I agree with Pagan. This country is loaded with ignorant people who have a sheep mentality. The media sells it and they buy it with everything they have.

people have a natural herd mentality. It's evolutionary. It has little to nothing to do with the media.
This is not the forum to discuss this but leaders yes, music? Not to the same extent. I don't know what you listen to but any music I've ever listened to never lied or edited truths to get me to believe something that was different from reality.
Depends on the music. Next to rap, I can't think of a form of music that formed more of a culture than metal, yet somehow music never made me or anyone I knew do anything we didn't want to. And again, when music outright lies and manipulates facts, then yes...it's the same extent.
formed a culture? You mean like the hippies? urban cowboys? disco? I can keep going As for making you do something you didn't want to, are you now saying the media controls people and forces them to do things? We are talking about herd behavior, not mind control
And again. Lucky you're usually pretty intelligent. Having trouble reading today? I didn't say it was the only culture. I said I can't think of any form that formed more of a culture. The ones you mentioned? How many hippies and disco people you run into lately? Metal as a culture is still going strong worldwide almost 40 years later. South American metal concerts draw up to 300,000 people. Hold a disco or urban cowboy concert down there and you can hang with the 20 or 30 people who show up. Try throwing one of those concerts in Europe too. Maybe the crickets will pay. Stop, please. And the media does make people think and do things differently. Are you honestly going to say that when the news edited Zimmerman's phone call to the police (whether you think him guilty or not) it didn't immediately make him out to be a racist? That's only one example. I'm not saying there aren't other factors that do so, but you can't deny that the news media twists things to fit their agenda and get ratings, and as such are the sheepherders to those ignorant enough to have a herd mentality. And now that we've both derailed this thread even though I said it wasn't the forum for it...if you'd like to continue let's take it somewhere else.
No one said you said that was the only culture. You missed the point. Psychadelic rock , disco music, were large forming sets of music that made people do certain things. The fact that you haven't means little. It only means you missed my point. And again we're talking about herd behavior not what pagan does or doesn't do. Please remember the before you reply or you stop it. go back and read. I said it has little to nothing to do with the media itself, but rather peoples herd behavior. What I am saying is there are other influences that exist. When you have other influences as such then it should tell you it might not be specific to those entities and there might be another reason. You took issue with me saying music is like the media in impact and that it is equal to that of the media and other entities. music is associated with cultures, which in itself is a large display of changes in thinking, unless you think all the people involved in that culture just happen to find one another. Add on to that things that are glorified (drugs) like in psychadelic rock, or sex, etc, and there is even more proof that music appears to have a very large influence. Gee whys that again? I didn't say the media doesn't do those things. I said that the media is minimally responsible. I listed music as something else that causes herd behavior and you took issue with that, saying it wasn't to the same extent. I then listed very large movements where there were whole cultures created. That's it. So, what do we see with music: 1) music is associated with cultures which is a massive sign of herd behavior. 2) music has been associated with changing peoples thinking either culture, hippy movement of peace, rap movement, metal etc and yes music can twist things , like the media and change their thinking. Like we see with rap, or emo, or the glorification/acceptance of drugs in the 60s and 70s.
First of all, my original statement was that the media were the sheepherders, which you blatently misunderstood. You countered with music, which is - duh! - part of the media. All I was saying was that it was to a lesser extent. I don't know of anyone who puts on a CD to get their world information, do you? Only part I'm going to counter. I never said me. Go back and read. I said me or anyone I knew. I don't know just 20 people in the culture. After 34 years of being in it I've met and know literally thousands. You mean to tell me I somehow have a magnetic field that only draws those without a herd mentality to me? I must be blessed. And I didn't take issue with it. I agreed with you, dumbass. I just said it was to a lesser extent. You, however have taken on the "FinD Mentality" and are arguing for arguments sake.
unless you are with them 24/7 it means jack ****. And unless you think those thousands make up the entire metal scene, which it doesn't there are millions, then it means jack ****. But hey you got to bring up yourself again, so I guess this post had some value Correcting your misguided beliefs is always worthwhile pagan
Yes, I must bow to the omnipotence of a message board guru. Forgive me, I have sinned. You are right. (In my experience, the only way to end nonsense with someone who insists on always being correct. Agree with them, tell them they're right, and walk away...hands in pockets...whistling softly. )

I may or may not have done that at that very same video booth. We used to spend a half hour on every visit outside that booth laughing at the videos.
