I thought Serra won the fight. He won rounds 1 and 3 IMO. I think Matt Hughes knew it too. That's the problem with boxing judges scoring MMA fights. Machida is a monster. Rampage's only hope is to land a big shot he doesn't see coming. He's the most powerful guy in the division, but his hands and overall game isn't nearly as fast as Evans. Rampage has a great chin. But you get caught with enough of the right stuff and you go. Machida is just so dynamic. He could rule the division for awhile IMO.
He has an OKAY chin, and thats coming from a rampage fan. Exactly, I think he will stay on top until somebody 1) Just catches him with one (which is very doubtful, with his style) or 2) figures him out. There is a counter-strike to everything. Somebody will just have to figure it out.
the Hughes/Serra fight told me one thing; it is time for both these guys to get out. Matt Hughes looked in really good shape as usual, but that did not play out in the fight. he was gassing, and so was Serra by the second round. Serra won round one (he benefited from a inadvertant headbutt that rocked Hughes), no question, and Hughes won the second round, no question. round three, was a snooze fest really. both guys were gassed. Hughes took him down about a minute in, but couldn't pass guard, and after controlling him in half guard for most of the round and landing some sporadic G&P, there was a scramble, and Serra ended up on top, and landed some good shots in the last 25 seconds. i was surprised by the unanimous decision; i really thought it would be a split decision going one way or the other, and it would be hard to argue against either way. guess the judges scored the third round being controlled mostly by Hughes in his favor, over the reverse at the end by Serra. as for Machida/Evans... Machida as a striker was clearly better than Rashad. he got off more punches and kicks by far, and was far more confident. i dont recall Evans even attempting a takedown. i realize Machida has good BJJ skills to go with his Karate/striking skills, but still, how do you completely fight your opponents fight like that, standing up, as the champion? Evans has got one punch KO power, but that's not going to be what carries him in MMA. same thing could be said about Hughes, he barely attempted to take down Serra, and let Serra dictate the pace and initiate. plus Hughes fought lefty again, which makes me think his knee is still an issue and he is protecting it.
i thought Hughes won just because he controlled the fight. even though it was a boring win. Machida is a monster, i like his game a lot. i like Evans game a lot to though. i didnt know who was going to win, but one of my boys refused to admit Machida was nice, so i decided to bet him a lower amount of money Machida would win. appreciate the money Machida! also i think Rampage would be a different fight then this one. he would be a more aggressive and physical i think, then Evans. im not to sure who i think would win that one, if i had to pick one today it would be Machida..
Nice. Too bad it doesnt show very beginning of the end, where machida lands a solid one that started all of this
I want to learn eskrima http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eskrima i have tried to watch UFC before but every fight i see someone gets their *** handed to them in the first round. it never, ever has lasted longer than that for me. when's the good stuff on?
Cracked dot com MMA's Top 8 "Oh Shiiiiiii" Moments http://www.cracked.com/blog/the-top-eight-oh-****-moments-in-mma/ Very funny and well written. Contains explicit language. But funny as hell
ill give evans props....he took like 9 fuggin shots to the chin and stayed up.....he should have shot in and attempted a take down, try to wake back up.....he kept standing there taking punishment....
Rampage and Rashad TUF 10 Coaches Season 10 will be all Heavyweights, starts Sept. 16th. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=8853&zoneid=13 Also, Frank Trigg has re-signed with the UFC http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=8852&zoneid=13
Dana White made a very similar comment. He is a very unique matchup for just about everyone. Would love to see him and Anderson Silva fight.
The secret to Lyoto Machida's success? apparantly...he drinks his own urine every morning. http://mmablips.dailyradar.com/story/lyoto_machida_prior_to_ufc_98_espn_radio/
yea i frequent the sherdog forums.....and those guys are having a ball with that.....all these new machida nut huggers are now labeled "piss drinkers" its fuggin hilarious....
