Wow, can someone fire this ****ing idiot? How do you get the fans so excited about terrible news like that is just, plain evil.
I really don't see the reason. If this is true, this is the psychological equivalent to tearing both his ACLs and his MCLs as well. Any psychiatrist worth his money would tell you that this a darn good reason to retire. Note: I happen to know a thing or two about this disorder, since I have someone in the family with it.
Because he made it sound like it had to do with a player move.....while I think its great Marshall has been able to diagnose the problem....Omar tweeted that just to pull people in....
I didn't even read the article. I skipped out on porn for this? I hope Omar catches some sort of curable STD so that it's annoying & painful but not life threatening.
Not to sound like an ***....but i only care about Brandon Marshall, the football player and not Brandon Marshall, the person.
Exactly. In the middle of FA extravaganza he drops this crap when he damn well KNOWS that people are hanging on the belief we signed someone big. Can we stick his dreads into a blender, feet first preferably?
When you follow up a tweet of this: The Dolphins officially signed Kevin Burnett. with this: And that's not the big news. Stay tuned. That makes me believe there's a signing that's bigger news.
OK, I feel some sympathy for Marshall and it easily explains his sometimes bizarre behavior, but for Omar to toy with people like that, well thats f***ed up. He purposely tweets that big news thing knowing we all expect some sort of player movement at a time when we desperately need some good news. That really ticks me off.
Read up on the condition. I'm not trying to be an ***, but people with a real case of borderline usually require constant psychological treatment and can't really function in any work environment. It's nothing you can treat, really, it's like (as far as a "cure" goes) like being born schizophrenic or sociopathic.
Omar knew that.....which is why its a jackass move.....and in the end...takes away from Marshall's story. That guys a huge deuch..
Borderline Personality is a horrendous diagnosis that is impossible to "treat." They are impulsive. They borderline between psychosis and neurosis (hence the name). They are infamous at doing something called splitting, which they view people as all good or all bad (e.g. that coach is a piece of crap, while he is great). They can be suicidal. They fail to maintain relationships because of these issues. From the DSM IV: Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment. Note: Do not include suicidal or self-injuring behavior covered in Criterion 5 A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation. Identity disturbance: markedly and persistently unstable self-image or sense of self. Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self-damaging (e.g., promiscuous sex, eating disorders, binge eating, substance abuse, reckless driving). Note: Do not include suicidal or self-injuring behavior covered in Criterion 5 Recurrent suicidal behavior, gestures, threats or self-injuring behavior such as cutting, interfering with the healing of scars (excoriation) or picking at oneself. Affective instability due to a marked reactivity of mood (e.g., intense episodic dysphoria, irritability or anxiety usually lasting a few hours and only rarely more than a few days). Chronic feelings of emptiness Inappropriate anger or difficulty controlling anger (e.g., frequent displays of temper, constant anger, recurrent physical fights). Transient, stress-related paranoid ideation, delusions or severe dissociative symptoms More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borderline_personality_disorder The worst part is a personality disorder isn't some treatable disease. It is INTRINSIC to the person.
Notice how he got everyone following his tweets...then says..here is the big news...and a link to his article. He did it just to boost the clicks...which makes him a grade A ***.....I bet he could care less about Marshall's disorder...
Iam happy that he has found out what ails him, I think thats great news for himself and can help his teammates understand him more, and as crazy as it sounds, something that can bring them all a little closer together as a team and their love for each other.. I also think it can help his game and focus...Thats good news for our team
I have to say that a reassuring sign is that he has insight to what is wrong with him. Oftentimes people with Personality Disorders have no insight in their "illness."
we should probably lock this thread and let it die a slow death rather than give Omar more followers.
me too, I feel sympathy for him as well, as it explains a lot of his behavior, Ive been rough on him this offseason to clean up his act, I will have much more patience now..I'am sure this is a pretty big load offhis chest and having his teammates around him must be something that humbles him...It also explains his defense of his wife, he probably had an episode or something and she had to take the hit, hell he might of tried to hurt himself ya know?
I dont understand.....................why so many people that SAY they dont like Omar..........follow his tweets.......................but maybe thats just me.
There's really no way to actually cure it. You can try to keep it within "reasonable" boundaries with a lot of medication and psychological sessions, but in the end, we're taking about someone who's just wrong in the head. I don't mean that in a negative sense at all, it's just like you're dealing with a psychopath, technically speaking. You can't cure it or treat it or control it. You can just ease it.
That would make my day, week, month... I'd have to re-evaluate my "glass half empty" status of the Fins so far...
wow..in your opinion, has he done an amazing job of being a professional athlete dealing with it?.. The childlike reactions explains a lot ya know?, the death of his friend in denver probably really screwed him up for a while too?.. Talk about battling your demons..
Honestly, I can't tell you. I'll illustrate it with an analogy: Say Brandon Marshall was a German soccer player (you know we're as big on soccer as you guys are on football) and got diagnosed with this. I guarantee you, he wouldn't play even one more match. Not because we've got anything against mental illnesses, but because doctors would say, this dude isn't fit for doing this kind of job. They'd take him out pronto and so would the league. His career would be over, but he'd be well taken care of by his insurance. Now, I'm not saying that what we'd do was right. It's a different kind of mentality with the same kind of condition. Maybe playing professional sports helps someone with this condition, maybe it does the opposite. There's really little way of telling. I hope that Marshall's going to be okay, but the truth is, this is a totally unpredictable kind of condition and probably Marshall would be better off taking care of his personal condition than the football field. He's made enough money. It's not worth eventually killing yourself over, which, unfortunately, is what a lot of borderlines end up doing if not treated properly.
Braylon Edwards has awful hands and produced less 20+ yard gains last season on a per game basis than Hartline. He is literally the definition of a hype signing.
