Bess is now the 11th rated WR with a +6.8. His rating for the Bengals game was a +1.1 This wasn't as high as his game ratings for the two previous weeks.

Hartline is the 14th WR with a +6.1. His rating for the Bengals game was +0.6

Long is the 33rd OT with an overall +2.1. His rating for the Bengals game: +2.6, his best rating of the season. After two weeks with poor run blocking ratings, he had his best run blocking rating of the season with 2.1 and which was his best run block rating since week 12, 2010. For the season he is now the 12th rated pass blocking OT, +5.7, and 61st run blocker, -4.0. Things are looking up though, perhaps.

Martin is 59th of 69 OTs with an overall -8.0. The Bengals game was his best overall of the season with a -0.5. +0.5 pass blocking and a -1.4 run blocking. The run block rating was tied for his 2nd worst though. For the season, he's 49th pass blocker, -2.4, and 65th run blocker, -5.5.

Jerry is 38th G with a -0.4. Bengals game was an overall +0.2. -0.3 pass, and +0.2 run blocking.
For the season he's the 14th run blocking G at +2.3, and 58th pass blocking at -2.8 out of 71 guards.

Incognito is 64th G with -6.9. Bengals game was an overall -0.8 with pass blocking at +1.2, his best pass block rating of the season, and run blocking at -2.3, his worst run block rating of the season. For the season, he's the 36th pass blocking G at -0.3, and 67th run blocking G at -6.7

Pouncey is the 2nd C at +11.4. He was passed for #1 by Jonathan Goodwin who had a +4.5 in the 49ers game against Buffalo and is now at +12.2. Pouncey was +0.6 for the game which was his lowest rating of the season. +0.8 pass blocking and -0.4 run blocking, which was his only negative run or pass blocking rating in any game this season. For the season, he is 2nd run blocking at +6.9, and 3rd pass blocking at +3.9.

Fasano is the 8th TE at +5.0. For the game he was 0.0, with a -0.2 receiving, +0.3 pass blocking and -0.4 run blocking. For the season he's 9th receiving TE at +2.7, 17th pass blocking at +0.7, and 16th run blocking at +1.0

RT17 is now the 17th QB with a +4.4. For the game he was +3.4, his 2nd best overall rating this season, Oakland is still his best overall at +3.9. However, his passing rating was +3.2, his best PFF passing rating of any game this season. For the season, his pass rating is +4.2 and 16th.

Bush is 21st RB with +1.6. He was also +1.6 for the game and it was his 2nd highest game rating this season. +0.8 receiving, his best of the season, +0.7 rushing, and +0.1 pass blocking, his best of the season and tied for his 3rd best pass block rating as a Dolphin. For the season, he is 14th in rushing rating with +2.8. His is also rated the 14th receiving RB with a +1.2. He is the 46th pass blocking RB though out of 49.

Thomas is the 46th rated RB with a -6.8, tied with Shonn Greene and ahead of only Darren McFadden and BenJarvus Green-Ellis in PFF's ratings for RB. The Bengals game was his best of the season, with a +0.6 overall. -0.2 receiving, +0.6 rushing, and +0.2 pass blocking. For the season he's 39th receiving, -1.2, 45th rushing at -4.4, and 45th blocking at -1.3.

Lane is the 23rd of 24 FBs with a -2.5 ahead of only Le'Ron McClain at -4.0. He was -2.4 for the game, his worst of the season. He was +0.4 receiving, -1.9 rushing, and 0.1 pass blocking and -0.6 run blocking. For the season he's the 7th receiving FB at +0.7, last rushing FB at -1.5, and 20th blocking at -1.6.

Wake is still far and away the #1 4-3 DE, and is now the 3rd rated overall defensive player behind Watt and Von Miller, who slightly passed Wake by having a sick +12.3 rating in their game with the Pats and is now a 31.0 overall compared to Wake at 30.1. Watt is a 35.4. Wake is rated the #1 pass rusher of all players so far this season with a 27.6. Only Watt is close to him at 22.9. For the game, Wake was 2.8, his lowest overall of the season. He was a 3.6 pass rushing, his 3rd best of the season. His run defense rating for the season is 20th among 4-3 DEs at 1.6.