Not the first time I have heard this. Alot of the MMA nuts drink there own urine, Apparently all the nutrients and vitamins you pee out you return back into you r body. Me I'd rather just take a multi vitamin.
ever watch dodgeball???? patches : "is it necessary for me to drink my own urine?!" peter: "probably not" patches: "No.....but its sterile and i like the taste"
Supposedly your first one of the day, which is what it sounds like he drinks, is packed full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc.... I've heard of people using it to treat skin problems as well. Kinda weird IMO.
Shogun vs. Machida in the works http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=8862&zoneid=13
Rampage sharpening his skills http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=8861&zoneid=13
Rampage to put his title bout on hold, to face Evans. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/5/28/891402/report-quinton-rampage-jackson-and Website says that Machida will fight Rampage in September, but he wont, or at least not according to Dana. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/mma/post/2009/05/67378831/1 So..that leaves Ramapge vs Evans for september, and if Machida beats whoever he has to beat (from reports, shogun...) and Rampage blasts Evans, then they should meet in the end of the year, beginning of '10.
Actually, Rampage vs. Evans won't be til December, after the TUF is over. According to this anyway..... http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=8853&zoneid=9
Your right. I was thinking of Machida, and put September. Either way, those two coaching can mean only one thing...TRASH TALKING! I don't think it will be Tito - Shamrock, but im expecting some serious trash talking
Definitely, I think it will be worse that Tito/Shamrock or Rampage/Forrest. Definitely gonna be a good season to watch. Speaking of, the TUF episode next week sounds like its gonna be a great one as well.
Its official Shogun vs Machida http://mmamania.com/2009/05/29/ufc-104-mauricio-shogun-rua-signs-to-fight-lyoto-machida-in-october/
not that i had any illusions to the contrary to begin with, but this makes it official; i am not tough enough to be an ultimate fighter. let's extrapolate this logic for a moment... he may as well eat his own poop too. i am sure it has some nutrients in it as well, and it has the added benefit of being more filling, which would help fighters who are trying to cut weight.
Just watched the Tito-Rashad fight (never actually watched the whole thing) Tito. Even with the subtracted point. He won. At times like these that I wonder. At the time, Tito was on knife with UFC, everybody knew that, while Rashad was their poster boy. Up and coming, solid contender for the belt which he got, by fighting Forrest, who by style, was the best possible fight for Rashad. The close fight like this, the fight that Tito still won. I wonder...Could it be that it was a draw because of what i just wrote?
I think a lot of times it's the result of boxing judges scoring MMA fights. I don't think they always know what they're looking at. As for it being a fix, I don't know. I remember last season on TUF Dana complaining about a terrible decision he just witnessed.
No, not fixed. But...i guess the word im looking for is "favorite" They "Favorited" if thats even a word, UFC poster boy with this I think. It would of been horrible if UFC TUF winner, up and coming, undefeated and all lost to Tito, who wasn't even 100% because of his back, and "washed up and old" as claimed by Dana. That would lead to fans questioning, why Dana is getting rid of the guy, who without even being completely healthy, beats this great great kid. After reviewing some of his material, most of his fights were great match ups for him stylistically. Win over Chuck impressed alot of people, but seing how he last 4 out of his last 5 takes away from the win too. I dont want to come of wrong, or make an impression that I think fights are fixed or anything like that. I do think that UFC does favor Dana's guys with match making, and close fight scoring.
Gina who? The undisputed, undefeated(not really) and without any doubt best looking (from this point of view at least) p4p (or should i say cheek for cheek?) MMA fighter on Earth, one and only...Miesha Tate gentelmen.
Check out UFC wired. It replays old fights, usually the better ones. If you are a new fan you won't know the outcomes of the fights so they should be even better. Here is a list of the stations it is on. I know it is also a on direct TV. http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=misc.wired
The results are in: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ac5geo5eIc4&feature=related"]YouTube - Hong Man Choi vs Jose Canseco Fight Video[/ame] Honestly he did better than I thought he would.
Same here. Gina just sexy as hell personality wise too. What is she doing now? Where is she going to fight?
