Dont see how he can be worse then Balkman. Same player defensively and Ewing is probably gonna be better offensively.
Sixers Sign Donyell Marshall Blazers Travis Outlaw Wants To Start Bulls, Gordon Still Far Apart On Deal On the Gordon deal, I didn't read it to be honest with you but I think that Gordon still wants $12 million a year. I may be wrong, but I believe the Bulls are still firm on their offer of $9.9 million a year.
I disagree. With jamal crawford, possibly Stephon marbury, and Danilo Gallinari seeing serious minutes and Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry on the interior, this team needs all the defense they can find or else its going to be a lay up line for the opposition, even more so then usual. Ewing Jr's measureables were as good as anyone's and if he can translate those in to success in the open court and defensively he will be able to carve out an NBA career as a 7th or 8th guy.
Outlaw should start. hes got excellent athletic ability and just needs to learn to play a smarter game. Hes consistent in his shooting both from the floor and the stripe and will at least lend stability to an unstable position.
****. I wanted us to pick up Marshall. A PF with 3 point range and who was a solid rebounder if given minutes?
He's as soft as melted butter on the defensive end. His best weapons are his protuberant eyes at this point. He might knock down the 3 offensively, but we've already got space cadet Radmanovic for that.
Well, Kwame Brown turned into a decent defender when he arrived and I'd like to think we could drill a few things into Marshall, who won't come with hands of stone. Either way, we need a veteran at PF who can rebound and block shots (essentially what Ronny provided ). Gasol's not a good PF man defender and neither is Odom and Vlad. Powell's tough but raw and isn't a good shotblocker.
Questions Surround Ellis' Injury The Contra Costa Times reported earlier this week that Warriors PG Monta Ellis suffered an ankle injury. On Wednesday, the Guard underwent surgery and is expected to recover no earlier than December. While that is settled, the story of the injury has 'fishy' written all over it. Ellis has refused to further comment on the injury but NBA sources have learned that Ellis suffered numerous cuts and abrasions on his leg. Experts in Sports Medicine field have studied Ellis' injury and said that a torn deltoid ligament is "rarely" seen in basketball. If the Warriors learn that Ellis' injury is an non-basketball activity one, they could void his new $66 million dollar deal. But that isn't likely to happen due to Ellis' not missing significant time.
Knicks Randolph To Memphis Pending Decision By Walsh The New York Knicks have been unloading contracts this off-season in preparation for a monstrous free agency in the near future. The Knicks continued to move players on Friday, when the team verbally agreed to send PF Zach Randolph to the Memphis Grizzlies in return for Center Darko Milicic and Guard Marko Jaric. The deal may become official once Donnie Walsh signs off on it. Walsh started the talks but now may be hesitant to move the big man. Randolph has been a disappointment since his arrival in the big apple while Darko Milicic has not given full-effort on the court, much like Randolph. Rookies Chalmers and Arthur Facing Suspension Miami Heat rookie Mario Chalmers and Grizzlies rookie Dorrell Arthur were recently caught with marijuana when the smoke alarm in their hotel room went off at the NBA Rookie Transition Program. Chalmers and Arthur refused to let hotel management in until the police showed up. The two were fined $20,000 and now are facing suspension. According to NBA rules, the two are subject to five game suspensions. The decision will be made by Commissioner David Stern in the end. Stern is the one who kicked Arthur and Chalmers out of the rookie program. Arthur has denied the usage of marijuana. Pacers, Warriors Talking Trade The Indiana Pacers and the Golden State Warriors have had trade talks in the last couple days that include players Jamaal Tinsley and Al Harrington. The Pacers have been shopping Tinsley after making Point Guard acquisitions in the off-season. The Warriors are in search for yet another PG after Monta Ellis underwent surgery this past Wednesday. Ellis is expected to be out until December. A possible scenario is Tinsley and Marquis Daniels going to Golden State in return for Al Harrington. Daniels has disappointed in Indiana but has played under coach Don Nelson in Dallas. Another Big Man Off The Market The Cleveland Cavaliers agreed to a deal with Center Lorenzen Wright.
How many times can the Pacers trade for the same guy??? Harrington has been here twice already! Jeez...
