other than picks who do we really have that gb would take in a trade? ricky williams? their rb did pretty good last season as a rook. it would probalbly end up a player/pick type of thing and im not sold on him coming here and wasting another yr on the guys we have now..lets see what they can do first atleast in tc.
My guess would be picks. This could be a reason of why we got a second rounder for Jason. The reported asking price of Favre is a first or second rounder.
I think it means they assume we're always looking for a QB. This should probably die on the vine pretty quickly. I've also heard the Ravens aren't interested. I can't believe the Texans would seriously nibble.
yea well trading second rounders for qb's hasn't been our strong suit lately..why get rid of a guy who only wanted to be here one more yr for another older guy that only wants to be here one more yr who has some durability issues? before you say farve has no duribility issues think about how long he has been playing then think about the line he will be playing behind(while it is looking up it really could go either way this yr with a rook lt and possibly a rook gaurd)...it's only a matter of time that farve goes down and our luck it would be in training camp for the phins. i would much rather keep that second either for the draft or to bring in a guy we are weak at. i would rather play out this yr with one of the young guys we have than someone who gets a senior discount at wendy's.
I just don't think that a) Favre would want to come here and b) he really fits into Tunaland's plan. They've dumped the old guys (ZT, JT, Traylor, etc) and are going into full rebuild. Favre has played in the WCO all his career. Do any of our coaches have any experience in the WCO ?? Have you looked at the success rate of QBs who have converted or tried to convert back to the vertical offenses ?? Garcia, Carr, Harrington, going back a few years remember Steve Youngs' tenure with the Bucs...any similarity ring a bell ?? I just can't see Favre to Miami as a good fit for either party...
He wants to stay in the cold weather, and two teams come to mind for me that he would help and maybe get into the playoffs, the Bills or the Jets. Since they are AFC teams it makes more since for the Packers also. PS The Jets say no, but don't discount it. They still have to release their PSL program for the new stadium, and the Giants are getting killed on the radio after announcing theirs. What a better time to announce it for Woody Johnson than after trading for Farve, it would be buried.
