Pick'em Week 10

Well, coming into SNF, looks like I'm 6-5-1. Another tough week.

Do i get extra credit for picking Washington over TB…. :-)

This has been a CRAZY NFL weekend.

Miami over Baltimore?
Washington over Tampa Bay?
New England DESTROYING Cleveland?
Pittsburgh and Detroit tying?

My worst week of picks this season

Holy crap my picks were bad this week.

I was hacked! I swear! Some fat Russki mother fucker made those picks not me!

Now that I think about it, no one picked the Pittsburgh v Detroit game right so...do we count ties, everyone gets an "L" or is that game completely tossed out and not counted? I mean, we were all right...and all wrong.

I was thinking about that too- ties should be wins or not counted, right?

We all missed on it. A tie is a tie. We could have called it but didn't... understandably.

Unless there is any objection I'll just count ties as a loss for everyone. The game was incorrectly called. It probably won't happen again this year (happens 5 times next week for me saying this) so it shouldn't wreck averages too bad.

This week in general has been crazy, not only looking at the wins/loses but also the number of blowouts seems high. I've been saying strange week for multiple weeks in a row... strange year I think.

Also, I think I've been over-estimating the chargers and under estimating the eagles all year!

I would say that ties are simply ignored. Neither wins nor losses. Just don't add that game into the total.

I agree- that's the "fairest" way to handle ties. Nobody wins or loses.

This. Ties shouldn't be ignored. They're a valid result. If the game was called off for some reason then ignore the result because it wouldn't have been played. But if the game was played, you have to pick the correct result. That includes considering ties. They're just so rare that I think people either forget them or expect that picking a win or loss is more likely to result in a correct pick rather than targetting a tie. Picking a game to result in a tie would be a high risk-high reward choice.

In the gambling world, a tie has no payouts and the bet is refunded. You can't "bet" for a tie in this format because it's such a longshot, and if that was an option then the payout would be astronomical; likely 100-1 or better. But in this pick-em, you don't get 100 wins for picking a tie; you just get one point...hence why nobody would ever pick that.

So for what we're doing here, I think we should take Vegas rules and make all ties a non-bet.

Since there were 2 people that cared enough to post for each side, ya'll were no help in the decision. Either way I decided it didn't really matter from a statistics perspective, and just removed the game from the totals. I'll have the results posted after tonights game.

WTF???? Statistically, the Rams should be up 31-7 against the 49ers, not the other way around! Jesus, did any of the "winning" teams want to win this week???
