Simple actually. Horrible gameplan, horrible adjustments. Hands down the worst coached game of the season. You can sugarcoat it all you want, but Shannon is a horrible coach. He can recruit, he's a good disciplinarian. But as far as being a gameday coach goes? This is nothing new. I think you're the only guy I've seen this year trying to defend this joke.
You're assuming that pressure only affects you when it comes. If you're getting hit every time you drop back, it impacts you even when the pressure isnt there the next play. Because you expect it.
Likewise Alen! I'm excited for the future of the Canes but they better shore up some more Hogs on both sides of the ball this recruiting class. Now if Whipple leaves, which there is a good chance, then I'll be worried a little but the future is finally bright.

I've also heard we've hired a high school 6A championship winning coach to the staff but no word on his position. I imagine it has something to do with recruiting.
Dude get things straight ok? I never said he was the next best thing since sliced bread. I blame the players because they're just not executing. We've seen three wide open big plays missed by poor execution. Plays that, one would have scored on, and the other two would have got them deep into their territory. You go ahead and blame Shannon but I don't see him out on the field missing blocks, easy blocks at that, making low, and high uncatchable throws, and missing tackles left and right. There is no game plan in the world that could overcome the things listed either...
I've herd the exact same things. I'm pretty sure Whipple is a goner because for one, Miami can't afford him, and two, I think he wants to be with Cowher again.
And you act as if I'm not putting the blame on the players because they deserve a lot of blame, particularly the O-Line and LB's. But you make it seem as if Shannon deserves no blame, which is just ridiculous because he deserves plenty of it.
They might have lost some gas but they were still trying to bring it. It was clearly a game won in the trenches though...
One thing that I don't like at all that is a coaching issue is the disipline at times. Phillips runs his mouth way too much and could have cost them big time by instigating a fight early on. The block in the back on the opening kickoff was rediculous.
Wow, I could almost say it was a great finish, but it was too little, too late. As rare as it is to get the onside kick back, it sucks when you can't do anything with it. Our guys just couldn't keep up with their D-line, and our D-line gave their qb all day to throw. They didn't kick our *** on the scoreboard, but the guys couldn't dominate like Wisconsin did. I hope to be watching Miami play next year, having a great season, and the commentator playing highlights of Jacory Harris from this year and talking about how much better he's gotten. Never liked him. He shies away from contact coming at him 9 times out of 10, and he was the player keeping containment on both TD runs tonight. Only to get the snot knocked out of him.
Never liked him either. He's not disciplined. I don't know what the hell it is with him but he can't stay in his zone.
Didn't see this game yet. Have it DVR'd. Have to say though it's another embarrassing step backwards for the Miami program. No way this team should lose to a slower and less talented Wisconsin team. No reason whatsoever. I expect to see a team that was poorly prepared, unfocused and undisciplined when I watch this game because I honestly believe that would be the only way the Canes would lose it. Shannon's a good recruiter but the doubts of his HC skills in my mind just keep getting bigger and bigger.
I can tell you from watching it that they weren't slow and less talented. They had all the guns up front to smash through our O-line, Harris didn't have time to do much. And their O-line gave their qb time to throw the ball and have a minute to collect himself. The Badgers had a pretty good season, overall. We just weren't prepared for them. Our Canes were the ones not ready, slow, and not playing at full talent level. Not to mention guys like Cooper got hurt in the 2nd quarter. The commentators kept talking about the cold weather (40 degrees), and the condition of the field as part of the problem. But that's really no excuse. At times, I feel like Shannon was best as a DC, he got the job done. Like you said, I'm still not sure if HC is the best position for him, it's not for everybody. You gotta know your place on a football team. I hope I'm wrong, and hope to find out for sure by the end of next year, we need to get the ball rolling a little faster. The simple fact of the matter is this....The Wisconsin secondary had ZERO to NO chance at even COMPETING with the Canes athletes at Wide Reciever. (We even had a Tommy Streeter sighting) They did not take advantage of that fact. I don't want to hear about the pressure...that is what max protection is for. Keep backs and TE's in to help.
