John Clayton said if the money was right he would have already signed with Miami. Miami is where he wants to be, however the team is not willing to pay him what Buffalo or (some other team mentioned) would pay him. Miami isn't out of it, but that is the only reason he hasn't signed yet.
Time to choose between your wallet and your heart, Lavernues. Let's see which one you think is more important.
I'd be happy if we didn;t spend the $$ on Coles. We could pursue Ron Bartell, or another top FA. Prices will start falling soon as the market thins.
and if he chooses the bills then i wouldnt want that type of player here anyways.....and how would the bills feels as a orginization? "he signed here ONLY because of the money.....not to win, not the team, not the fans.....but the money" he comes here....we know why
You could say that about most free agents. They go where the money is. It's a business, just like the teams always say. You have to play where you're going to get paid. Can't blame him for that.
hes gunna get paid here too......not as much...but he will still be paid millions to play football....a game....with no state taxes in miami florida..... other things gotta factor in for some guys
Good. I'd much rather invest the future in Hakeem Nicks, Kenny Britt, or Heyward-Bey. Enjoy the sweep next year, Lav.
Same feeling I had about Goodman, take him or leave him. FO has some idea what they want to do, again no worries.
Breaking News on Coles.... ESPN just ended Sportscenter with a report from Mort that said a high ranking official with the team said "there is no interest in Coles and no offer has been made to him". This can now be put to rest as just a rumor.
I would think. "he's just thinking about his family and his wealth. that's cool. We're just as cold."
I do think if he ends up here he'd have the best season of his other choices. At this point he's already made alot of money in his career, he may want a ring. Boy is it nice to be able to say that!
and his family would be really "struggling" and his wealth diminished if he took the millions from miami instead
if that the case wouldnt he say the dolphins offered him....trying to get someone to wanna outbid us?
I love how signing with a team other than Miami means a free agent doesn't have heart. Care to clue me in on that one?
no....when its been reported he wants to play here....but we arent offering as much money....that means hes going against what he wants truly....just for extra money
I keep seeing people say this and it's so silly. Teams fortunes change quickly in the NFL. I mean were you saying that about any free agent who thought of signing with us last year? Was Chad Pennington only after money when he should have taken less to sign with a better team? To act like a player should take less money to play for a team that's better now, but who knows what things will look like in a couple years is ridiculous. He doesnt owe us any loyalty, so why shouldnt money be a consideration?
once again....im saying this based on REPORTS that coles himself wants to be a dolphin.....yet he has been offered more money by the bills so thats why he hasnt signed with us yet.....so he would be absolutley signing for the money...considering the man wants to come here!!!! but wont because we have a lower offer than the bills......
All i know is that i cant wait untill this is settled and i hope we end up with a good deal for someone somehow.
A team really wanting you can also go along way in convincing you it's a better situation I'd imagine. I hear what you're saying though. I think those reports are probably a bit overblown, and that he would like to be a Dolphin...if the money is right. Cant really expect him to drop his market value too much to come here.
Could be that the reason we are dragging our feet on Coles is because of the Goody situation...now that he is out of our picture, they may feel they have to go after one of the CBs available and whoever it is, won't come cheap...(my money, if I were spending, would be on Bartel...but it's not my money to spend...)
Precisely, we've offered him nothing but he's not sure he can accept that. http://www.kffl.com/player/1365/NFL
Notice I didn't say he needed to feed his family. If he can make half a mil to one mil or more, puts away just the difference just in an interest bearing account his family is that much better off in the future. Loving a team that you probably never loved and that never loved you over your family IMO is a dumb thing to do. This isn't zach or or dan we're talking about here Posted via Mobile Device
wow haha we call him......"hey....we dont want you...so dont believe anything you read...thanks pal" click haha i love this front office
SOURCE: FINS HAVE NO INTEREST IN COLES Miami DolphinsA Miami Dolphins team source said the club has no interest in signing wide receiver Laveranues Coles and reuniting him with quarterback Chad Pennington. The New York Jets restructured Coles' contract Wednesday, allowing the veteran wide receiver to become an unrestricted free agent. But, according to the source, the Dolphins immediately alerted Coles' agent that the team would have no interest in bringing him aboard. -- Chris Mortensen, ESPN senior NFL analyst
Anything he makes under 6 million dollars the Jets have to pay. I am not so sure money will be the issue
