the heat have more to prove than orlando bud. add maggette and we are a lot better than the 52 wins we had this year. dwight howard will only get better. talk to me when dwayne "glass" wade plays a full season
What is it with you and personal attacks? Orlando has more to prove than Miami. You gave Rashard Lewis a ridiculous contract and the high point of Dwight Howard's career is a dunk contest. You need Howard to be better NOW, not later. And you don't have Maggette.
what does rashard's contract have to do w/anything? you win with big men and dwight is the best center in the east, if not the league. we just drafted a very solid player in lee. potentially add a maggette and we own the SE division.
Right, but the problem with Orlando is that you won't have any cap space to improve the roster for quite some time due to that absurd contract given to Rashard Lewis. Teams like Miami & Atlanta will also be in playoff contention this year, except both teams are set up better to improve. Orlando will have to run with what they've got for the next few years while plugging in holes with hopeful mid-late first round steals and the mid-level exception. Like I said last year, signing Rashard Lewis was a lateral move. You don't make a move like that unless it's going to push you over the top, and I don't even view Orlando as a legitimate contender to win a title. Washington is the best team in the division when healthy. Problem is, they're never healthy.
Losing Smith = right back to drafting forwards in the lottery. In other words, as a division mate, I hope they lose Josh Smith.
That would suck, but it'd be funny if Davis and Brand both took less money to play for the Clippers over G-state.
Lol its looking like that to be honest. Brand is good friends with Davis and the only reason Davis signed with the Clippers was because Brand said he would be back. Also, if you see my post after that one of Brand being offered by the Warriors, it says that the Clippers and Brand have agreed on a multi-year deal, that was according to Marc Stein.
i agree, the division is improving. i never mentioned title contender in my posts. i think the trailblazers are gonna be the next dynasty anyway
He isn't worth the money you're paying him, he isn't helping your team win a title, and that money he's sucking up could have gone towards one of the big names available this year, all of whom are better than Lewis. You don't have Maggette. Dwight Howard is not the best anything. Maybe in time, but that's the problem.
my whole argument was based on getting maggette, a hypothetical situation. and yes, dwight is the best center in the league. we may have overpaid lewis, but we pretty much got hedo for dirt cheap. and IF you can nab maggette, a team consisiting of he, lewis, turkoglu, and howard aint bad.
I guess you forgot when I told you that your lead wouldn't hold up in 06-07' and that the Heat would win the division going away when they were 8 games back. and we did it without Wade. I will break it down for you. Your best player is a center with a very limited offensive game. hedu had a career year. You spent all your free cap space on a guy that doesn't make you any better, and your perimeter play was as good as it has been and yet what did you get for it? A team such as yours that is limited on the perimeter and who's center piece has a very limited offensive game will NOT win a title. So when the Heat, Hawks, and Wizards are improving, your team will remain stagnant. As is, with no hope. You can THANK the Rashard Lewis deal for that one. had you waited ONE year, you could have added a baron Davis, and Corey Maggette, with still some room to spare and become championship contenders THIS YEAR. But you didn't. like I said..enjoy the year.
If Dwight could learn how to do something other than turn around and dunk, he would be a monster. I'm not going to argue about him being the best Center in the league because he probably is. I just think he needs to improve his arsenal because he only has one move which is that spin and dunk. I think you guys screwed yourself over when you paid that money for Lewis. Arenas just got similar money to that and I wouldn't pay Arenas that, let alone Lewis. The only problem I see with a team consisting of Lewis, Turk, Howard and Magette is that outside of Howard, who rebounds? To win , you have to own the boards and if Howard is being played tough (rare but possible), they're chances of winning the game aren't too high. Just to clear it up, I am not a fan of Magic or the Heat. I don't have a favorite team.
Haha, maybe. Wanted to add that the Sonics have been granted their release from their arena lease. I believe this means they will be headed to OK City?
baron davis wants to be in LA, cap room in orlando wouldnt mean **** to him. love how you think a relatively young team that has only been together as a whole for one season cant improve. enjoy watching dwayne wade further break down with his injury dilemna. hes made of glass
Your comment about Wade says more about your "NBA" knowledge. He has had one major injury. He has missed significant time ONCE (mandatory) in his career. ONCE. Enjoy your one year. if Howard gets hurt...enjoy the lottery.
Yeah, I know, bro. Sorry for the confusion - I wasn't trying to put words into your mouth. Just added that as one of the reasons why I wouldn't have made the Lewis signing at that price.
Dwight Howard's offense isnt dynamic, but he still puts up plenty of points. And his offensive game has consistantly improved every year. There is no reason to think he wont continue to improve his offensive moves. The Magic dont need more on the perimiter. They need a PF. They need someone else down there with Dwight, instead of playing Lewis at the 4... Dont underestimate the Magic. The Heat and the Magic will be going back and forth with each other for this division for a long time...
His offensive game is very limited. He gets the ball denied to him at angles with a body guy on his hip and he is shut down. As easy as that. He gets the most unimportant and garbage points in the league. he is a great player....but a great complimentary player to a perimeter oriented team.
His touch around the basket improved a lot this past season from the year before... and his offense has improve every single year he has been in the league. Why do you not believe he will continue to improve? What makes you feel he has peaked? Hes what, 22? And he gets plenty of meaningful points. I wouldnt consider offensive rebounds and put backs garbage points. Fact is, if he develops the kind of offensive game you are refering to... he will be one of the best Centers ever. He is going to go down as one of the best rebounders ever, and also as a dominant defender. If he gets that kinda offensive game... he'll be unstoppable...
