Kind of like they did with MVP and Hardy.....adds an interesting plot twist to their matches.

seems like they've used the tag titles in similar fashion before, with Austin and HBK, and then Rock and Foley winning them in the lead up to their own matches.

I'm not feeling the IC/Women's title combo match at Summer Slam. That type of match should have been for the WH/IC titles.

anybody catch Edge's performance on Smackdown with Vicki, where he was intimidating her in the corner?

i guess he has seen The Dark Knight, because with al the lip licking and facial gestures, he was trying to channel Heath Ledger.

by the way, the leadup to that match with Taker has been very good. from that piece to he and Foley's work. good stuff.

He plays a good nut job. (Edge). The build up with the Taker match is nice. The Foley reference to Hell in the Cell, was also a nice addition. Its always good to bring newer generations of fans to know the match that was by far the greatest hell in the cell ever, IMO. The writing has actually gotten ALOT, better on Smackdown. The show is fun to watch for the most part. Love the Hardy, MVP rivalry.

he literally cannot stand up in the ring without using the ropes to pull himself up. and he doesn't need to prove anything else. his legacy is already very well defined.

Meh, none of those guys were going to do anything. Stevie has always been under utilized. I think these releases may have somethign to do with their stock being down as well. You cut the fat and all of a sudden the bottom line starts looking alittle bit better.

I'm out of the loop a bit, but I've heard that Bob Holly is in danger of losing his job. I say it's about freakin' time not only is the guy a complete jerk to new guys/rookies (yeah I understand playing dues but the guy took total advantage of them) but he had 1 good year in 1999 when he was a little interesting and a little over. 1 good year out of 14 is unreal, how he kept his job for this long is unreal. Not only that but he's not even a good worker or good with the mike.

Holly has always had an inside edge because he was "the teachers pet" but now that he's falling out of favor he's prob. headed for the door.

Nah but I heard the Jericho/Michaels interview/angle was great. But I'm sure the WWE will piss it away but having HBK beat Jericho clean at the next PPV.

Didn't watch. Frankly, I didn't know it was even on tonight until a little while ago. From what I read, the Jericho/Michaels bit was insanely well done, and the Edge/Taker match was the best match of the year and worth the price of admission. Everything else was blah.

nah, it's not Road Warrior Animal, it's his brother, who wrestled under the name Johnny Ace.

he was pretty big in Japan as a tag teamer, and wrestled in WCW as one half of the "Dynamic Dudes" tag team with Shane Douglas.

he took Jim Ross's role as "talent coordinator" (or some similar title) a few years back.

The Gail Kim signing would do well for WWE. The Women's division on Smackdown is becoming respectable.

WWE has compiled a list of their top 25 all-time wrestlers entrance music.

    http://www.wwe.com/inside/top25/top25entrancethemes/

they give a nod to the Freebirds for innovating the use of theme music. and i realize they are going to go heavy on stuff they produced, but seriously, leaving off "2001" for Ric Flair is ridiculous.

Interesting list, I don't agree with a lot of the newer themes but I'm surprised along with leaving Flair's off that Demolition, Rick Rude, Macho Man, New Aged Outlaws, The Rockers and the Big Boss Man was left off. I also think that Tazz, Benoit and Ken Shamrock's themes were great too.

I haven't looked at the list, but for my money, here are some of the best themes of all time:

-Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase: The Money theme is even my ringtone today

-Undertaker: Whenever that first gong shot goes off, instant pop

-Original D-X: I can't remember the guys name, but they sounded like Rage Against the Machine and really helped usher in the NEW style of entrance themes

-NWO Theme: The poorno party music was perfect for that cast of characters and helped add to the overall edginess of that group

-Stone Cold Steve Austin: Glass shatters, *** gets whooped.

-Sabu's ECW Theme: I love this song. Its loud, obnoxious and off the wall...perfect for Sabu

-Real American: Hulk's theme still rules.

i remember Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff going through something similar back in the old days, when he was on top as a bad guy and working with Hogan in title matches. he had a similar situation with his neck, and was afraid of losing his spot, and the money he was making, and never took time off.

eventually he did permanent nerve damage and even when he made his comeback, one arm was puny compared to the other.

he looked like a pro armwrestler, with one giant arm and the other normal sized.

and speaking of "Mr Wonderful" they should have given him at least one title run. he actually used to make Hogan look decent in the ring.

Oh this could be a huge debate for me. The following are a list of names of people the WWE SHOULD have given a title run too, but never did:

    "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig
    "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase
    "Ravishing" Rick Rude
    "Jake "The Snake" Roberts
    Vader
    Razor Ramon
Owen Hart (during the Bret Hart fued)
    Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
Golddust (during his initial run as a heel, or when he turned face with Marlena down the road, he was WAY over)

All were extremely over at one point in their careers and most were heels which could have drawn tremendous business for the faces involved.

As for Raw tonight, it was background noise for me as I was reading. I turned it on late and had some observations:

-Was CM Punk even on the show? I turned it on about 20 minutes late, so unless he was on in the first segment, he was the disappearing champion tonight. Not a good sign.

-Why do they insist on punking Carlito each and every week on Raw? It would be fine if Carlito could get some airtime, but he is off camera and working for the other brand. It is just stupid to humiliate your workers like that simply because they speak their mind.

-The HBK-Y2J segment was great as usual. Those two should always fued. The only thing I might have added to it would have been for Cade to attack Michaels from behind, only to have Michaels just DESTROY him. Go to town on his face, have Cade blade and complain about his eye. Then have Michaels nail the eye for an eye line.

-I am glad to see actual tag teams fighting over the tag team titles

-Santino is still rocking everybody else of the show. He is so freaking funny and awesome it is not even close for second place.

-I have officially given up on the Kane character, but I did like that match tonight with Batista.

i agree with every name on that list. i know there is only so much time and everyone cannot have a title run, but at one time or another, they all deserved it.

    Dibiase and Perfect in particular.

and i actually thought Vader did get one title run in WWE, but i am probably wrong.

Yes he fought jbl early on. Looks like they are taking some air out of jbls tires...... because punk beat him.

I agree, personally I think it is their own fault for not doing more with carlito.

I agree it is an awesome match up that could give raw a great push and could also go down as one of the great rivalries.

Glad to see they are starting a potentially long standing rivalry. I for one am a fan of both teams, though both need work especially on the mike.

Agreed, he will become popular very soon imo.
If taken for awhile the kane batista rivalry can be potentially a good one. I don't know about the whole torture misterio thing, but I do like seeing kane getting a bit more of a push.
All in all sad to see cena's career might be in trouble. Misterio is more then an adequate replacement though. We might even see a batista misterio match up in the future. I also hope they can expand the tag team division a bit more, I think they have a good start right now.

Vader won it in WCW but never in the WWE. And Piper perhaps when it was earlier into his career. I never really liked him much as a wrestler. I thought his IC run was pretty good though. Ending perfectly with Bret Hart beating him at a Wrestlemania.

Piper and Wonderful both should have held the belt at some point during the 80's ... probably would have helped to prolong Hogan's first WWF run.
