FWIW (not much, for many) Jason Cole confirmed Rob Rang's rumor with his own sources. He says the Dolphins are definitely phoning teams about a trade up for one of the top two receivers. He named Chicago (#7), Atlanta (#8) and New York Giants (#9) as trade partners. He speculated about the Raiders (#4) but that was entirely based on the Jordan trade, which was Jeff Ireland, who is no longer here.
One would think the Bears would be interested in Dion Jordan given Vic Fangio's being their defensive coordinator but they actually have a pretty crowded pass rusher position that includes Jared Allen (signed a year ago), Lamarr Houston (signed a year ago), Pernell McPhee (newly signed), Willie Young (10 sacks in 2014), Trevor Scott, Sam Acho (newly signed) and Shea McClellin (2012 1st Round). They also have bigger bodies like Jarvis Jenkins, Ray McDonald (newly signed), Will Sutton (2014 3rd Round), Jay Ratliff (their best DL last year) and Ego Ferguson (2014 2nd Round). I don't know that they'll be looking to add one more name to that pile until they start to straighten it out. On the other hand you might actually be able to get the Falcons and Giants to listen to you about Dion Jordan. The Giants have a history of using Mathias Kiwanuka at SLB and having him come down and rush the outside while other guys reduce to the inside. The Seahawks under Dan Quinn did the same with Bruce Irvin.
I really hope you're right. I'm not really basing it on much, but the scenario you painted just sounds too good to be true, but if it happens I'd be one happy fan come draft day.
I don't think he's tradeable. Too much of a disincentive considering we'd lose money against the cap if we did.
A new BleacherReport mock draft (1st rd. only) has Miami moving up to 9th in a trade with the Giants (in exchange for the 14th, 114th picks and a future fourth round pick) in order to grab Kevin White. "Trade condition: New York Giants send the ninth overall pick to Miami in exchange for the 14th overall pick, the 114th overall pick and a future fourth-round selection. The falling star in this situation is Kevin White, a receiver from West Virginia who some have even mocked going as early as the fourth overall selection. He was a senior last year and really put up his only season of note in college, which has caused many to question if he's a one-year wonder. He also faced mostly non-NFL prospects at cornerback, but he looked like a young Larry Fitzgerald at times. The New York Giants can't really cash in on the asset, as they have two star receivers in Odell Beckham Jr., the rookie phenom of last season's receiving class, and Victor Cruz, who is coming off a season-ending injury. Instead, a team like the Miami Dolphins, who need another threat on offense, come swooping in with a trade offer to jump the St. Louis Rams, who are sitting at the 10th overall pick. Miami has traded for Kenny Stills, who was productive in New Orleans, and drafted Jarvis Landry last season, a decent slot asset, but neither of those players projects as a No. 1 option at the position moving forward. With White stepping up into that role, he would allow Still to be a legitimate option opposite him on the outside and keep Landry in the slot—all aspects that should help Ryan Tannehill's game."
Stay where we are and take Trae Waynes or Landon Collins in that order, whoever falls to us. Defense wins championships.
THe hell with trading up! We need to think about trading back a few spots and getting a third round pick back. Too damn many holes to give up more picks!
i like this philosophy because it puts the pressure on the evaluator..obviously if a guy you have ranked in your top 15 is there, you take him, but if he isnt, dont be scared.
Im all for trading up honestly, so long as we dont give up a future first round pick like the Bills did.. Like CK said we arent going to win with Philbin, might as well go after top talent to setup our future coach.
I don't think DGB is that far behind White and Cooper, if he's even behind them at all. I see the class as having more of a 3 man top tier at the position, rather than the top two everyone says. So I'd stick at 14 and take DGB, rather than give up more assets for White or Cooper. The three of them are very close together in terms of evaluation, imo, and I could hear arguments for ranking them in any order, really. (One of the main things keeping me from pegging Kevin White as the top guy is the fact that he sort of came out of nowhere to become a one-year wonder - and as a senior, no less. I have a hard time putting a player like that clearly above two guys who were long considered hi-level prospects.)
His QB was Clint Trickett... Even White's HC, Dana Holgorsen, said White would have been better with more stability at QB prior to 2014 and with more surrounding talent to take the focus of defenses off of him. DGB's character and maturity may keep him from being a viable pick @#14.
Well he is certainly ahead if you are looking for men who choke and throw women down a flight of stairs. That is definitely a chance we should be taking with our first round pick!