Wow, um, totally unexpected from my part. I laughed inside when I saw Alex44 say that he wouldn't be surprised if Wisconsin won this game. I didn't quite "expect" to blow out Wisconsin, but I definitely thought we had a great shot to. I didn't give Wisconsin much of a shot going into this game, though, I mean, in terms of pulling out the W. Boy did they completely dominate us? The sad thing is, and I don't want to discredit their program, but they are by no means close to Miami's level of talent on either side of the football. It's not even close. They're not on our level. Same way I felt about Clemson when they beat us in our own house earlier in the season. Out coached. Out schemed. Unprepared. This is the story of a Randy Shannon football team... And it begins... Jacory Harris. I don't know what to say. It's like he's completely lost his confidence and swagger. I really hope it's the thumb, and I really think it is. There is no question, IMO, that he's been playing in some serious pain ever since the injury. I'm still hopeful of his future. He's going to be a lot better next year. He's no slouch. He's no punk ***** like Robert Marve. He's not going to run away from his problems and cry like a little girl. He'll beat himself up pretty good after this one and vow to get better. You'll see. Most of that beating will be undeserved, because we got nothing out of the running game and J12 had a DE or LB in his face before a WR could break in and out of their routes on almost every play. When he had time, he made plays. I hate to mention one play that could have been... but think back to the third down play in Wisconsin territory with the game notted at 7; Jacory makes a perfect throw on the left end to Byrd which would have been an easy 15-20 yard gain, and Thearon Collier decides to show DeMarcus Van Dyke how it's done and play some defense... oh boy. That play could have been 6 with one football move by Byrd. If not, then the drive keeps rolling. We're in FG range to say the least. BTW if that was Ted Ginn in place of Thearon Collier on the 4th down pass, poorly thrown or not (still catchable), he'd be getting ripped to shreds on this forum. That is the sad truth of the favortism some of you guys play. Anyway, I'm still riding with you J12. I've got all the faith in the world that he'll be two notches up next year, and two more in 2011. THIS IS A FIRST YEAR STARTER PEOPLE. Randy Shannon. I love Randy Shannon, I really do. I think he's a great guy who has overcome so much. I can't ever root against a guy like Randy Shannon and there's a lot of sentiment there, but I've got to keep it real on behalf of this football program; RANDY SHANNON IS NOT THE MAN FOR THIS JOB. If you're looking for a guy to keep this program in the top 15-25 range for the next 5-8 years, then he's probably the guy (and sadly I think that's what Shalala is looking for as long as our players are doing well in school, the dumb broad...). If you're looking for someone to take this program to the next level, then he simply is not that guy. I mean, really, what has he done? 5-7, OK, Larry Coker's mess. 7-5 improvement with a bowl loss to a mid-level Pac-10 team. 9-3 improvement with a bowl loss to a mid-level Big Ten team. What's next? Maybe we can move up to 10-2 with a bowl loss to a mid-level SEC team? Oh yeah, that's a major improvement. I'll be willing to give Shannon one more season to win the ACC or at least get an at-large BCS bid. I don't see it happening with next year's even tougher schedule (look, if we can't keep up with Wisconsin on a neutral ground, then Ohio State is going to tear us a new one at the Horseshoe), but I'm hopeful. If not, then changes need to be made. I'd love to offer Shannon the opportunity to step down as DC and bring TOMMY TUBERVILLE in here. Tuberville is natural Miami folk (DC under Jimmy Johnson and Erickson from 86-93). Most impressively on his resume, he's got an SEC title under his belt with Auburn in 2004 going a perfect 13-0 with a BCS bowl victory. I have no doubts that this guy would completely dominate the ACC. He can recruit, coach, and he's got all the connections in the world. Shannon can recruit, that's it. Hopefully he doesn't land a job this year... he's already stated he had enough fun time with the wife and he's ready to get back into it. This is MY GUY. I want him here tomorrow, but I'll take him in 2011 if Shannon doesn't get it together next year. I sense a 4-5 year extension for Shannon, but only for the recruiting base to show some stability. This fan base will force him out like we did with Coker if we're playing in Champs Sports, Chick-Fil-A, Car Care, Music City, or Emerald Bowl next year... and I'll gladly lead the charge. Mark Whipple. With all the rumors swirling around that Whipple may take a head coaching job elsewhere, he sure mailed it in tonight. This is why I hate my favorite sports teams this season. Heartbreak Dolphins and Heartbreak Canes. Neither team can just roll over and die, and while that's usually something to love about a team... I hate it! I think I was cooler with the Virginia Tech loss than this one and the UNC game where we kept coming back, letting up, coming back, letting up. They always have to play with my emotions man. Dead in the water from start to finish, then they make this miraculous push where every chip falls into play perfectly, and boom, the opportunity is there and it's not taken. Man, ****. We all deserve championships from both of these organizations within the next 2-3 seasons for this crap! Thats true but the offensive line didn't give Harris time to make those plays. The injury looked nasty. Hope he makes a full recovery.
Coop out for 12 months. That means he'll stay, med-redshirt in 2010, and serve his senior season in 2011.
I think Coop is done at the U. He was thinking of going to NFL this year. I think he rehabs than jumps to the nfl instead of risking another acl injury. I was another person who thought Miami would destroy Wisconsin. Sorry guys it sucks to end ur season with a loss. I dont like the Canes but i know ur passion and it sucks to see u all sad.
