No, that's not really how it went down. In regards to the comment I disagreed with,

which who cares whose thought it is at this point, I said

Then you said (In direct response to my quote above - go back and check if you don't believe me)

(This to me is you defending the statement as if it was your own, not someone else's.)

    To which I said -

To which you then replied -

There you have it. Each piece of the conversation as it happened. Each time we were both responding directly the specific piece of text in question. Your version has nothing to do with the point I was trying to make which was Pat White obviously was a successful college player.

If you want to continue cherrypicking pieces of posts to write a different story feel free. Whether it was your thought or someone else's I don't agree with it. Pat White's college resume is all the evidence I need for that argument.

As for his future in the NFL, you obviously don't think he was worth the pick. I do. Either one of us could be wrong. Only time will tell. Just as it's told us something about all the other debates we've had. Matt Ryan, John Beck, Chad Pennington, etc. I'm really hoping you end up being wrong about Pat White as well, and as you've said, I know you also hope you are wrong.

I am legitimately sorry you feel that way. I admit I was out of line with inferring you think that I, or any other member here is illiterate. But maybe you can see from what I posted above, why I don't think it was so crazy for me to think that thought about Pat White was your own. You say it wasn't, so I'll drop it. You have to realize if you look back at some of your responses to me, that some of your verbage and responses were pretty snarky and less than courteous. So maybe both of us should take some more time before responding.

People drawing conclusions on Whites ability to play as a normal quarterback at this point are really stretcing credibility. Its very early in camp after he has changed his throwing motion, learning to drop back from center, has had the complexity of his reads ratched up several notches, and has been discouraged from taking off running. If Pennington and Henne went down in preseason, White as a starter wouldnt be doing alot of the things they are having him do in camp with an eye towards development. They arent using him to his strengths, they are breaking him down to develop him

I think the way the NFL is going, you are going to need some spread offense in your playbook. I certainly can see us running the spread option a good amount, but it all depends on opponent and circumstance. The only thing teams figured out last year was that Ronnie Brown can't throw. Once they realized this, all they needed to do was bring the extra men in the box.

Right now Urban Meyers spread-option is almost indefensible.

Take away Peyton Manning's ability to read a defense and he isn't selected as high in the draft either :wink2:. Fact of the matter is, Vick is a dual threat QB, and you can't discredit that. He took his team to the conference finals. A team that didn't have much firepower aside from him. You can make the argument that Vick isn't a top-tier QB, but to say he disappeared in the NFL is a little ridiculous.

It says that they think Henne can be a QB in this league. Henne and White do different things. I'm not sure you can compare them without being able to tell what systems are prevalent 5 years from now.

All this Pat White talk boils down to just that, what systems teams will be running in the NFL. Will someone devise a system to negate the advantage the spread-option provides? Maybe. I can't predict the future.

But one thing I do know, is that right now its something I think you can run with great success. The talent is readily available for anyone willing to implement the system. I would rather spend a 2nd rounder to be ahead of the curve than be behind it :wink2:

Much respect DPate, all true imo. dont know why this is so hard for anyone to realize. They are training the skilled athlete to play the position because thats the right thing to do,, they have'nt forgotten why they drafted him, this is how you do things when your committed to the hybrid longterm. He needs to learn the foundation of the position, so the hybrid itself can be versatile in the moment and suddenly switch offenses from play to play....They will not put the kid in 7 step drop read the defense situations...WHY?, because we ALL know thats not his strengths...The kid has strengths that fit with the evolution of this offense.

The wildcat, Pat white, and Ronnie brown, will grow together, nice and slowly.