You know you're officially the league's worst FO when even the Knicks are trying to cash out on you. Dumping lazy Randolph and his fat salary for two lazy but cheaper players is a wise move. Considering Randolph is too out of shape for D'Antoni's system and Jaric/Milicic are better for the system, it's a double win for NY. So for Stephen Jackson, Šarūnas Jasikevičius, Acie Law, and Josh Powell, Pacers may land their guy. Again. If Pacers get Harrington and then trade him for Stephen Jackson again, I quit.
Kobe To Specify Surgery Date The Orange County Register is reporting that Kobe Bryant has told the Lakers that he will "specify" his surgery date on his right pinky finger. Bryant had put off the surgery till after the Olympics in Beijing. He has torn ligaments that will take six weeks to recover. Lakers Bynum 100% Los Angeles Lakers big man Andrew Bynum is officially healthy. The Associated Press reports that Bynum's knee is 100% healthy and he is ready for Training Camp. Bynum says that he is stronger but still weighs 285 pounds. The difference is that he's dropped the body fat for muscle. Darko Would Be "Very Excited" To Play In New York Darko Milicic's agent, Marc Bernstein, says that Milicic would be very excited to play under Mike D'Antoni. Bernstein says that D'Antoni has a "great understanding" of European players and he's a great coach. The Knicks have proposed a deal that brings Milicic and Marko Jaric in return for Zach Randolph. The deal is pending approval of Donnie Walsh. Ellis Lied About Injury Warriors Guard Monta Ellis recently suffered an ankle injury that saw him tear his deltoid ligament. He also suffered several scratches. Ellis told the Warriors that he was playing in a pick-up game of basketball. After some research, doctors determined that was impossible because the injury is not basketball related. Now, Ellis says he lied and suffered the injury while he was outdoors. He did not comment further on the situation. The team can fine Ellis or terminate his $66 million dollar deal that he signed this off-season. Neither is likely as of right now. Quick Update: Wanted to update the ones who are interested in Gordon's situation with the Bulls. They are still far apart in talks. The team is offering $9.8 million a year, a deal of $59 million over 6 years. Gordon is still looking for nearly $12 million a year, which would give him a deal of $72 million over 6 years. I think that in the end, Gordon will end up taking a one year deal and become a FA next off-season. It doesn't look like he will get his money this off-season. I believe they have shopped him around but no luck because he doesn't fit in many teams plans.
To play at his level with that pain is amazing. A true testament to his competitive fire. Hopefully he recovers soon. Nice. Really looking forward to it. I certainly hope he got stronger and faster. He's just going to get better and better. This is a very good deal for the Knicks and Milicic. I don't know why Walsh wouldn't approve it yet.
channing frye is looking like a steal for zach randolph lol. never thought i was gonna say that when the trade went down
Ginobili's Future: Guard/Forward Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs went under the knife on Wednesday to "correct a posterior impingement of his left ankle." According to the team's website, Ginobili will be on crutches for three weeks before getting re-evaluated. http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=9915 The San Antonio Spurs announced that earlier today Manu Ginobili underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to correct a posterior impingement of his left ankle. The surgery was performed in Los Angeles by Dr. Richard Ferkel. Ginobili will return to San Antonio on Thursday. He will be in a posterior splint - and on crutches - for three weeks. At the end of the three-week period he will be re-evaluated and begin his rehabilitation process. http://www.hoopsworld.com/HeadlineStories.asp?lc=&c=1&TEAM_ID=19&PLAYER_ID=&hd=20080903#STORY_11667
Thanks for the info brother. To add to it, contract talks between the Spurs and Ginobili are dead right now. I believe the Spurs want to see how he does after the surgery before anything.
Donnie, What the deuce are you waiting for? Get your head out of your butt and accept it before Memphis comes to their senses. Milicic is exactly what this team needs, a young center who can run and block shots, someone who has some offensive upside and knows where the defensive side of half court is. He may not be a long term answer but he fixes one problem, that we've been dead last in the league in blocks the last 2 years, and probably ever since Ewing was dealt. Jaric is waiver fodder....
Not a lot of big news so far. Only one thing about the proposed trade by New York to Memphis. Memphis is asking for a draft pick right now and I don't think Walsh is willing to do that. Walsh, for some reason, is really having trouble with giving up Randolph. Darko said he thinks the percentage of him being in NY is "99%."
