No longer a rumor, its done, per rotoworld: TNT's David Aldridge is reporting that the Kings have agreed to send center Brad Miller and swingman John Salmons to the Bulls in exchange for forwards Drew Gooden and Andres Nocioni. This will be Miller's second stint with the Bulls and he should start at center. Salmons will likely come off the bench in Chicago, Nocioni should come off the bench in Sacramento, while Gooden could start at power forward, or come off the bench behind Jason Thompson. Spencer Hawes now looks like the starting center for the Kings, as soon as this deal is finalized.
Hes said he would love to play in NY throughout his career. He grew up a Knicks fan (more specifically a Ewing fan) as a kid in Trenton NJ. Curry would be dealt to Phoenix under that scenario.
It doesnt even make them cheaper as Nocioni's contract (5yrs/40m left including this year) is frankly ridiculous. All it means is they dont have to worry about losing Salmons for free. IMO it also means Hinrich and/or Gordon being dealt.
That is exactly what I was thinking, it really opens the door for another trade either one of those two or even Deng...
wow. great trade for bulls then. they get a decent player an a expiring contract. they also got rid of Andres Nocioni contracts to just sweeten the deal.
who in their right mind would trade for Hinrich though? when does his contract expire, cuz if not soon, no one is going to touch him.
heinrich is not bad though. i could see portland go after him. he is the perfect compliment to roy IMO..he plays good physical defense and can spot up. he makes to much though. his contract is hideous michael ruffin traded to portland for ike diogu..im not sure i get it
Oh I am not speculating as to who would take him. Just that it seems they still have some excess. Maybe a Heinrich AND Gordon or Deng...
You mean playoff teams like the following wouldnt benefit from better guard play? Portland LAL Houston Dallas Or non playoff contenders: Washinton Minnesota Hinrich has a few years left on his deal (I think 4/40 including this year). Hes still a winning player who gives max effort on both ends. Durability is in question but talent and effort are not.
btw, anyone hearing any rumors about Magics Hedo Turkoglu? his contract expires this year, although he does have a player option and hes not much to much, he could be a player for someone, and im not sure Orlando truely wants to resign him. if it were my guess, id say he wasnt going to be back, we would go after a PF and put Rashard Lewis at 3 where he belongs..
i havent heard anything...i guess for david lee that could work if the knicks want expiring, and magic could get a pf
Hinrich's name is always somehow attached to us. I get the sense the FO and a lot of fans here don't really want him unless it's a total steal. As it stands, I'd be fine with Fisher and especially Farmar. Brown could also surprise defensively.
Portland - for half the price of Hinrich they have Steve Blake & Sergio Rodriguez. what makes you think Hinrich is going to play better then those 2? Lakers - again, for about half they have Derek Fisher and Jordan Farmar. no thanks if im the lakers. the others you could obviously make a arguement for. but is Dallas going to have a 10 million dollar pg coming off the bench or you see them benching kidd for him?
Portland: You kidding? Blake is good at 3's, passing and playing the lanes but defensively hes a waste when it comes to stopping dribble penetration. He lacks the necessary footspeed. Hinrich may not be the fleetest of foot but its an improvement. Lakers: Fisher wore down when he was asked to play heavy minutes when Farmar was out. Farmar has his ups and downs. Consistency wouldnt kill them and it definitely helps when they play a good offensive PG with speed like Rondo or Parker. Dallas already has a 10+m bench player in Jason Terry. It wont be the first time.
Well, Farmar is back so Fish gets to rest more now. No need for back-to-backs in the playoffs. So far, Farmar's been pretty consistent off the bench (as much as one can be). Hinrich isn't someone I'd put on Rondo/Parker until he's 100% (unlikely this season). Bulls would want Odom and that's too much. Unless they're willing to take Morrison for Hinrich, no deal.
Fisher and Morrison wouldnt be bad for LAL though Chicago may want a pick or two. Chicago would get a shooter and some much needed leadership.
In principle, Fish cannot be traded like any other player. The guy came to LA from Utah because of the top notch medical treatment we have here for his daughter that can't be moved elsewhere. Otherwise, he would've retired. Horrible PR act if Mitch does that and it's reason why Fisher isn't being moved or even in considerations to move. And in more legal terms, Morrison can't be packaged.
You can't package Morrison with another player at this point since he was a traded player already. Any deal involving him would have to be a stand alone deal. Speaking of trades and Lakers, It looks as if Chris Mih has been traded to the Grizzlies for a 2013 second round pick. Off move, but he is an expiring contract so I understand the Grizzlies motivation in getting him. But what is L.A. doing? Bynum is still out and their depth behind him is thin with a smaller Gasol filling in and DJ Mbenga behind him now. I wonder if something else is in the works? http://www.commercialappeal.com/new...expiring-contract-lakers-center-/?partner=RSS
I do hope something else is in the works because we did lose some needed size. Mbenga can rebound and block but can't shoot. The 10ppg, 6 rpg that Mihm had as a starter isn't bad and half that as a backup is good enough. Still, Mihm hasn't been the same since the injuries and Mbenga's been really improving in practices. Of course, Bynum's recovery is rosier than expected as well. EDIT: Seems Mbenga and Mihm got into it at practice: http://cbs2.com/video/?id=93487@kcbs.dayport.com

A ton of stuff swirling around the Knicks...Theyre about to have Lee's agent, Mark bartelstein, on ESPN 1050. They host (Brandon Tierney) said that the Knicks and Bulls are discussing Larry Hughes with Ty Thomas and Noah to NYK for Lee, James, and Malik Rose's expiring deals. Also Ive read in a few places (Rotoworld among them), Kirk Hinrich is likely going to the wolves.
You know there are deals that dont really help either side and i think thats one of them. The knicks get hughes repulsive contract and two high draft picks only one of which, Thomas, I actually like. They need to focus on getting rid of Curry. If they have to package Marbury's cap relief (22m at seasons end) and Lee and take back an extra year of salary it needs to be done. Marbury, curry, Lee for T-Glass or T-bag or T-crash whatever his name is + Whatever other expirings before 2010 + a pick.... Thats the type of deal Walsh needs to focus on.
Mike D has talked about trading him for awhile. He doesnt fit his play style. I cant believe they have Harrington at center.
If it dumps Curry and or Jeffries its a no brainer. You trade contracts in the NBA and 2010 is the goal. By the Chris Bosh did not play tonight; wonder if something is going on there. Lee's Agent had nothing to say about any deal. Felt Lee likely to stay put; pretty uneventful interview. NYK Beat writer Frank Isola (Daily News) on ESPN 1050; hes usually pretty accurate and not the type to throw darts: -Rose and James for Hughes a possibility. Hughes contract ends by 2010, Walsh feels he needs a SG. -Baron Davis offered to GS; GS declined. Houston is interested though. - Jefferson could go to Portland or Cleveland - Carter could go to Dallas, Houston, or Cleveland - Shaq could get moved. Possibly Lee or Wilson Chandler + Curry + Malik Rose mentioned.
Actually Lee does fit the style of play and has played C. The only reason Lee is being mentioned as trade bait is because hes a RFA and after 09 they could lose him for nothing. they dont want to give him a long term extension that decreases the cap room in 2010.
Pretty much though those two high draft pick players still have some potential, even that ugly Noah. Hughes is a decent defensive player albeit an expensive one. Knicks could use him and possibly trade him out.
