This topic has gone own for a while now, dating back to the regular season. I posted Palantonio's first article regarding this subject at Finheaven and there was a lot of talk over it. He then came out and rephrased his comments after he received criticism. Now hes back at it again ........... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=paolantonio_sal&id=3281535
Favre did regress heavily but don't forget his age. The fact he could still play at a high level (and even better than our more recent QB's) is testament enough to how good he is. Essentially, he followed a Marino-like twilight and his gunslinging ways were unable to be supported by declining age. Harsh way of saying it but he's essentially right. Favre's a powerful symbol and deservedly so. He doesn't do drugs, doesn't take roids, doesn't get in legal troubles, puts 110% every game, fights through age and pain (both physical and emotional).
He doesn't do drugs now but he did have drug problems in the mid 90's I believe. He popped pills and was an addict at one point. He stopped in 98 or 99 and has refused to take any medication to treat injuries as a result of that. I learned that information from an interview that was presented on ESPN Classic a while back.
Pain killers can be addictive when you use it a lot but that just shows how strong Favre's will can be. He understood he had an issue and went to the extremes to fix it. I guess the drugs I was thinking of more were like MJ, crack, etc.
That's true, lol I was just pointing it out since you said he doesn't do drugs. Even though doesn't is in the present tense.