Odrick is 53rd overall 4-3 DE at -6.4. This was by far his worst game at -3.7, -0.6 run defense, his worst of the season, -3.4 pass rushing, his worst of the season. His poor pass rush ratings are on account of his so seldom getting any hurries. He has 2 for the season. His 3 sacks, when you factor it over the season as 9-10, sounds like he is a good pass rusher, but his sacks are clean up sacks after someone else flushes the QB. It is good he never stops motoring, but he's not likely going to get many sacks at DE where he just flat beats the OT 1 on 1 off the snap. He has 3 sacks, 5 hits and 2 hurries for the season. He is 17th in run def for the season so far with a 2.6 and 57th of 58 DEs in pass rushing at -11.0, ahead of only Cameron Jordan.

Starks is the 4th DT at 9.7. For the game he was 2.5 with plus ratings in all 3 of run def, pass rush, coverage. It was his 3rd best rating of the season. For the season he is 7th pass rushing DT, 5.1, and 20th run def, 2.5.

Soliai is the 16th DT at 4.8. 0.1 for the game overall, with a -0.3 run def, and 0.3 pass rush. For the season he is the 7th run def DT at 4.9 and 52nd pass rush at -0.9.

Dansby is now 3rd ILB/MLB at 9.8. For the game he was 1.9. It was his best pass rush rating this season with 0.8 and tied for best coverage rating at 1.2. For the season he is 6th in run def and 10th in coverage.

Misi is 11th OLB at 5.4. For the game he was 0.6 and had his first minus rating in run def at -0.3, but had his best coverage rating at 1.3. For the season he is the 3rd run def 4-3 OLB with 7.3. He is 33rd in coverage, -1.2, and 41st in pass rush, -1.2, of 46 4-3 OLBs.

Burnett is 8th OLB at 6.4. He was 0.3 for the game, with a 2.0 pass rush, and a -1.5 pass coverage rating. For the season, he 9th run def, 3.4, 3rd pass rush, 2.7, and 27th coverage, -0.3.

Smith is 16th corner at 4.5. For the game he was 1.4 overall, and 2.0 in coverage, his 2nd best coverage rating this season. For the season he is 8th cover corner at 5.3.

Marshall is 73rd corner at -2.7. He is 30th in coverage at 2.0, but has the worst penalty rating among corners at -3.4.

Carroll is 82nd corner at -3.3. He had a good coverage rating in the game though with 1.9 and 1.3 overall. This was his 3rd best single game coverage rating as a Dolphin. For the season though, his -1.7 rating is 70th of 100 corners.

Jones is the #1 rated safety at 9.0. He is 3rd pass rushing, 1.2, 4th run def, 4.2, 13th coverage, 3.0. For the game he was 1.8 with his best coverage rating of 1.3. This was his 2nd best coverage rating ever. His best being his first game as a rookie against Tennessee when he had a 1.7.

Clemons is 14th safety at 4.3. He's 19th in coverage, 2.3, and 13th run def, 2.2. He was 0.4 for the game with a 0.8 in coverage.

Fields is now 12th punter at 7.2. He was a -0.8 for the game, his lowest since week 1 of 2010.

    Carp is 16th kicker. 12th on kickoffs, 7.6, and 26th on FG/EP at 1.0

Team is 19th in overall offensive rating at 3.1. 17th in passing at 8.2, 26th rushing, -2.3, 19th pass blocking, 2.2, 25th run blocking, -8.5, 9th in penalty rating, 3.5.

2nd in overall defense at 72.0. 2nd run def at 37.5, 2nd pass rush, 18.4, 5th in pass coverage, 13.5, 6th in penalty rating, 2.6.
The higher the penalty rating the better in the PFF system.

Team is 9th in STs at 17.4.

anything else, you want to know from PFF, just ask.

Martin and the OL are going to have their hand full this week. In the last two weeks, I saw a bit of The Rams and their DL is playing very well. Handling them is not going to be easy.

And it seems like the OL is the weakest area of the team.

Davone Bess...arguably having as good of year as Hartline..

Not sure he's getting enough respect, he's been outstanding on third down, getting deeper in his routes, great difficulty of catch percentage.

Dude has taken his game to another level.

