Palm Beach Post reporting Florida. I guess Brisslett does not like to play, or play qb.

His Mom is just letting loose in the media right now. She is beyond upset with her son right now. Says she will continue to try and change his mind since they aren't faxing the LOI till Monday. He notified his Mom of his decision by texting her two hours before his announcement. Her quotes are all over twitter by some reporters that were there.

Well, Mike B pointed out that the LOI is not due until Monday and his mom and cousin T Benjamen are going to work on him this weekend.

As for what I think of him, Eh, how many of these "5 star rated prospect per whomever" do not do a darn thing in College?

What an idiot. But this doesn't come as a surprise considering he has a HC who went and played at Florida, and turns all of his kids to Florida, rather than steer them in the direction that's best for them. He's going to regret this decision for the rest of his life as he never sees the field.

His mom has to sign the LOI. This should be interesting if she does it.

What's hilarious about it? It's true. He's wasting his talent at Florida, and you know it. He's not ever beating out Driskell. He's not ever getting much playing time at TE over Leonard, Christian, and McFarland. He had a very real shot at starting at both Miami and Wisconsin. The kid allowed his coach Jack Daniels, a UF alum, and all his former teammates in Gainesville to influence his decision, a decision which obviously wasn't in his best interest since he's never seeing the field at Florida. Either way, I'm over it. He'll be transferring in 2 years tops realizing how stupid a decision it was going to Florida. By that time Golden will have us better QB's.

I don't really want his mother to persuade him to come here. I still like him as a QB, but if he'd rather be somewhere else (a Canes rival) then let him go. He made his decision, support your son.

    Kyle Wright, Frank Costa etc.

Give Golden credit though, he has succeeded in restoring some hype to the program as most thought this yr would be relatively quiet as Shannon had done a fairly good job the yr before and there were not many Sr's and Jr's leaving.

Miami just offered 2012 QB Gray Crow. Cool name. They also offered QB Zeke Pike from Kentucky. He has offers from just about every big school out there so that's a longshot imo.

LMAO I can vouch for that. Got a few players in one of my classes and already 2 times that the coach came into the class and forced them to sit in different areas of the room and closer to the front. First time I saw this happen in my two years here.

I think he could beat out Driskel. Brissett is much more of a pro style QB. Brissett is also a favorite of Charlie Weis who wanted him immediatly. I think he def has a shot to play for the Gators and beat out Driskel. Brissett is also going to play basketball which I also think was a huge part of his decision.

I think how some of you fans call him names and bad mouth him is pretty sad. When your going to a place that will be with you forever you have to make the right choice for you and no one else. For some people its Florida and for some its Miami but its all on where your heart is.

Did Forcier decide to come to Miami?

And tbh, we will miss out on the best Qb prospects until we begin to place some Qb's into the NFL imho, with Newton and Tebow both being #1 picks it makes it tough to try to recruit young guys without that same sort of track record in Miami.

Considering our possible QB situation going into 2012 (Morris being the only QB on the depth chart along with a possible true freshman), I wouldn't mind Forcier. But I'd rather have Savage.

He's not beating out Driskell, that I can assure you. Nothing against Brissett, but Driskell is very good. The guy just threw his career out the window because he's easily influenced by friends and a coach who went to Florida, when he should have been influenced by the best career opportunity. His loss, not ours. Maybe basketball will work out for him. I'm sure Golden will get us a very good QB in the 2012 class, probably multiple QB's since we only have 3 on the roster, one of them being a complete scrub in Whipple. Harris isn't any good either. I am a fan of Stephen Morris though. Looked pretty good considering he was a true freshman. Similar numbers to Matt Barkley's freshman season.

Hey not saying he will beat him out, but no one knows for sure. HS kids some flame out, some don't...

Ain't that the truth, the "5 star rated Mr Quarterback/Running Back" flame out so quickly I'm left wondering why exactly they were so hyped in the first place, I think it has something to do with the NCAA's Big Time programs mimicing the hype that surrounds the NFL draft.

Savage fits Miami a lot better IMO. Forcier needs to go to a spread system where he can shine.

I have watched a ton on Driskell and do I think he will be a bad QB? No but I do think he may struggle with a pro style offense when he first gets to Florida. Brissett was hand picked by the person running the Gators offense. I think that he must have saw a lot of potential in him. Just because he is going to a place where his coach and other players are going does not mean they influenced him to go here. I think he felt really comfortable with Charlie Weis and wanted to play for him and the Gators. Well Jacory Harris hada better freshman year than Morris so let wait and see.

Yeah a lot of sites have scouts that do nothing but look at tape of games and go to camps to evaulate them.

Star ratings aren’t even a talent measure. They’re a relative indicator of how many and which schools are trying to recruit a certain kid. 5 star recruits are 5 stars not because they’re super talented, but because a lot of big-name programs are trying to get them to sign.

Ed Reed was a 2 star recruit.

Recruits do not get those stars based on what schools are going after them.

Recruits get stars based on size, speed, instinct, skills at position, and potential to get better. No one is automatic cause you don't know how certain guys will adjust or grow. However stars indicate that a player is much more likely to be a star.

Recruiting sites Have grown leaps and bounds in the last 5 or 6 yrs. More scouts more money and more coverage. There will always be kids that sometimes don't get a rating they deserve or kids that slip thru the cracks. That's just a numbers game. I know Ed Reed was a 2 star but I don't know why.

Not much of a mystery. Can anyone remember the last time a competent coach was employed there? Recruiting the talent is only half the battle, the coaching staff has to develop said talent.

Randy Shannon was your coach. You know this.

Re: Driskel vs. Brissett, it's pretty clear that Brissett is far more polished than Driskel in the passing game and is therefore, a more natural fit for Weis' offense. Watch these videos of each and tell me differently:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU0o78yzR_U

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr40G7G6cfQ

Brissett is much more at ease in the pocket, and willing to go through his progressions. Driskel looks like Mike Vick pre-prison. Maybe two reads before he takes off. And Rivals.com has Driskel labeled as a pro-style QB and Brissett labeled as a dual-threat. That's racial profiling that KB would be proud of.

Doesn't matter as they are certainly used to make a incoming recruit class seem like something it is not.

The stars are used as a trophy for boosters so the program can talk them up at alumni dinners, out on the field they do not mean a damn thing.

You’re missing my point. A player’s star rating tends to change depending on which school he goes to. Notre Dame is not continually recruiting some of the best high school players in the country, no matter what the star ratings say. Their academic standards alone betray this fact. But there are the ratings services, giving out 5 stars like candy.

Maybe once upon a time, the star ratings had to do with an independent measure of a player’s talent and abilities. Not anymore. Now it’s all about who’s recruiting a guy and where he winds up going.
