I don't see how anyone thought that fight was remotely close.

Silva could of won that fight on leg kicks alone.

What also shows how sad Leites is, is the fact that he did take down Silva in the 2nd. Silva completely neutralized him and escaped. After that, Leites was mentally defeated. After that, he did nothing.

You can't fight for 5 mins in a championship fight and expect the champion to cater to you. It's retarded.

Anyone else think Joe Rogan should have Dana White's job?

Rogan has a much better view of MMA, IMO.

Nah, you just see him that way because thats how he wants you to see him. Dana is a business man, 100%. He talks from a fans perspective because the fans are who pay the bills. He's not a dumb man by any means, he listens to what the fans want and he gets it done, now I heard he's terrible to actually work for though.

exactly, he saw a boring fight, and holds the guy they are promoting as the best fighter in the world to a higher standard.

doesn't make it fair, or right necessarily, but it is understandable. because he sees buy rates going down in the future because of this, which is bad for everyone.

I didn't see Dana's comments. But one thing I like and appreciate about the UFC (which is mainly White here) is that they'll call a bad fight a bad fight. No sugarcoating it. Shows that they care about their fans.

Yea, but disrespecting your champion and one of your biggest bread-winners ever, because the guy you put in there with him was a bitch, is not right. Silva tried to make that fight entertaining and you know he genuinely cares about what the fans think. Dana disrespecting him like that was bull**** IMO.

If Silva wasn't such a class act, I would think he would have some words for Dana. I think anyone else would.

The more I write, the more i realize i come of wrong.
I have nothing against Silva, and I dont think the fight was close, and think Leites is a moron.

I guess I was expecting him to dominate from begining to the end. And the moment Leites "fell" and then he "fell" again, i thought Silva would jump on top. This, summs up what i wanted to say here:

Unlike Miguel Torres or Fedor Emelianenko, champions who seem to relish fighting to opponents' strengths, Silva doesn't see a point in messing around. The champion wants to stand and counter, of course, and unless he's made to do something different, he won't. And why should he? If there's a fighter out there at 185 who wants the belt, Silva and his camp have a simple retort: "come and take it."

And I see where he is coming from. He doenst fight to end the fight as soon as possible, he fights to protect his belt. Different people, different styles. I understand that he doesnt want to jump in Leiteses guard and try to beat him at his own game, rather than just grind out a discision.

That quote sort of speaks to my impression of Silva.

While the crowd and everyone at the bar was getting pissed at the lack of early action, I actually was fine with it. Every single fight, Silva never initiates the action. He just waits and waits for his opponent to come to him, press the action and/or make a mistake. And then he counters. It looked like Leites was actually going to be patient/disciplined and not play Sliva's game. So the first round or two, I actually liked it because I thought it meant Silva was actually going to be the aggressor and go after him.

But you can't do that the entire fight. And that's what he did. Silva was never in trouble. He was the only one attempting to muster any sort of offense. And the flopping crap by Leites was just that.

Still, I expected someone as well rounded and that high on the pound-for-pound list to maybe engage Leites ONCE down there and perhaps even finish the fight.

That's two straight snoozers for Silva against clearly overmatched opponents.

i think that is the problem in a nutshell. they have already run out of legit conteders for him at that weight class. so they are hurrying along guys like Leites, who are nowhere near ready.

Really it's Bisping that's left and and that's about it.

I wish he'd just go up to 205 and compete there. If he wants guys that will strike with him, he'd have enough to last the rest of his career.

Then again, 205 is loaded without him. And the UFC is probably better off, at least in their mind, with a dynamic champion in every division. I think they'll at least wait to see if Bisping beats Henderson and try to make that match. But who does Silva fight before then at 185?

Actually, I thought the Cote fight was much more entertaining than what I was expecting. Cote also got hurt just when things were getting even more interesting. Can't fault anyone for that one.

It all depends on what happens with GSP and Alves, IMO. I think they'll wait to see if GSP wins and if he does, then set up the mega-fight with Silva.

Personally, I think/hope that Alves beats the bejesus out of ol George.

Choi will kill him, if Canseco will actually do anything more than grab. Choi is actually a fighter, though obviously they picked him for his size. He's really a kickboxer, but his last two MMA fights were against Fedor and Cro Cop.

Sad how guys like Canseco, with all those physical gifts and millions of dollars, find themselves broke with no marketable skills to earn a living. Pathetic. He's just lucky he's able to do this BS crap and get money.
