Peyton Manning UPDATE: Miami has been ruled out (Post 885)

The fact is, we went from a perceived favorit, to not even getting the guy to visit our facility.

That's a whiff.

Moreover, we lost him most likely to a team that wasn't even considered to be in the hunt (Denver or Tennessee)

Maybe Flynn or whoever we draft will turn out great, but I'm not holding my breath.

So because the talking heads said Miami was the favorite, that means that Miami was the favorite in Manning's mind?

 

The media has been far from right about anything with this. Maybe we never actually had a shot because of reasons outside our control. How would that be a whiff?

It's not my fault that they put themselves out there for every big fish and then fail every single time. That's their fault. Perhaps they should understand their limitations and aim lower so as not to get the fans hopes up.

Until this team starts winning we are an irrelevant, undesireable locale. Sucks, but that's the way it is.

The truth is, we do not know if Manning was ever really interested enough for Miami to be able to "botch it"

that contract for life was very interesting isn't it? Did u click the link and read the article? It mentions no cap hit unless the second part of the contract isn't fulfilled then they get hit with cap penalties or something like that.

 

Actually Peyton didnt visit us because he's seen our facility (he spent both super bowl weeks there) and didnt need to come out to florida again. It wasnt a slight on his part. Miami just thought he would feel more comfortable meeting with them at his home.

I guess it depends on your perspective. Maybe she really wants to go out with you more but just doesn't know it yet. I guess if one wants to give up so easily that's his right.

I admit I didn't & didn't realize that you had to sign two contracts if you end up doing the "Contract for Life". You learn something new everyday.

 

yep. One is for playing only for that team and the other is working for the team after your playing days are over. That makes Peyton well worth it for those that think they will only get 3 years of value out of him because of his age.

 

Yeah, and Darlington is about the only guy aside from Hyde that I have any faith in...
