I would, hes considerably bigger then Danzig. Also, his cardio and endurance is prob the best Ive seen in that division. I really dont think hes that wild. Hes aggressive when he needs to be, but he throws precise shots and combos, not blind haymakers.

I'll agree to disagree, definitely not as high on him as you seem to be. I've never been overly impressed with him. Held is own against Huerta but then just seem to run out of gas. I wouldn't put him in the top 5 UFC lightweights, Top 10 maybe. How is he "considerably bigger"? He's a inch shorter and his everyday weight is less. Danzig is coming down in weight class.

both of these guys are great, and well rounded fighters. i'd expect danzig's conditioning to be better than guida. i'd put danzig as the favorite, but any outcome past round 1 wouldnt surprise me. and i dont think guida is the bigger man. dont forget that Danzig just won tuf at 170! he's coming down to fight in the 154 class. i like him to be the guy who knocks that smile off huerta's pretty little face.

Jaoqin Phoenix brought is heart tonight.

but why did elite xc get a mike goldberg clone? they both suck! Bas and Quadros was the best tandem ever. someone needs to put those two back together again.

I dont normally watch this stuff, but i found myself checking into it on CBS while I was watchin the hockey game, because I really wanted to see Gina Carano fight. I love seeing her on American Gladiators, I think she's incredibly hot!! Holy crap she can kick some you know what though... WOW she gave that girl a bigtime beating!!

Thompson has no ground control or cardio however he owned him on the the ground for the most part. The referee was the WORST in the the history of MMA other than some questionable Herb Dean calls. IMO the Kimbo hype should be over. he has nothing against a top 50 heavyweight.

Absolutely, now the whole world knows Kimbo is nothing but hype. That fight was pathetic.

As nice as it is to see MMA in the spotlight on network tv I'm not sure that was the best show for it's debut. The best fight was stopped early(Lawler/Smith), next best fight was the women, their "Big Gun" turned out to be a dud, and the whole presentation was way too cheesy. Not to mention how do you open a show with a fight featuring a guy that just beat one of the main event fighters in his last fight???

yeah, i think they told the ref to help kimbo find a way to win if at all possible. that fight gets stopped in the UFC in round 2. he went 45 seconds unable to defend himself, granted, he was eating weak elbows and punches. but he was defenseless for almost a full minute.

its a cheesy production with Fat Vinny Boom-Botts "payin da fellas". theres a real lack of legitimacy. :pity:

Let me just say overall I think that this was definitely a "shaw' production and was a bad representation of MMA overall. The young call was questionable but accpeptable. The smith call was bad and this call(thompson) seemed as almost thst a fix was in. Consdering shaws reputation i don't know... I won't say it was a fix and I like Kimbo making his, but come on. The first card on national tv and it's this. Like motion said earlier it seemed like a WWF show. Let's hope this doesn't change a sport that is about pure fighting into a spectacle.

And then that "main event guy" owns the cash cow for 8 minutes of a 10 minute fight but gets called out because his cauliflower ear bursts open...oh my he might die...sorry for the sarcasm but this is just sad that the "general pop" gets introduced to MMA with this crap. just frustrated here

    :hi5: Couldn't agree more bro.

Another thing I found hilarious is how much the "MMA Expert" from Canada on the broadcast team referenced UFC and/or their fighters. Dana White had to be sitting back laughing at all the free publicity they were getting.

I agree, silly. Still though how does a referee call it on that. He did get hit with 3 punches but just like 4 minutes into the fight..those punches didn't have much behind them, even considering Thompsons chin. That ear shoulda been drained though.

Well funny how neither Mauro or Frank discussed the googapolata by Carano and then she kinda guessed it. Seemed like they were "dumbing down" the discussion. Which is ok, but she guessed at what it was. Mauro is better than that, Gus johnson is mediocre at football and is worse at mma.

    Network TV man. Network TV.

They're like the government. They take a good idea and **** it up.

Everything about it was wrong. And Kimbo got exposed. Which means we probably won't have to watch another one.
