I didn't think it was a foul when it happened. After watching the video you can clearly see Davis pushing Lewis- Lewis' body reacts to the push and the fat kid created the separation he needed from it.
I've seen it 5 times now and there is no foul. Rashard Lewis is clearly going over to guard Pierce. No but KG is a top 5 defensive player in the league and a top offensive threat. If he were playing, Boston would be so much better. So much better they wouldn't have struggled against Chicago and would be having an easier time with Orlando.
I've seen the video...a few times. I still wouldn't say that was a foul. If the refs don't call moving screens on every teams possession, they're definitely not calling that an offensive foul. I don't mind the double team. I'd much rather have Fat Boy taking jump shots at the buzzer than Paul Pierce.
If Jameer Nelson were playing, Orlando would be so much better, we would have a guy running the offense who shoots top tier 3pt % & creates huge problems for other guards. He also has the best connection with Dwight Howard for getting him the ball in tight windows & allys. The fact is that anyone who sits there criticizing Orlando for not beating the Celtics "without KG" are complete idiots. Our injured All-Star puts up better numbers and controls the game much more than KG does.
Saying that the Celtics would hypothetically be way better in the playoffs with KG is not a fact. You can't make that claim while dismissing the fact that the Magic have been playing without their all star ball handler for much longer than the Celtics have been without KG. And Dwight has missed time, and been in foul trouble multiple times during the postseason and the Magic have played just as good, even better, than the Celtics with Dwight out.
It was a good shot. As plain as that. I could go back and count numerous calls that could've went the other way, but to sit here and whine about it is pointless. It should have never come down to that last play. The Celtics went about 5-6 minutes there down the stretch where they couldn't score a point and Orlando didn't capitalize and make a big run. I knew this would happen as soon as the Magic won game 1. This thing will probably go 7 games unless the Magic fold up shop and play terrible in Boston.
Rondo can handle Nelson he is another fantastic defensive player on the Celtics. Nelson would clearly be much more effective then Alston who is terrible IMO but if both teams had their starting lineups healthy Boston is the better team and that is what this argument has come to. They should beat Boston without KG because Orlando has the better team when he isn't in the lineup. Jameer Nelson isn't the best player on Orlando where KG arguably is for Boston. Dwight Howard>>Rashard Lewis>>Jameer Nelson.
Rondo drew 3 fouls tonight with no contact being made. The calls were consistently inconsistent. Rondo is an actor, not a basketball player.
If you're crying offensive foul on that play, then that is REALLY sad. First of all, you're kidding yourself if you truly believe that Jameer Nelson is "one of the best PG's" in the league. If that's true, then this league must have really hit rock bottom. And I have major issues with your belief that making the All Star team makes you a true star player in this league. You can question whether or not the guy is a true point guard. Listen, he's a solid player, but to call him a star player is insane. That's an insult to the actual superstars players the NBA has. I'm curious to see your list of the top PG's in this league and where you'd rank Jameer Nelson?
I dont really want to get in the middle of this ridiculous argument, but to say KG is the best player for Boston is ludicrous. Paul Pierce is easily the best weapon for Boston. Rondo is a little *****. I hate that ****ing thug. I've seen him get away with more **** in these playoffs than is imaginable. It makes me want to stop watching the NBA because of **** like he gets away with.
Neither is the Boston players playing like bums outside of Allen and Pierce. And how are the Celtics dirty I don't see elbows being thrown and taking cheapshots on oppsoing teams' players.
I agree that Pierce is the best player on Boston but people will argue KG is Boston's best player that isn't the case with Orlando and Jameer Nelson.
Yeah those moments are the types of plays that I am talking about. The 2 most memorable ones for me tonight were his flop on the sideline against DH, and the non-call for the clear goal tend after Pietrus was fouled going to the basket.
I can name 10-15 point guards either better without question or on the same level as "superstar" Jameer Nelson.
I listed specific examples before making that statement. The Magic flagrant fouls have come as retaliation (and were uncalled for), but they were not the key focus of their gameplan LIKE BOSTON.
I hate him just as much as you do, but boy, I can tell he watched a ton of film on Michael Jordan and Reggie Miller. He grabs, pulls, kicks, etc. in the same fashion that Jordan & Reggie used to do defensively away from the ball (and the referee's attention). It's cheating, but it's smart. I don't approve of it either.
Against Philadelphia the way they played that night... Oklahoma City can win without Durant, Westbrook, and Green.
Also, I disagree that Pierce is more important to Boston than Garnett. Offensively, yes, but overall? No. Kevin Garnett is not only the heart and soul of that basketball team, but he's also the driving force that makes them one of the best (if not the best) team in the league when it comes to getting stops on the defensive end. They're a shell of what they're capable of without EITHER player (or Ray Allen for that matter), but if I've got the choice of suiting up one of the two, I'm certainly going to suit up K.G.
You wouldn't take a PG who has 3 triple doubles this post season and is a top defender? I think if he were to play for the Heat you would get over his sometimes shady play.
Orlando did the same to Boston with Dwight on the bench in the 4th in foul trouble. Magic not only held onto a small lead, but extended it to the point that Dwight never had to come back in. NO DWIGHT, NO NELSON. Celtics did worse. i saw what you wrote the first time. end of debate (or ******ed conversation i guess)
Terrible fit next to Wade instead of Ray Allen where opposing defense's would be able to force him to shoot.
Also, this is not a foul, guys. You're allowed to shed a block like this.... not only that, but the "shove" had no effect on the outcome of positioning. Lewis was rolling out to double team Pierce. Davis would have been THAT open regardless. It doesn't even seem as if the "shove" shifted Rashard's momentum. I wasn't calling either of us ******ed. What we were arguing about was ******ed. We've been going back and forth on what ifs.
i agree that it is a close call on foul or no foul. but much less than that was called against orlando ALL GAME LONG. whats done is done. the officiating in this game was pathetic. nothing can be done to fix it. but i dont have to be happy about it.
so we agree that it is a weak argument to say that IF garnett were healthy the Celtics would be doing better than a Magic team with a healthy Nelson.
