O i def let it affect my opinion. I cant listen to an artist talk about all this **** and then find out that their completely the opposite and full of ****. That kills what their trying to say IMO. It makes it bull****.

Look at Young Buck for example. "I got money like I signed the Vitamin Water deal" . Come to find out hes broke as hell. Thats bull**** and that kind of garbage needs to be out of the rap game.

No offense, but that's dumb, IMO. I mean, if that's the case, then I don't know who you're going to listen to because all of these rappers lie about significant things. Music is music. I'm homophobic as hell and Lil' Wayne has many homosexual tendencies, but I still listen to his music because I don't care what the hell he does outside of the booth. It's not my business, and it's irrelevant to me because I don't know dude personally.

I mean, based on what you're saying, we should take away from Pac's legacy because he put on this thug life/gangster image, yet he grew up through art school.

EXACTLY. I agree with every word. I'm homophobic as hell too but when I don't know them personally, I don't mind it.

If he never did any of the **** he talks about then yea I say it should take away from his image. Im sure everyone does exaggerate certain things, but to be COMPLETELY the opposite and full of **** is ******ed.

I really dont understand that logic at all that, "O its just music so who cares." If you like the production and beats then sure thats fine. But you cant tell me that image and reality shouldnt be as close as possible. Best example is Dr Dre. Im sure we all love a lot of his music and hes easily one of the best producers. But, the man doesnt write a single lyric that he raps. That right there immediately eliminates him as a legitimate artist. Sure hes an excellent producer but thats it.

Thinking any different is like saying that some little 16 year-old rich white kid from Beverly Hills could have a nasty flow and talk about all this gangster **** when we all know hes nothing like that. Your gonna tell me you would overlook everything about him that you know isnt true at all bc his music is good? No chance. So if one of those little dbags from Laguna Beach or some other MTV garbage flows like Wayne and talks about hustling and the hood and has beats from Dre its good music? No man I disagree.

If rappers wana be actors then they should stick to acting. Music is always better when its real and reflects who you are. Not some persona you made up to sell records and get street cred. Thats exactly whats wrong with a lot of hip hop IMO.

I stopped reading the above post at the first or second paragraph, because it's irrelevant to me. I don't give a damn about a rapper's background; if you can spit, then you can spit. I think you need to do some research on your favorite rappers then go back and listen to all of their lyrics. I am sure you'll find over a hundred lies on each and every one of them; probably more.

Better yet, give me a list of your favorite rappers - about 10 or so. I guarantee at least 90% of them do nothing but lie in their lyrics. Why do you even care if a rapper is telling the truth or not? It's ENTERTAINMENT. Acting isn't the only form of entertainment. Music is as well. Most of these rappers are telling stories about the streets, not exactly **** that they've done. Why would a cold blooded murderer, drug dealer, robber, etc. tell a story about unsolved cases (obviously, since they're free) on an official album? Please.

How many times has Tupac rapped about being a gang banger, murder, killer, etc.? "I ain't no killer, but don't push me"

The funny thing is, what these artists do outside of the booth isn't even your business. It isn't my business either. The media is too mind controlling......:pity:

Thats the same attitude that makes Soulja boy and other garbage popular. Im not gonna keep debating it with you bc its a waste of time reading a response to something you didnt bother reading more then a few sentences of. Your responding to **** I didnt even say or insinuate so we're both wasting our time.

Because I just don't get your angle on the issue. Why do you care about what these rappers are doing or have done in their personal lives? It shouldn't determine how good or bad a rapper is, IMO. If you can spit, then you can spit. If you make good music, then you make good music. I think we can all agree on that criteria, right? I mean, this is about music. It's not about one's past. Birdman's street cred is something serious, and Lil' Wayne doesn't have any street cred. Both artists rap about drugs, murder, gang related issues, etc. Uhhh, I don't think that's going to make me stop listening to Weezy in favor of Bird Doo Doo.

And Soulja Boy is only popular because pop culture doesn't care about content. It has nothing to do with real or fake. Again, like Dr. Dre, I don't get the comparison, bro. Soulja Boy (yes, GARBAGE music - I agree) makes dance music, so I don't get how he's "rapping" a lie.

On the flip side, how do you guys not like Nas' album?

I mean, it's not exactly an album you're going to bang out in the whip, but it's content. Great content. Forget about the production, which IMO, is fitting to begin with. This album was made to have listeners sit back and think. Not enough of that going on in Hip Hop today. Nas, you're applauded.

Yea its def more of a thinking album which is cool. The production is hit and miss but it has some good songs. I like where he was trying to go with it, but its kind of... i duno unorganized maybe. Not bad but not a classic or anything like that IMO, just something different.

Tyga is like a 2/5 on my scale, but he's like 17 or 18 so he has a ton of time to improve. His mixtape was better than the album, actually. He ripped the Arms Dealer Remix w/ Fall Out Boy, Weezy, Kanye, & Lupe.

Hes from the south but doesnt really sound very southern IMO. He was featured on a few of Outkasts songs, ADIDAS and The whole world. Ive never heard a full album of his so we'll see. Hard to really compare him, maybe a cross between Project Pat and Big Boi? Idk hard to compare
