According to NBC Sports’ Peter King, the Miami Dolphins are in the running to acquire Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen. During King’s mock draft, he teased that the Dolphins were the team most actively looking into Rosen. What a fascinating development,

And best of all, thanks to Rosen’s guaranteed money being Arizona’s problem, the Dolphins would have several years of control for Rosen while only being on the hook for a slight fraction of the cap hit typically designated to top-10 picks. So if the experiment doesn’t work, what exactly would Miami have lost? A third-round pick and a few million dollars a year in base salary.

There is no denying Rosen has talent but the fact that a team is willing to give up on you so easily makes me feel uneasy about his future. What it does to him mentally, is not something we can measure. We dont know what he is made of.

If the trade happens, so long as Fitz is healthy i say Rosen should sit out, learn from the sidelines, giving him time to regroup and really get acclimated with miami. And then give him his shot next offseason to show what he’s got.

Who knows, he might be motivated to join a division that has two of the QBs that leapfrogged him in the draft with a chance to show the jest and buffalo that they made a mistake.

For me the biggest thing in the Rosen question is what's offered for him. 3rd round pick - maybe even a 2nd round pick if they're really high on him. What I wouldn't want is to go all in on him.

    Now, where's Unlucky13?

I'm going to start by saying I'm not really in love wi lth any QB in this draft but...

If we want to go that route, I wwouldnt be against also taking someone at #13 if the staff likes them and basically saying "One of you two will be the starter next season".

If either guy is small enough that it breaks them....they werent the guy anyway.

Well, you know me. I absolutely love Rosen. He's very young, and was on a terrible team last season. He would be my top pick not only in this year's draft, but last year and next year also. The idea of trading a second rounder for him makes me swoon. The idea of trading a third rounder makes me feel like we're robbing the Cards blind!

I am absolutely eager to put 100% of my eggs into the Rosen basket, and build a team around him and his strengths the next few years.

It's also a very Patriots way of doing things by trying to maximize value, which is smart. Also, the Pats have been heavily rumored to be interested in Rosen as well.

I think the thing to take away from this is literally it's coming out from like three sources at once, and a guy like Peter King is pretty much just explicitly a mouthpiece for people to leak stuff to.

Trade r. Jones for Rosen. Then we still have all our draft picks.

If it's just a third, then I can vibe with that trade. Still, it's a bit suspect that Arizona is willing to part with him so soon.

There were rumors weeks ago that Arizona turned down a 2nd for Rosen. Now we can nab him for a 3rd? The math doesn't make me very confident that there's truth to this story.

The Cards have said they wanted a 1st for Rosen or they'll let him compete for the starting job against Murray. I don't see how his value would have plummeted that much (in Arizona's minds) leading up to the draft.

Well like you said, rumors. They could have spread that news to try and have someone bite on a first rounder. They also could be 100% accurate so who knows.

Also, I think if you are drafting another QB the next year in the first you are showing a huge lack of confidence in the guy you scouted.

They aren't drafting Murray to let Rosen "compete" - that's just desperation to drive value. Let's not forget, their **** *** GM is on his last legs and they need to show improvement. Letting Rosen hang around isn't doing that. If they are on Murray and take him, Rosen is gone. If they turned down a second, they will probably rue that choice.

IMO I'd say go for a fourth, maybe a third. But are we a spot where Rosen can have success? He needs to start the majority of this season if we take him, so we know if we have an answer or not. And yes, while he struggled with a crappy team in Arizona, will we be much better?

I was a little higher on him, but gosh it's tough to see a dude who had questions/inconsistency in college, then flopped as a pro to the point that his team ditched him for a mid-round pick go on to be a world beater. We can make excuses, but that just calls to mind the eternal debate over Thill. I don't really feel like Round 2, the Rosen File.

My internet is acting up and not loading the page properly but at this point if you're the Cardinals, surely you're waiting until a QB goes down in camp and a team gets desperate?

    I don't like Rosen.

    But.....

The only scenario that i would approve of us getting Rosen is if we can trade down in the 1st round (13) and pick up a later 1st round pick + a 3rd round pick.

Then, I would be fine with offering one of our 3rd round picks for Rosen.

Round 1 (from trade down) - O line
    Round 2 - O line
Round 3 - traded for Rosen
Round 3 (from trade down) - D line
    Round 4 - O line
    Round 5 - D line

I know some people I really respect as draft evaluators had him as the #1 or #2 QB in last year’s draft. But after last season with the cards I hope the phins do a proper and deep due diligence on him. You can’t just hand wave his numbers as being due to bad team mates.
Historically it’s really rare for a QB to have as bad a rookie season as Rosen had to turn it around. The working assumption has to be he won’t turn it around, and that it’s up to the advocates to prove he’s worth the risk based on his NFL film.

So you’re saying that on a list with guys like Mayfield, Murray and Tua, you have Rosen on top?

To each, their own, I guess.

I think Rosen is not a worthwhile QB but what if we're not researching him for us?

What if someone has a strong suspicion that he's going to a certain other team in our division and therefore are going to research all there is about him because he's potentially going to be the next face of one of our rivals?

Well he would only really be going to the Patriots. In that case he wouldnt start until Brady retires in a year or two.

To me it comes down to is he a Favre or a Feeley?

Get the Cards to package him with Patrick Peterson at a reasonable cost and I'm all in.

Two #2's (this year and next year's second rounders) perhaps?

I don't want to rock anybody else's boat, but yes without question. Tago is TDB, he could really impress me next season. Leaving that open. Right now I look at him as #2 behind Fromm. I just really, really don't like Mayfield, and wouldn't want to make him my team's QB.

That would be a massive waste of resources right now. The tape on him isn't going away, if the Patriots take him, it'll be a year or two before he starts anyway, and we can do the research then instead of putting in overtime on a "maybe".

Peterson and X would be a helluva corner duo ... and probably way too big of a cap hit. I sincerely doubt the Cards also feel that the best they can get for him is some second rounders. Added on, we need to conserve 2020 picks at all cost for QB trade ammo.

Love Rosen, my favorite last and this year. And the Cardinals' willingness to let him go tells me their brain-trust/front office is not 100% on where the franchise is going...I mean, c'mon...it's ARIZONA...not a bastion of successful, long-term winning football. If it were the Steelers, Ravens, Cheatriots picking him up then trying to dump him, then ya...I'd have pause.

I never said that he wasn't a productive player, and even last year leading up to the draft, I didn't say that he'd be a bust. Just that I don't like him, on or off the field. Similar to how I felt about Phillip Rivers while he was in college, and still do 15+ years later.

I'd give up a 3rd this year and a pick next year based off performance. Say a 5th or 6th if he ends up sucking, and another 3rd if he plays well.

That's assuming he's the starter of course.

If we trade for him, I'm also a fan of getting one of the guys next year. Throw resources at QB until the position is settled. Let Rosen sign a megadeal off some average seasons, reap the picks, and groom another one to replace.

If Rosen's play is undeniable, then hey, win-win.

I'd have no problem trading a third or fourth for him, with a conditional pick next year in the same region. We aren't likely to get a quarterback with his talent in that range unless we happen upon the next Russel Wilson or Dak Prescott. And to be honest I'd rather have Rosen out there starting than Fitzpatrick. So it's worth the risk in my view. If it works out we can have our next franchise quarterback. If it doesn't we can draft someone next year.

Give me one Josh Rosen please.

This dude is going to have the absolute biggest chip on his shoulder by the time he hits the field next.

Cardinals have really done him dirty. I don't understand why anyone would ever want to play for that organization. They're horrible to their players.
