Injuries have prevented pass rusher Shane Ray from reaching his potential as an NFL player

These are the kind of logical targets for the Miami Dolphins at this juncture in the off-season. Ray has high injury potential but also high promise. Way back in 2016, Ray — as a second-year pro — logged 8 sacks for the Denver Broncos and appeared to have turned the corner.

I can't really speak to scheme fit, but taking chances on athletic first rounders who busted out with their first team can produce some good rebounds. For a team as talent deficient as we are, it could pay dividends for sure. I'm curious to see what the Jets do with Darron Lee as well, though again, I really can't speak to scheme fit.

Shane Ray is a bit of an odd duck, and I think it's the reason why he's available for the second "round" of free agency despite his age and some production. He looks like an OLB, the Broncos tried to make that work, but he's a 250 pound guy who is probably better rushing inside the tackle(either starting inside or attacking the inside shoulder of an OT). His change of direction pretty well sucks.

I think he falls kind of awkwardly between DE and OLB in this defense, and they might be hesitant to add another exception when you've already got a somewhat similar Missouri edge player in the same kind of boat with Charles Harris. I don't think either of them have much of a chance to contribute in coverage, which hurts them at OLB, and neither have the kind of anchor or arm length for DE here. It's hard to build a defensive scheme out of guys who are exceptions.

    He IS an injury history!

He has a solid second year in 2016, playing in all 16 games and totaling eight sacks, 21 QB hits and 48 tackles. But he injured his wrist before the 2017 season, and ended up having three surgeries on it that year, and another in 2018. He also had an ankle injury that kept him off the field last season as well.

He played in 19 games total the last two seasons, with 2 sacks and 21 tackles.

Honestly I dont think the injuries matter to our plans. I'm sure the deal would be absolutely minimal and we wouldnt lose anything by cutting him next offseason.

I'd be fine with him having to try and earn a roster spot. We should be bringing in every cast off with an ounce of talent this year.

I've also read that he's not signed because he's looking for the kind of money he might have gotten had he not spent to much time injured. If that's the case, he likely won't be going anywhere for a while.

I'm looking for the kind of money I might have gotten if I didnt play video games in my spare time and worked on improving myself as much as possible. Maybe I should hire his agent lol
