be 5-6 years old now....
Unless I'm mistaken, it's because it is the GameCube Pikmin game with new Wii controls. Nintendo is re-releasing a few GameCube games with Wii controls as part of its New Play Control! series. Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis come out this month. The New Play Control! series, known in Japan as Wiiであそぶ (Wii de Asobu, Play on Wii), is a program by Nintendo to upgrade several GameCube games for release on the Wii. These re-releases will incorporate graphical improvements, which include 16:9 widescreen support. They will also feature reconfigured controls to fit the Wii Remote. The first game scheduled for release for New Play Control! is Donkey Kong Jungle Beat on December 11, 2008 (2008-12-11) in Japan, followed by a new version of Pikmin on December 25, 2008 (2008-12-25) and Mario Power Tennis, also in Japan. Other games planned for release include Chibi-Robo!, Pikmin 2, Metroid Prime, and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes — all scheduled for release in 2009. Both parts of Pikmin, Mario Power Tennis and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat are the only games in the group so far confirmed for an European and North American release, also scheduled for 2009.
Well damn.... That sucks. I wanted a new Pikmin. Why spend money on a new game when your cash cow will sell for a remake. They took that hint from Square I guess lol
Yeah, I like the Pikmin franchise too. There is a new Pikmin coming though, but no concrete details yet other than it's being made. 7:35 PM: Someone asked if Miyamoto is still thinking about Pikmin. Miyamoto's response: He's talking about who he sits next to when working at Nintendo. Says he sits next to people working on their Zelda games and other games they're working on. His team is investigating all types of games. When it's time for the team to announce a new game, it will. "We're making Pikmin." That's from a Nintendo conference back in E3 2008. Wait until E3 2009, I guess.
