Let's start here: Five years ago, Ricky Williams woke up one day and didn't want to eat red meat. No good reason. He just didn't. And that one day became two days. Then a week. A month.

It sounds, as Williams explains his diet's evolution, like Forrest Gump running to the end of his driveway, then once he got there deciding to continue through town, and eventually running all the way across the country without plotting it that way.

Five meat-less years later, Ricky sits at his locker, the one with four game balls casually strewn on the bottom, and explains how the diet has helped. He's five intentional pounds lighter. He feels lighter still.

"Most of the toxicity in our diet affects our joints,'' he says. "My joints are better today than five years ago. And I don't feel as thick. I'm quicker than I've ever been."
