padre31Luxury BoxOPMike Giardi of CSNNE reports that a source tells him the Patriots have a "strong interest" in Aaron Schobel.
Giardi also adds that unlike Junior Seau, Shobel is looking for big money. Schobel would join Tully Banta-Cain as the starting linebackers, relegating Rob Ninkovich to backup duty. Whether or not the Patriots decide to bring Schobel on board probably hinges on how confident the team is with rookie third rounder Jermaine Cunningham seeing playing time right off the bat. Should they feel unsatisfied, Schobel would be a great fit.
Not seeing it, Schobel is 33, they just dumped one 33 yr old, and unless Belichick is serious about running the 4-3, it is a expensive square peg into round hole situation.
I do think Schobel will land somewhere unexpected, meaning not with the Texans, but the Pats do not make much sense.

padre31Luxury BoxAccording to ESPN's Paul Kuharsky, indications are that it will take some time before free agent Aaron Schobel decides where to sign.
Schobel's hometown Texans were seen as a lock just after his release from the Bills. There are now reports that the Patriots are showing a "strong interest" and that Schobel isn't willing to pass up a sweet monetary offer if one comes his way
Texans are loaded at the DE position so Schobel makes little sense to go there barring injury, however with the Pats and Broncos in dire need of passrushers, Schobel has options above a Vet minimum hometown discount deal with the Texans.
