So Idaho just signed a law making it illegal for a transgender girl/woman to participate in girls/women sports. I applaud their stance on making sure that sports stay fair. What are your opinions? https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/31/us/idaho-transgender-bills/index.html
I love all people and truly do not care who they want to date or how they want to express themselves, as long as both parties are of legal age and willing. But to say that someone who was born a man, can play sports with women is as pathetic as it gets. It is a disservice to all the hard working female athletes who are forced to compete with the natural physicality of a man/boy. I feel strange I have to even explain this, seems obvious to me.
If I'm being 100% honest, I believe we're all made in God's image and He didn't get it wrong...if you're born a man, then you're a man. My oldest daughter (the one who got married last year) is now claiming to be gay and I outwardly support her 100%...I'll love her regardless and will be there for her. But at the same time, I've made it plainly clear that she's not going to be making out with girls in our house...just like my other daughter won't be making out with boys in our house. Somehow my oldest daughter got it in her head that she should be treated "special" because of her new sexual preference and that's where the whole country has blown this- if you want me to be accepting, then you have to be accepting of my core beliefs as well and not use gay pride as an excuse for exceptions to be made. If you force me into a "it's great to be gay" conversation then yeah, I'm going to force you into a "it's great to believe in Jesus and have salvation" conversation. Don't step all over my beliefs in your path to happiness and assume it's okay. In terms of the OP, I don't believe a man should be able to take estrogen treatment to become a woman and then compete in women's sports....because you're not a woman. It's an unfair advantage and an insult to all the actual women who train hard to be the best. I'm sorry, but sports are almost as sacred as religion. Rules are meant to be followed to the letter....including the part where you can't grow up as a man and turn into an ultra-muscular woman to compete against what you perceive as "peers".
I believe we are all made in God's image so if you are born transgender, then you are transgender. To say different is saying that God is wrong and that is blasphemy and you are going to burn in hell. Saying that, I think this is a complicated issue and there is no right answer. I lean towards that transgender people whose body is more male has a specific advantage. However, if a person is born with all their female parts but has a mutation that increases their testosterone then they could be lumped with them. Then it is like banning Lebron James from basketball because he was born with unusual lungs that give him an advantage.
this is a dangerous discussion and should be removed just like the political forum. I'm not a fan of a transgender woman playing woman sports - if it's a sport with a physical nature where there is a big advantage. having said that, the "I believe we're all made in God's image and He didn't get it wrong...if you're born a man, then you're a man" is maybe the stupidest, most offensive thing I've read in thePhins in quite some time.
Well, I'm bored, so I figured I'd respond. A man, at his basic biological make-up, is a man. Same with a woman. Lots of people have mental disorders and rarely do we see people telling them that it's OK like we do with gender dysphoria. On the flip side, rarely do we see bigotry or hatred for those with mental disorders like we see with gender dysphoria. Gender Dysphoria is a mental disorder. Allowing a person with a mental disorder to mangle and deform their bodies with drugs and surgery is beyond irresponsible and borderline cruel. All a person has to do is look at the record of transgender men while competing in women's sports in order to see how unfair it is. It's a blood bath. Banning James from basketball for being born the way he is doesn't make sense. I mean, if he take drugs in order change himself he would be banned.
