I know injuries are part of the game but, I can't recall this many for any Dolphin team. Hell, if the guys missing games played the healthy guys, they could well be favored to beat them in a game. Penny, Marshall, Hartline, Haynos, Long, Carey, Gardner, Jerry, and let's not forget we cut Grove and Smiley because of injuries. Ronnie was not, just played like it. That's just on O. Merling, Dansby, Crowder, Edds, Will Allen, on D. Did I miss anyone? How different would a heathy team have been?
Jared Odrick, our #1 pick, who has not been missed by the defense. Hmm, are #1 picks really that precious jewel that they are made out to be? Injuries are a part of the game though SB, in 08 we had a Bears like run of no starters losing time due to injuries, I'd guess they all even out over time. Starting Qb 2 starting RT's 1 #2 Te, believe it or not the only other TE to catch a pass aside from Fasano has been Mickey Shuler..last week 1 Starting Wr 1 Starting Guard
For me, it's hard to say who was missed, and how much. There were a ton of snaps missed by players who "woulda, shoulda, coulda" been in there. A Healthy & Happy New Year to you and yours.
I've watched every snap this season, including the preseason, imho the injuries were not what did the Dolphins in for 2010. To you and yours as well SB.
At the end of the season, we'll see how many Dolphins were placed on the IR versus the league average. I would be surprised if we have more than the league average. Overall, I'd say we've had a relatively healthy season. Yes, some players missed a few games, but we had no big-time players go down for the season.
We don't have a Gardner on the roster anymore. Why do I always see that name here at the board. Do you mean Nate Garner? The versatile OL that was missed so much this season. Sure would have loved to have that guy this season. Wouldn't have been much of a need for scrubs like McQuistan and Murtha.
Muck mentioned it was causing software issues so it has been disabled for now. This forum software is a lot like the 2010 Dolphins, lots of potential, right now keeps getting in it's own way at the moment.. Problem in a nutshell is Deej is a lack of experience and a lack of discipline coupled to an already lame duck OC and a Qb who not only is young, but is also just not aggressive enough. A typical bad series on offense: Drive the ball, one key penalty, holding, offsides, what have you Henne throws ball out of bounds over Wr's head Run play that goes nowhere Voila! 3rd and 12 Throw check down pass Kick FG. Add in a failure of a good defense to generate turnovers and a solid ST that does not make huge mistakes, but also does not create positive field position with any regularity and gosh, we look like a team that should be right around .500.... It is not a lack of talent, not in any sense of the term "talent" it is in experience at front line positions.
Ya know how often I've confused those two? I was glad we cut the bad one. Now I gotta remember he is the one tending his garDen, and not the football player. LOL
Will Allen's injury hurt, BAD. First, it cost us Camarillo b/c we had to trade for Benny Sapp. Cost us in the NYJ game when Jason Allen shat all over himself. Sean Smith has dropped how many INT's this year? Carey's been hobbled all year, Murtha looks like a soup sandwich, and even he got hurt so we had McQuistan finish the game at RT vs Detroit. Having Dobbins cover the middle of the field instead of Dansby was disastrous. Marshall's absence in the Cleveland game was crucial. Hartline hurt his finger, so we played the 2nd half with Bess, Moore & Wallace at WR, and no running game. I know everything is Henne's fault around here, but having those guys to throw to is cruel and unusual punishment. As the cliche goes, injuries are a part of the game, but they do matter.
I do understand your thinking. I still have to wonder about Marshall being able to work with Henne in pre-season or how Penny may have fared in losses to three bad teams, etc. Oh well, it's making my head hurt, and it really needs no help today. Laughing but, not loudly.
Wasn't 2004 a pretty brutal year for injuries? I remember going through RBs like toilet paper behind Wanny's turnstile offensive line.
