Here it is the last game of the year against our most hated rival .Since it looks like the present regime will be retained all the team has to play for is pride and a good taste in the mouth to hold them over to next season.

Borrowing from the official MD site we have

Inside The Matchup: Dolphins Vs. Jets

    Dolphins-Jets Final Injury Updates

This is the 5th game thread I have started usually when no one else starts one close to starting time . I have been 4-0 when I have made a pick.Did not make a pick for the Lions game.

I am making a pick for this game .Dolphins correct their errors from the last game and win with Tanny having a big day.

    Go Dolphins.:up::dolphin:

@ArmandoSalguero: League source says Walt Aikens, who was not on the injured list but is inactive today, is inactive for disciplinary reasons.

So our season draws to an end, my friends, and I can think of no more fitting opponent than the hated Jets.

I've hated the Jets from the first moment I laid eyes on their puke-green colors and hairy-forearmed fans. Stupid fans who boo their draft pick live every single season yet expect to win the Superbowl every single season.

This lack-of-love affair has had it's ups and downs, like any bad relationship.

There was the irritation of watching Fireman Ed rouse the rabble whenever we'd visit Pukeville. (I write this as I pass the stadium, to catch a flight out of enemy territory in Newark NJ).

There was the elation and schaadenfreude of Fireman Ed's despondency and hopelessness as he abandoned the puke-green Jests.

There was the joy of watching Jason Taylor tear up a little baby Jets fan's sign at Sunlife as the Dad hollered (when are Jets fans NOT hollering though... seriously, try to remember ever seeing one who didn't have his fat mouth agape like a Hercules transport plane door).

Then there was the pain and betrayal of being cheated-on when JT donned the puke-green. An act of treason to many Dolfans. Funeral pyres were built. Jerseys were burnt. They lit the night as the old songs were sung.

There was also the time Dan the Man fooled the Jets with the clock play. What a beautiful day that was. To not only beat the Jets, but to reveal them for the stupidity on legs that they are was glorious. It is celebrated to this day.

There was the time the Jets spurned the only decent human being to ever escape the puke-green hole - Chad Pennington - and he thanked them by winning us a division title. The game that sealed it, fittingly, was a Dolphins victory over them. I'll always love Philip Merling for the one and only big play he ever made for us.

There was watching the dysfunctional Jets on Hard Knocks, with Rex Ryan, their toe-sucking Head Cuckold and his tattoo-muse and QB "The Sanchise"... So many laughs, all at the Jets expense.

And even now, as their coach cleans out his desk and prepares to be fired while ours plans for next season... What a perfect summation of the difference between these two franchises.

I can't think of anyone I'd rather beat than the Jets, on any day, no matter what is or isn't at stake!

That's why today's victory will be delicious.

    GO PHINS!!!!!!! BEAT THE JETS!!!!!!!

Hearing a lot of Dolphins fans saying they don't care if we win since were already out of the playoffs. I couldn't disagree more, after all it is the Jets and its always good to give them an *** kicking. This game will also tell me a lot about the players, and if their play shows the positive emotion of trying to finish with a winning record and playing with emotion for their coach who will be retained. We all know Rex`s crew will be playing hard and trying to send him off with a win, lets see if Philbins squad plays hard for him to justify him being retained.

No playoffs, so Walt says who gives a **** and goes out partying too late Friday or Saturday and shows up hungover. That's my guess.

Or it's something as simple as oversleeping and it had nothing to do with not giving a ****.

@AdamSchefter: Dolphins DE Cameron Wake needs 1.5 sacks today to get 13 for season and earn $1 million in incentives; 3.5 sacks will mean another $1.25M.

Possible. But you have your guess, and I have mine.

(and even so... if today's game had big playoff implications, players treat it as very important and are unlikely to 'oversleep'. That's like oversleeping your final exam to pass law school)

So if he has 1 sack heading into the fourth quarter, and they want to sit him and rest him rotationally because of his snap count... I wonder how that'll go? lol.

Wish us luck today. Just don't want to see them run all over us again.
Let's play a good game and welcome Rex to the Fins in a few weeks...:wink2:

I honestly don't think Wake cares about incentives at all. It's not like he really needs that money.

If we win, good for us.
If the jets win, good for Rex.

That is how apathetic I have become about this team.

The closer we're getting to kickoff today the more I'm getting pissed. We were 7-5, the sixth seed at that point...and now here we are, week 17 against the hated division rival Jets...and it has no playoff implication what so ever.

    Yes , I'll watch, I'll root, I'll hope for a win...but, DAMN..this SUCKS.

Was a bad decision by Landry, then terrible blocking by Pouncey. What's new?

The Mike Pouncey experiment at RG has been a miserable one. He needs to move back to C.
