Kessler and Quinn have shoved their hands up another set of puppet holes. Anyone want to bet this has been a last minute sticking point with the CBA?
It isn't old. The reports were that they wanted $10 million or to become Free Agents. It turns out they just want $10 million.
Not actually old by the article. It looks like it's new info that counters the previous claims that they wanted nothing.
This is correct. It was first reported that Mankins and Jackson wanted some form of concession, with Mankins especially wanting free agency. Then they publicly denied it, with Jackson in particular saying on Twitter that he just wanted to play football. Now CBS is reporting (via PFT) that they want $10 million dollars.
My bad if that is the case. This morning that news was all over the place. Mid day it was refuted on NFL Network. Who the hell knows any more. Lets play Football.
Jeez. This is killing me.....all of us. At least I got half off NFL ticket an hour ago. Still feel like I'm getting raped Just let the free agency feeding frenzy commence already
okay, so there's two no votes... can we still have the remaining 1800 players vote? They can go to court and try to get what they want later, right?
When they bill me, it will be for half. Call and complain, ask for retention department, etc. you know the drill. I was hoping for free. Didnt happen this year
http://mike-freeman.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/6264363/30753065 They don't get off here. The lawyers work for them. They're pulling this stunt by proxy. It's still an attempted shakedown.
Being tagged 2 years in a row is BS. Sign them to a long term deal or cut them loose. An X year contract should be for X years. One year at a max salary is one thing. Denying them a chance at a long term deal and signing bonus is not in the spirit of the rule.
I wouldn't be upset to see them get the $10M each. They basically got screwed out of a lot of money in the name of a new CBA. But at the same time, if it means an agreement gets delayed, **** them. I think if it comes down to it, they'll realize they're better off not being the two guys responsible for no football.
Its not that easy. I'm not a lawyer, but I think they wouldn't drop their lawsuits, which would mean the NFL is still going to court for anti-trust litigation. If thats the case, then the owners very likely wouldn't want to sign any CBA.
And then the Patriots (and Chargers) win again. They get away with screwing their players and the the league picks up the tab. It's BS what happened last year. But the league shouldn't be paying for it. Their players association should have collectively bargained for it. Lord knows they've had enough time to do it.
If everyone in the world knows they got screwed and the rule is still in place, they aren't the ones holding up the agreement.
Yes, and the NFLPA "bargained" for the NFL's ability to opt out of said agreement. The NFLPA is just as much at fault over the situation as the NFL is.
Bingo. The owners couldn't have opted out of the previous CBA if the NFLPA hadn't agreed to give them the ability.
And that opting out gave Jackson and Mankins the ability and right to sue. If you want them to drop their lawsuits, it needs to be "bargained" for.
As an aside, Jackson certainly didn't help his cause. Two DUI's and a four-game suspension isn't the best way to get A.J. Smith to throw money at you.
I drove to SD a few years ago for the Miami SD game(penny got hurt), and have been thinking about going again also. PM me bro.
