Nah we need to show we can win in cold besides beating the good teams.
The Browns and Jets suck but it's going to be cold.

The Dolphins have literally never been very good in the cold. If that was your criteria as to whether they were good or not why did you became a fan?

The 2024 team has a better chance than previous ones. Our defense is better and our offense is more balanced. Let's see what happens. But as danmarino said, this is just the latest goalpost that will likely be moved.

Guess according to you the season is over.
You are already making excuses if they don't.

Historically, Miami hasn't won that often in the cold. That is true but this is where the MEN on this team are going to have to dig down DEEP and find that mental toughness and harness it.

One of the things I always stressed with my soldiers is physical activity is only 10% physical, 90% mental. Your body can withstand 10 times more punishment that you think it can so it's all mental.

This is true. Even Dan Marino struggled when he played in the cold. What's been frustrating is seeing how the schedule the past few seasons hasn't allowed us to take advantage of our home field advantage. We beat Buffalo at home in 2022 and they cried about how hot it was. Josh Allen was staggering around towards the end of the game and the heat definitely played a role in the outcome. Then in late December we have to not only play in Buffalo but it gets flexed to 8pm making it much colder. This season we get Buffalo early under the lights, early 1pm home games against Jax & Arizona (two hot weather teams), and the Jets home in December but on the road in January. We're criticized for not playing well in the cold while cold weather teams get out of hot Sunday 1pm conditions. They designed Hard Rock stadium to take advantage of the heat from 1-4 and it seems like the league is scheduling around those important early season home games.

What your saying is true but they need to smash THIS narrative. Right now it looks like it’s going to be in the 20’s with 10mph winds and no snow. While cold, it’s not like KC game cold.

The home team typically loses on Thanksgiving. They have all the people coming over, who’s cooking the turkey. The road team has only the game to think about.

It would be nice to smash this narrative, but it’s not likely. That’s not saying the Dolphins can’t and have never won in the cold, but it’s the exception and has been since their inception. It’s weird and I’m not really sure why this is.
It’s like the Bucs. They were something like 0-25 in their first 40 years as a team in games 40 degrees and under. They finally got a win in the early 2000’s in those temps.

So pretending that this is a “Tua” thing is asinine. And that’s the new goal post for the Tua haters. If they win on Thursday, however, he still won’t be good enough or part of the reason they won. Watch…

It takes time for our bodies to acclimate to any change in temperature. If the team spent a month in a cold climate they would get used to it.

I'm not. I've decided that being a skeptical fan isn't worth it. I'm fine with the losses hurting more since it means the emotion from wins is stronger too. There is nothing wrong with a little sadness. I get that "Prove it" is how the NFL has always worked. It's always been full of narratives being built and destroyed. Drew Brees and Peyton Manning were post season chokers until they weren't. Steve Young has that famous monkey off my back clip for a reason. All time greats that had to deal with the same nonsense that Tua has. They could lose Thursday and still make the playoffs, and win there. They could win Thursday and still miss out on the playoffs. Either way, it's more fun to care and expect greatness. Besides, I think the Dolphins match up well with the Packers.

True, but it's not like they are camping outdoors. They have heaters and cold weather gear. In the Marine Corps we would regularly have to go from hot to cold and train, with little to no acclimation, and we did just fine. I'm sure acclimation has something to do with it, but the overall failure rate for winning a 3 hour football game is puzzling to me. I could see snow and ice, but even then, cold weather teams rarely practice in those conditions and instead practice indoors.

I've always been a game to game type of person. I do look forward into the season, of course, but a win is a win and it makes me happy.

I do know that this team is the best we've had in around 2 decades or longer and I'm not going to pigeonhole my love of this team and game on some sort of expectation that requires a lot of luck and things just falling the right way. If the Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, LA Chargers, and Buffalo Bills (all teams that have never won a SB) can be fans of their respective teams then I sure as hell can be a fan of mine and just live in the moment.

Sure, losses hurt, and like most people I may say things out of anger and disappointment, but I get over those losses quickly and look forward to the next win. Of course the GOAL is to win a SB, but that's a very lofty goal. And if that's my benchmark as to whether I like being a fan of my team then I'm not really a good fan.

Now, some will criticize that, fine, but a fan MUST be optimistic and find the good through the bad or they just aren't good fans. I think that's objectively true and there's not a good argument against that statement.

I think some of the cold weather statistics are biased because they have a higher percentage of playoff games where teams are stronger than in the regular season, which means home field advantage is a confound — a cold weather game would typically occur under two conditions: 1) both teams are cold weather teams, or 2) the home team is the cold weather team. The exception being variability in the weather of course, but variability can be assumed to affect both cold and warm weather teams equally.

As far as SB appearances, cold weather teams are over-represented, but that's mostly due to just one team: NE Patriots who went to the SB a total of 11 times. Go down the list and the next are: Pittsburgh, Dallas, Denver and SF, all with 8 SB appearances. Two of those are (historically in the case of Dallas) warm weather teams and two cold weather. Next is KC with 6, then Washington, GB, Miami, NYG, Raiders and Rams with 5. Again, equal mix of warm and cold weather teams.

So I think the statistics are just biased a bit due to the Patriots and the fact many cold weather games are playoff games.

hitman8 did say Chop Robinson was (already) a bust, just not in the post danmarino quoted.

Serpico Jones said "Chop Robinson is horrible" to which hitman8 replied:
    https://thephins.com/threads/fins-vs-colts.99127/page-3#post-3662156
btw.. it's worth mentioning dolphin25 "liked" that post (as well as others by hitman8 saying Chop was a bust in the making), so it's ironic he was the one asking who claimed Chop Robinson was a bust lol.
