Curveball....what about a crazy plot in INDY....Peyton sits out season for recovery....no solid back up; they tank, and draft Luck...let him learn under Peyton for 3 seasons...then rock and roll for another 15yrs, etc.

These guys (Ireland and Sparano) are putting alot of faith in guys that haven't earned it. We'll see what happens. While I like what I see so far, I'm not ready to classify Daboll as some kind of genius until I see how he calls plays duuring the regular season.

Same thing with Henne. A decent pre-season is nice, but do it week after week in the regular season and then we'll talk.

Daboll doesn't have to be a genius to be an upgrade over what we had last year. As I've said in the past, I believe we would have been better off using a magic 8-ball to pick the plays last year. And I don't get the point of waiting until after the season to talk about things. I enjoy and generally do well at the projection. It's not like we're going to spend a great deal of time discussing whether or not Marino will be good in 1984. As for Henne, he was consistent last year. His passes and his decisions didn't vary much from game to game or even quarter to quarter. What varied was the play calling. In the 4th quarter defenses would start jumping our predictable plays and get more picks, but most of that was on the OC not Henne. My belief is that Henne would be about an Orton level QB if he doesn't improve a lick and just has a good OC. That's what we've seen this preseason. His decision making is about the same, but the plays and patterns are better. The only thing that he has improved is his ability to extend plays. The rest is the same, fans just tend to blame everything on the QB so they think that he's showing something different.

I would say he may have improved ever so slightly but that's correct, Henne's performances in these two games aside from the famous Fasano interception in Atlanta have been more or less in line with what he does when he had 3 WRs last year and didn't have idiotic PA calls.

You can make any projection you want.

I'm just tired of getting either overly excited or overly depressed about pre-season.

I really don't care whether or not Henne looks like Dan Marino next week against the Bucs because if he follows that up with 3 INT's against NE then it wouldn't have made a lick of difference

I can't see us using as much spread in the regular season as we have in the preseason, but it should certainly be more than we used last season.

At least when it comes to Henne, I see much more over-criticism and depression than I see anybody getting overly excited. I'm pretty tired of that myself.

You could have fooled me after reading the "Good, Bad and Ugly" thread for last weeks game.

In that one I, along with CK and others, were specifically called out for not praising Henne to the heavens during the game.

It's our best formation, the 31 or the 22 with Clay as the additional TE, I hope we use it as our primary package. It helps Henne see the field better, gives us more favorable matchups in the pass game, less punishment for Bush in the run game etc. The less I see of Polite/Mastrud/Epps & co the better.

I've yet to see anybody praise Henne "to the heavens" much less anybody called out for not doing it. I did see much over-criticism.
