Ireland brings up that there wasn't one person who didn't have a belief in Joe Philbin. Very low turnovers within his offense. All keys in making this decision. Wow... JI says JOE WILL HAVE 100% final decision on hiring his coordinators... almost got mad at that... JI is going to find players for the head coach. Let him coach. Joe will decide on the coaches, we discussed it thru the process. But it's up to Joe Philbin. Vision, core beliefs in building a football team is what set Joe apart. Ross and I went thru plenty of debates in this process... had Carl's help... Dawn Aponte involved in the process.. ultimately came down to him and Ross
You are off track here bro, forget his words, which are impressive enough, but his body language speaks volumes in what kind of coach we are getting here. He was poised, humble, intelligent and sincere.
hmm kind of sounded to me like Ireland already has a scapegoat mentality if we have a bad year saying philbin is going to decide everything
Being poised and relaxed under pressure. Not crumbling or stumbling when they ask about your kid just dying. That's def a strong reflection of his character.
supposedly the finsiders are going to interview Philbin... not sure if that will be now or on Monday? doh looks like it's now.
i had no doubt that he would be these things. his body language didn't say anything to me. i didn't expect him to hide behind the podium. his words were standard for a head coaches presser. it doesn't matter. its what he does when we're not listening and his team is. I'm hoping for the best. but its just words...heavy duty coach-speak and gm-speak in the meantime.
Ireland tries to squash conspiracy theories by making it clear that Philbin is calling the shots....creates more conspiracy theories. *facepalm*
He didn't turn any wine into water (the other way is for amateurs) and nobody learned how to fish. Guy's a fugazi.
The graphic up says, Philbin's offense scored the most points while turning over the fewest in a 4 year period in all of the Packer's history.
I like the hire Philbin seems like he has a good plan in place to turn the dolphins around I just don't trust Ireland at all
Sorry I didn't see any sort of ground breaking amazement like some of you optimists. I just saw a nice guy, a seemingly smart guy, who I hope turns out to be a good coach. No first step, no insight or foreshadowing. Just a lot of generic football theory.
Why? Did Ireland **** the mother of half the members here and not call her again? So many people seem to hate or distrust the guy without providing one single shred of evidence that's not some 3rd hand speculation hearsay report from unreliable sources.
the Dez Bryant interview and him throwing Sparano under the bus last year to try to get Harbaugh was enough for me never to trust Ireland
Still don't see the big deal about the Dez Bryant interview. He asked the guy a question that reportedly several GMs had a question about. And to my knowledge neither Dez or Ireland ever confirmed that he actually asked if Dez's mother was a "prostitute." Explain to me how he threw Tony Sparano under the bus.
I was impressed with Coach Philbin. I think he will make this team more dominate and dangerous. I am looking forward to the next season to see what is going to happen. Go Dolphins!!
i know some people might not like my comment but Philbin with the heartache and personal issues he has gone through lately might actually install an infinity and personal pride to play for him. It may be a lame reason but the human soul and a reason to show someone they want to play and perform at training and game day for someone who has been through a heck of alot more than the average joe may be the spark we need. I hope the Dolphin players show up and do him proud. If anybody needs a lift in life its Philbin. I believe in good luck stories. I hope we do him proud.
I'm going back in time during Sparano's presser, and instantly, I see a HUGE difference. Both may be smart. Both may say what most coaches do but the way Tony expressed his words were totally different from Philbin. Philbin spoke with 10 times the confidence and seemed so much more intellegent. Fist pump Mr. Philbin.........
I dont really see the big deal about throwing Sparano under the bus. My only regret is that the bus didn't hit him square in the face. I'd rather have Wanny than Sparano. Yeah I said it.
There's nothing speculative about the fact that he's had 4 seasons to find a QB and hasn't done it. But I'm willing to cut him some slack till we see how he addresses the situation this year.
Although both have never held the positions they were taking over, it would seem that Philbin is far more qualified.
He's had 1 season to find a QB and he brought in Matt Moore who is most likely the best QB we've had since Fiedler.
Just watched the presser. I'm very impressed with Philbin. He seems very smart, confident, understanding and looks like he knows how to be a true leader of a team. I was pleased with the hiring and after hearing him talk about his visions of what the Dolphins will be I am ecstatic to get the new era going.