I dont think he gives two poops about giving up randolph. I dont think he wants to give up that first rounder Memphis wants with it. Cant blame him. Randolph isnt THAT bad. Eddy Curry is. Not Randolph. I mean for $10 mil of cap relief its not worth it for the knicks to give up a decent player who has elite talent. If they were say keeping jaric and adding in conley then id give up the 1st they want. As it is now, with the 1st rounder in the deal, I hope it doesnt happen unless its a 2015 1st or something like that.
No matter who GM's the knicks theyre still idiots. Crittendon is better then warrick and lowry, ya dummy. Hes a strong aggressive and fast defender with size. Think a taller charlie ward. The Grizzlies have reportedly added Javaris Crittenton to the deal for Zach Randolph, provided they get back a first-round draft pick from the Knicks. The Knicks are reportedly "lukewarm" on Crittenton, and have countered with an offer to send a protected first-round pick for Hakim Warrick or Kyle Lowry. Zach Randolph and Darko Milicic are both anticipating the trade to go through, but there is obviously plenty of negotiating to be done. There is no deadline for the deal, and we'll keep posting any and all developments. Source: Hoopsworld Related: Hakim Warrick, Kyle Lowry
No that would be if they gave up Conley and Rudy in the deal. Warrick is a tweener who is a mediocre nba player
Lakers sign C.J. Giles Lakers sign C.J. Giles - NBA - Yahoo! Sports DraftExpress NBA Draft Prospect Profile: C.J. Giles, Stats, Comparisons, and Outlook Well, at least they finally signed someone who's a big and not another undersized SG but wait... Lakers sign guard Heath to training camp roster Lakers sign guard Heath to training camp roster - LA Daily News I guess they're both camp fodder but I'm hoping Giles can stick and be productive as well as keep his head clear. If P-Jax can handle Rodman, Glen Rice, Kwame Brown, and Isaiah Rider, shouldn't be a problem with Giles.
Good finds. Also, the Cavs re-signed Delonte West. Its a multi-year deal. No word on contract details.
Nope. He was talking contract with a Russian team I believe and was going to get paid good money. However, the Cavaliers finally gave in and paid him what he wanted. I think he would be getting the same amount overseas and the US.
Eh, I dont really think that helps either team. I actually kinda like what Miami has now with wade, Beasley and Marion as their core. Find a decent PG and C and youre on your way. If theyre going to deal Marion they need a PG and or C back. Or just draft picks and expirings to leave them flexibility to do what they want.
The talks in Miami are that Chris Quinn could be the starting PG for them this year, with Banks backing him up unless they can move him.
Which is fine but if youre going to move a very good player like marion you better get the appropriate upgrade at PG or C or some combo there of.
Gilbert Arenas had a small clean-up done in his knee this morning and will miss another month. He's hoping to be back by December. When asked about him missing training camp, he said he already planned on skipping it lol. Also, Knicks top pick Danilo Gallinari could miss training camp because of his back. Injuries were one of his biggest negatives coming out and it hasn't started off so hot for him in the U.S and A. He had several injuries in Italy. Another thing is that Zach Randolph showed up for voluntary workouts despite his name being tossed around in trade talks. The Heat are having an open competition for the starting PG spot. Its between Banks, Chris Quinn and Chalmers. Quinn could be the starter here with Chalmers getting time as well. Shaun Livingston worked out for the Timberwolves and Blazers. Darius Miles could very well be 100% healthy by late December. The Lakers increased their ticket prices by 5.5%. Their premium ticket prices that is. Greg Oden has lost about fifteen pounds, going from 300 to 285. He's still working on conditioning and his shape. The Hornets are hoping to get more out of second-year player Julian Wright. Wright came on mid-season in his rookie year. He's going to get more playing time. Also want to point out that don't be surprised to see him at PG when Paul is resting. Timberwolves Center Jason Collins will be out approximately eight weeks after he got surgery on his triceps tendon. He got injured playing golf. The Nuggets are hoping to have a more aggressive defense according to coach George Karl. He thinks that this will take advantage of the teams speed. Raef LaFrentz is out for the season after he was told he needed surgery on his right shoulder. There is speculation that Vince Carter could ask/demand a trade from the Nets.
