I've never been more excited about a recruit than The Duke. He has the type of ability that can change a program's fortunes almost by himself.
Even though his talent is off the charts, I think my favorite thing about him is how bad he wants to come here. The only way he doesn't come here is if the school shuts down.
DeQuan Jones has been cleared and reinstated by the NCAA. He was already suspended for the season prior to today. HUGE relief.
Well that's great. He was by far the worst case from the Shapiro scandal. Not to mention, he can be a big help to the basketball squad. I think he'll be better at the 4 than he has been at the 3. And of course Reggie Johnson is back and Kadji is balling. We're going to be a much better basketball team now that we have some inside scoring, and size for rebounds/defense.
Some of Duke's highlights.
Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but Miami just caught a big break in the Shapiro case by settling with the Shapiro bankruptcy trustee to pay back $83,000 received "directly and indirectly" from Nevin Shapiro. Realistically, it has nothing to do with the NCAA investigation. Theoretically however, it's great news for us. This is the same trustee that threatened to subpoena everyone involved. With this settlement, he has vowed to end his investigation, which means no subpoenas. Having anyone involved testifying in a court of law would of been the absolute worst thing that could of possibly happened. That's what ****ed USC over, the Reggie Bush - Lloyd Lake lawsuit.
Decommitted a while back. Has admission issues because he went to 4 or 5 different high schools. Doesn't want to go prep, but might have to. Hopefully he does so we still have a chance to get him here since he's a stud.
Lamar Atkins, brother of Keith Brown committed to Louisville. So expect Keith to commit there also, and hopefully that's the last we hear of him.
He decommitted and switched right back to Miami not too long after (a couple days maybe). That was the last time he switched I believe. However, hopefully he just goes prep and doesn't take the Kevin Grooms route.
Keith Brown to Louisville as expected since Louisville made the dumb decision to waste a scholly on his brother.
He decommitted then committed to FSU, then commtited back to Miami, then decommitted again about 2 months ago when coaches told him he wouldn't be able to get in.
Nothing. Louisville offered Keith Brown's brother who isn't a good player in the slightest, so Brown chose them. Commendable thing to do, looking out for his brother, but I'm glad Miami didn't waste a scholly since we don't have scholarships to waste thanks to Shantard. Now Marken Michel, brother of Sony Michel, that's another story...
Dorial Green-Beckham is ****ing ridiculous. Just abused one of Clemson's pay4play guys Travis Blanks.
As if Bush and McCord wasn't good enough, Miami just picked up a commit from stud prep WR Robert Lockhart. He'll be a freshman I think
Miami with 3 commits today. One of them is stud 2013 DT Keith Bryant. Nobody seems to know who the other 2 are yet.
Looks like we have yet another big time 2013 recruit, ATH Jayron Kearse. Nephew of former stud Titans/Eagles DE Jevon Kearse. Was commited to Auburn.
Looks like the 3rd player is yet another absolute stud for the 2013 class. DE Jordan Sherit. Al Golden is a beast. Edit - Looks like the 3rd player is actually 2013 RB/WR Alex Collins. Jordan Sherit will most likely be a Cane eventually however.
Either Golden is just an absolute monster at recruiting, or Miami will get nothing significant in terms of sanctions. I believe it's both.