Seattle ran for almost 200 yards against them and their Rookie QB Wilson showed signs he should not be a starter. The Cardinals Oline first off is bad add to that our D just got done flogging them mercilessly only 4 days prior and the Cardinals lost their RB Williams early and had no running game. Kolb was already beat up from our game and in short, the Rams had us to Thank for putting a beating on the Cardinals. In no way was AZ ready to play that Thursday night game. Seattle has no offense to speak of in the first place. Rams Dline is decent but as in the past, best way to punch the Rams in the mouth is run straight at them up the middle. Marshwn Lynch hammered them pretty good and as I said, AZ had zero running game so they just unloaded on Kolb as we did.

As I told Clean a few days ago. I usually refer to PFF but this year their Oline ratings are completely crazy. Our Oline is far better then what they have it rated for. It appears our zone blocking scheme has them at PFF going bonkers.

Jones is playing great but the ranking is a bit skewed. He's basically I'm the same arena with Clemons in pass coverage but a bit higher in run coverage. Reason for this is that he's a heat seeking missile but also because he plays near the LOS for much of the game. And his pass rushing vaunts him to 1 which kind of skews it. Clemons is playing just a bit worse but is 13 spots back

The Rams LG is Quinn Ojinnaka, the worst rated pass blocking G in the league. It will be fun to see Starks take him to school.
Their RT is Barry Richardson, the 5th worst pass blocking OT in the league. That's who Wake will be going against.

As TO would say, get your popcorn ready.

They do this with other zone blocking teams too. Last season the Broncos ranked very high in running the ball, but their 5 OL's individual run blocking ratings on PFF were all pretty bad as I recall. Clady last season was a -13.2 run blocking, Franklin was a 0.8, Kuper was -9.0, Beadles was -5.3 and Walton was -23.2, yet Denver as a team was 8th rushing at 9.5 and McGahee was a 5.9 in rush rating and averaged 4.8 yards a carry. Lance Ball averaged 4.3 ypc as his backup.

If the best ground attack is up the middle that's not good timing. You would want to feature Daniel Thomas in that style of gameplan, but he's recently concussed so I wouldn't depend on him being able to pound it in there all day with his head lowered.

Do you really want to send Reggie Bush in there, just recovering from an injury, to be that battering ram? There were durability questions about Reggie to begin with and he's played well but you have to feel you are expending a dynamic weapon rather underwhelmingly if you pound the A gap with him mercilessly for three yards a pop all day.

There is Javorskie Lane, and we may see him get a few extra carries from the upback spot, or even tailback, but he's also put the the ball on the turf so confidence can't be through the roof on giving him a lot of carries.

As for Lamar Miller, it just doesn't seem like he has the staff convinced he needs to be out there more. And he is not an obvious choice for a pound the rock inside gameplan.

So if pounding it inside is the smart approach, do we try to fit square pegs into round holes? Or is there a RBBC approach where they each get a few carries. This can backfire as inside running, more than outside running, really requires carries for a runningback to get a feel and rhythm of the blocking, Dline, pace and holes that day. It's a job for a featured back, spelled by one guy. Not for three to four guys splitting carries.

There have to be question marks around the rushing attack plan. Interesting to see what they end up doing.

Disagree. It's easier to find a player with Bess' quickness but undersized and lacking long speed than receivers truly as versatile as Hartline. What makes Hartline good is he can go deep, or undress you on a perfectly executed short route, he can play flanker, split end, or slot effectively. He can go up and get the ball in the air, and make the low catch. He does well catching in traffic and battling for position with the ball in the air. He draws a lot of PI calls, and many are because he knows what to do to induce the call, and when to do it (I.e. he won't be able to get to the ball anyways). He can make acrobatic catches at times. Phenomenal technician on head fakes, routes and even beating the jam at the LOS (critical in a timing offense)

    Is he perfect? No.

Could be faster. Could have better YAC. Could have more consistent hands.

But he rates at least 7/10 in every area that counts for a WR and can play any role, anywhere on the field for you. Plus he is a smart situational player, and knows the playbook. He even missed camp in a new offense then led the league in receiving yards after the first month.

He is not a Calvin Johnson or Andre either. Not close.

But he is a more valuable and harder to find player than Bess is. And I love Bess. Bess has clutch hands, short area quickness and nothing else, really.

Asking them would probably be a good idea, but based on what I've seen is they are really prone to grade a guy getting a lot of second level blocking opportunities high, and a guy who is performing a lot of covered blocks he isn't likely to dominate low.

Jake Long has been getting ****ed in run blocking grades because he's drawing a lot of really good 3-4 DEs who he isn't going to destroy in the run game basically.
