Sapp vs Lashley http://mmajunkie.com/news/14646/bobby-lashley-signs-to-fight-bob-sapp-on-june-27-in-mississippi.mma
Sapp's a little past his prime but he's still an animal. What I like about Lashley is he brings the same wild card athleticism to the heavywieght division that Lesnar does. Guys that big aren't normally as quick as these two are and they can cause huge problems for slower fighters.
i really hope that Matt Hughes has enough left to destroy Matt Serra this weekend on the undercard for Rashad Evans and Machida. ima have to find me a bar to watch that fight at.
If Lashley has any sort of future in the sport, he'll take care of Sapp. Get him on the ground and finish.
prior to Hughes's last fight with GSP, and then his knee injury, i would have been totally confident that he would destroy Serra, too. and i still think he will, but hey, who ever thought Serra would've KO's GSP? i guess i am also factoring in the possibility of "Chuck Liddell Syndrome" on Hughes part.
last couple times i have tried to watch UFC or a WWE PPV on that site, i have gotten shut out. or the feed gets killed before the main events.
Gotta love living in a city. I pay $5 cover to watch every boxing or UFC event at my favorite restaurant.
Because he was a pompous idiot when he was a coach. I actually cheered for him when he was a comp. on the show. But when he was a coach he was arrogant and disrespectful and it rubbed ALOT of people the wrong way. Kind of like Bisping is doing this yr. I lost alot of respect for him when he missed one of his fighters fight because "he overslept".
I think Serra will win this fight. Hughes is truly a one-trick-pony, his only strength is wrestling and ground and pound. Serra has decent stand-up, with a lot of power in his hands, and he has outstanding jiu-jitsu. Hughes isn't good enough at jiu-jitsu to submit a guy like Serra, and is incapable of knocking out ANYBODY. His only hope to win the fight is to take Serra down and lay n' pray his way to a W. Serra has more options to win the fight. He could KO Hughes, or he could submit him. I think that Hughes' is going to get KTFO'd. He is no longer the physical specimen he was when he ruled the roost at 170. He's lost a step, and he's lost some of that famous strength. The fact is that he doesn't have the technique to compensate for his declining physicality. Hughes is too cocky to think that he has to change his game, and that has been his undoing. Serra is going to be ready for the takedown attempts, and will pick him apart on the feet. Serra by KO rd. 2.
you reasoning about Matt Hughes losing makes some sense to me, but on the other hand Serra had one moment in MMA; he caught GSP, rocked him, and finished that fight. but before and since that fight, he has shown me nothing to make me think he can do it again.
i could careless about attitudes personally, i dont like either one, their fighters. i dont care to like them on a personal level, but atleast Hughes was once good, Serra litterly had one lucky fight and the only reason hes still in the UFC is because of his attitude if he was the quite respectful type no one would give a **** about the guy
well he had a habit of talking ish to serra that he was a one hit wonder. I'd say thats pretty disrespectful. I really don't like either one, but I wouldn't base who I want to win on which one is the lesser ***
Serra is underrated, IMO. The guy has been in really close fights with some really good fighters. He took BJ Penn and Karo Parisyan to decision, he beat Yves Edwards, and not to beat a dead horse, he KO'd St. Pierre. Is Serra a KO artist? No. But I believe that Matt Hughes' stand up is still so piss-poor that Matt Serra will dominate on the feet. Hughes has shown is his last 4 fights (his win over Lytle was NOT impressive) that he isn't the dominating fighter he used to be. Like Chuck Liddell, Hughes is a guy who refuses to change, hasn't significantly evolved his skills, and sticks with the same gameplan for every fight.
Never heard about that bc I gave up on that show. That makes more sense then. Missing a fighters fight bc of oversleeping is horrible.
i think the "I overslept" excuse is just that; a fan friendly excuse. to me, Bisping is the most babied fighter in the UFC. it seems as though all his fights are in the UK, and he has avoided fighting anybody really impressive thus far. i understand why they are doing it though. they want to tap into the UK market, and then into the rest of europe, and feel the need to have a "superstar" from England to market to the Brits. curious to see what caused him to throw water in the face of the American fighter in next weeks episode of TUF. to me, as a coach, Bisping has gotta be above that stuff.
Yeah I never liked bisping. I never thought he was that good of a fighter to begin with. I agree with everything you said here.
Dammn. The stream worked just long enough for me to see Evans get peeled off the ground. Did Hughes win definitively over Serra?
i was link hoping at the time, saw the end of first, and the descision. I know Serra rocked him in the beginning, but then Highes did what he does, and just ragged him down and GnPnd him. Serra didint make excuses tho, so win is a win. I thought winner will get their *** handed to them by Rampage regardless...but I dont know now. Machida looks dangerous, and Rampage looked meh, vs very mediocre Jardine.
serra "rocked" hughes in the first because of a head butt......hughes didnt do much....but he won.....i dunno about it being unanimous.....but he won none-the-less.... machida is F'ing scary......
Im not 100% sold on Machida. Id say 85%. He is good, and very unorthodox. He is definitely a top guy. but i always suspected Rashad of being overrated. IF he does Rampage the way he did Evans, than holy s#$t, he is scary. Regardless, great win. Both fighters were classy, thats good to see. Serra and Hughes kissed and made up, bout time with that, too.
I think Rampage has more power than Evans. His chin still hasn't been that great lately and I could also see Machida leg kicking him to death. Rampage is going to have to train his *** off to win that one.
